Panthers rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell’s season is officially over. The Panthers announced that Brazzell has been placed on injured reserve as a result of the knee injury he suffered at practice on Wednesday. Brazzell will have surgery to repair his lateral collateral ligament. A third-round pick from Tennessee, Brazzell was a first-team All-SEC sedection last year who was expected to make an impact as a rookie, but now he’ll spend the year rehabbing to prepare for the 2027 season. With their open roster spot, the Panthers signed tight end Chamon Metayer, who originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie in April but was cut by Pittsburgh in June

Steelers waive former Arizona State TE
After signing former Aaron Rodgers teammate and veteran tight end Robert Tonyan on Thursday, the Steelers made room by waiving tight end Chamon Metayer, per KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson . Metayer was part of the Steelers’ initial undrafted free agent class in 2026. He played college football in 2025 alongside Pittsburgh first-round pick Max Iheanachor at Arizona State. Now, the Steelers’ current tight end room consists of Pat Freiermuth , the recently-extended Darnell Washington , Tonyan, Jaheim Bell , J.J. Galbreath, UDFA signing Lake McRee, and rookie fullback hybrid Riley Nowakowski. Steelers minicamp concluded Thursday, but OTAs will resume on Monday. Let us know what you think in the comments . The Steelers doubled up on veteran additions to their roster on Thursday. In addition to signing tight end Robert Tonyan, they announced that they have signed linebacker Jamin Davis to their 90-man roster. Both players took part in this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis. Davis had three tackles in two games for the Raiders last season. Their defensive coordinator Patrick Graham now has the same job on Mike McCarthy’s staff in Pittsburgh. Davis appeared in 54 games for Washington and Minnesota before moving to the Raiders. He had 287 tackles, eight sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in that action. The Steelers also announced that they have waived tight end Chamon Metayer
