Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy is medically cleared from a gunshot wound to the leg, but coach Eli Drinkwitz said Monday that a timetable for Hardy’s return remains uncertain. Hardy was shot in the upper leg at a May 10 concert in Mississippi. Hardy is “ on the road to recovery ” and is fully healed from the bullet that struck a bone in his leg, Drinkwitz said, via Andrea Adelson of ESPN. The return-to-play protocol could be 5-8 weeks. “We still don’t know what his recovery will be,” Drinkwitz said at SEC media days. “Is he the same Ahmad Hardy that was last year? My anticipation and what I’ve seen, the way he’s attacked his rehab: He’s going to be a better Ahmad Hardy than what he was before.” Hardy transferred to Missouri from UL Monroe in 2025 after rushing for 1,351 yards in 2024. In his first year at Missouri, he ranked second among FBS players with 1,649 rushing yards and earned first-team All-America honors and SEC Newcomer of the Year. Hardy also scored 16 touchdowns and averaged 6.4 yards on his 256 rushing attempts to become a Doak Walker Award finalist
Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy was shot on Sunday at an outdoor concert in Mississippi. On Thursday, an arrest was made. Via the Associated Press, 20-year-old Rashodrick Harris was detained in Paducah, Kentucky . As of Friday afternoon, he was awaiting extradition to Mississippi. Hardy underwent surgery after the shooting. He returned to Missouri on Wednesday. Per the report, three other persons of interest were taken into custody. They were released without any charges being filed. Harris was identified as a suspect by surveillance video. His arrest warrant was issued based on information from a witness. It’s unclear whether Hardy’s availability for the 2026 season will be impacted by the shooting and the surgery. He rushed for 1,649 yards in 2025, second most among all FBS players
For the 21st year in a row, the NFL will play three games on Thanksgiving. For the 49th year in a row, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will each play in one of them. The 2026 NFL schedule release has revealed the two teams set to visit Detroit and Dallas for Turkey Day this year. In addition, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are bracing for a primetime Thanksgiving matchup to round out the slate. In addition to the three games on Thanksgiving, the 2026 NFL season will also be the fourth in a row with a game on Black Friday, streamed on Amazon Prime Video. This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Denver Broncos on the day after Thanksgiving. There is also an additional game on "Thanksgiving Eve." The Los Angeles Rams will host the Green Bay Packers in that Wednesday night game on Netflix.
