Claiborne (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts. Claiborne is a healthy scratch for Week 7 due to the return of Jordan Mason. Mason has recovered from his thumb injury and is all set to resume his role as the backup running back to Aaron Jones, making Claiborne largely obsolete for the Vikings' offense
Demond Claiborne caught his only target for six yards in the Vikings' 23-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 5. Claiborne has made minimal impact out of the Minnesota backfield to this point, recording three touches or less in each of his four games. The running back remains a non-factor in all formats ahead of a Week 6 bye for the Vikings
Claiborne carried the ball three times for 12 yards during Minnesota's win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Claiborne continued to serve a limited role behind Aaron Jones even with Jordan Mason (thumb) on injured reserve. Claiborne will look to be more involved offensively during next week's matchup versus the Saints
Demond Claiborne rushed the ball three times for 12 yards in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. Claiborne was once again able to contribute for the Vikings on Sunday, finishing with 12 yards over the course of the afternoon. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him moving forward, however
Minnesota Vikings rookie running back Demond Claiborne was thrust into a bigger role when the team put Jordan Mason (thumb) on Injured Reserve last week. However, the Vikings have been hesitant to put too much on the sixth-rounder out of Wake Forest's plate early in his first season in the NFL, and that showed in the Vikings' Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 22-year-old only played three offensive snaps and had three rushing attempts for just one yard, while both Max Bredson and DeeJay Dallas out-snapped him behind starter Aaron Jones Sr. Claiborne's role could grow over the next couple of weeks, though, and Mason will miss at least three more games while on IR. In Claiborne's NFL debut in the Week 2 victory over the division-rival Chicago Bears, he had just one reception for a gain of two yards. At best, Claiborne is a short-term handcuff option for fantasy managers who have Jones rostered, but once Mason returns from his thumb injury, Claiborne will be buried on Minnesota's RB depth chart again. He is currently rostered in only 2% of Yahoo leagues
Demond Claiborne had three carries for one yard in the Vikings' win Sunday. He saw increased usage with Jordan Mason on injured reserve and is considered a stash
Claiborne caught his sole target for two yards in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Bears. Claiborne is the No. 2 running back behind Aaron Jones while Jordan Mason (thumb) recovers on IR. The 22-year-old saw just two offensive snaps in Sunday's game, meaning DeeJay Dallas could have a shot at claiming the backup role from the sixth-rounder in the future
Minnesota Vikings running back Demond Claiborne has jumped to No. 2 on the depth chart, and while he had a very quiet Week 2 performance, he could still be a decent waiver wire target for fantasy managers in deeper leagues. In particular, he's an appealing handcuff option for fantasy managers who already have Aaron Jones Sr. on their roster. Jones and Claiborne each climbed up a rung on the depth chart after Jordan Mason (thumb) landed on injured reserve, so the latter is now just one injury away from occupying the lead-back role. The 22-year-old did play just two snaps in Week 2, so there's certainly no standalone value, and even if Jones missed time, Claiborne would likely share opportunities with DeeJay Dallas. Still, managers in deeper leagues should consider placing a waiver claim for Claiborne, who is an intriguing insurance option behind an aging veteran in Minnesota
Vikings running back DeeJay Dallas, who has earned a roster spot following the placement of Jordan Mason on IR with a thumb injury, has provided a headshot for the ages, with eyes bulging wide. Via Dawn Mitchell of Fox 9, Dallas has explained the facial expression he adopted for his pose. “I just want the other teams to put it up in their meeting ,” Dallas said. "[W]hen you see that, you kind of feel like it kind of embodies, like, the Viking mentality, like, that berserker mentality, you know?” He did the same thing in Seattle , and it was inspired by NHL player Brandon Tanev . Was the goal to make teams wonder whether they need to look out for Harris? “You probably need to look out,” Dallas said. “But, nah, I’m a good guy, maybe. . . . I mean, teams probably will look at it and say, ‘Oh, this guy is making a joke.’ I’m not making a joke. I’m serious. I’m so serious. And if we are on the field and you got a chance, try it. Try it.” A fourth-round pick in 2020, Dallas has played for the Seahawks, Cardinals, Panthers, and Jaguars. He has 85 regular-season appearances and two starts. In Minnesota, Dallas is listed as the third-string running back, behind Aaron Jones Sr. and Demond Claiborne
Now that Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason (finger) will miss at least four games on injured reserve, fellow running back Aaron Jones Sr. is a solid RB2 option as the Vikings prepare to play Chicago in Week 2. What certainly looked to be a backfield split that slightly favored Mason is now a backfield that features Jones, journeyman DeeJay Dallas, and rookie Demond Claiborne, who was inactive in Week 1. While Jones may not be a workhorse any longer, his fantasy prospects have certainly improved in time to face a shaky Bears defense that ranks 29th in yards per carry allowed, 29th in air yards allowed, and missed nine tackles last week. Even without starting quarterback Kyler Murray (concussion), Jones' receiving ability and control of the backfield are appealing. As RotoBaller's No. 20 running back this week, Jones should draw serious consideration in most formats against Chicago
