George Kittle lands on PUP list to open 49ers camp
There's been optimism about tight end George Kittle playing in Week 1 after tearing his Achilles in January, but he's not quite ready to practice yet. 49ers General Manager John Lynch said on Saturday that Kittle will be placed on the physically unable list to open training camp. Lynch said that the team is happy with the progress that Kittle is making and that the tight end is doing "everything possible" to play in Week 1 against the Rams in Melbourne. Defensive end Mykel Williams (ACL), defensive tackle Alfred Collins (shoulder), and running back Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) are also going to be placed on the PUP list. Defensive end Nick Bosa (ACL) and linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) will not go on the list, which bodes well for their fitness heading into the season. Lynch also said that the 49ers will sign tight end Tanner McLachlan . McLachlan played in two games for the Bengals in 2024 and spent time on the Chargers' practice squad last season. The team will waive defensive tackle Evan Anderson and tight end Khalil Dinkins in other roster moves this weekend

49ers place 4 players on the active/PUP List; sign former 6th-round tight end
San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch announced a series of moves Saturday morning. The Niners waived undrafted rookie tight end Khalil Dinkins with a non-football injury. Taking his roster spot will be tight end Tanner McLachlan , a 6th-rounder from the 2024 NFL Draft out of Arizona . McLachlan is a big body at 6’5 1/8″, with surprising speed. He ran a 4.61 40-yard dash, which is in the 87th percentile. His 10-yard split of 1.58 was in the 84th percentile. McLachlan was most recently with the Bengals. Defensive tackle Evan Anderson will be released at some point on Saturday. Lynch said there will be a corresponding move, although that hasn’t been announced yet. The following players will begin training camp on the active/PUP list: TE George Kittle (Achilles) RB Isaac Guerendo (pec) DL Mykel Williams (ACL) DT Alfred Collins (shoulder) Lynch said, “George’s rehab is coming tremendous. I know you guys have heard from him. He’s doing really well. That’s very exciting. He’s doing everything possible to be ready for Week 1. We’re thrilled with his process.” For Williams, Lynch said, “What I would say with Mykel, he’s making every effort to be ready for Week 1. We’ll see if that’s a reality. We’ll let the markers and the medical staff kind of dictate that out.” As for Collins, the 49ers are expecting him back in “the second window. Don’t hold us to that, but that’s the plan right now. If he keeps hitting the markers, that’s about when Alfred will be back.” Players placed on the PUP list before training camp count as part of the 90-man roster. However, they cannot practice until they’re physically cleared and removed from PUP. Since the four players are on the active/PUP List, they can be removed from the list at any point during training camp

Chargers make several roster moves, sign international OT

The Chargers made a handful of roster moves on Tuesday, signing three players and waiving four in a corresponding move. Per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, the Bolts officially signed tight end Johnny Pascuzzi, safety Myles Purchase (formerly a cornerback in 2025), and offensive tackle Laekin Vakalahi . To offset the additions, the team waived edge rusher Niles King and tight ends Tanner McLachlan and Thomas Yassmin . The team also waived/injured cornerback Jeremiah Wilson. Pascuzzi was signed by the team following a rookie tryout last week. He played three seasons at Iowa before one season at Tulane. While not a productive pass catcher in college, he brings potential as a move-blocker and on special teams. Purchase signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2025 as a cornerback. He played well during the preseason and has since made the transition to safety in the NFL. The 6’5, 320-pound Vakalahi is an international player who originally signed with the Eagles in 2024. He won a Super Bowl as a rookie and mainly played as a backup left tackle. At 6’5 and 320 pounds, he is a project with good physical traits whom the Chargers will look to develop this season

The Chargers are shuffling their roster in the wake of their rookie minicamp. They announced on Tuesday that they have signed tight end Johnny Pascuzzi, safety Myles Purchase and tackle Laekin Vakalahi. ‘ Pascuzzi was undrafted out of Tulane this year while Purchase spent time with the Chargers and Giants after going undrafted last year. Vakalahi was a rugby player in New Zealand and came into the NFL through the International Player Pathway program. He previously spent time with the Eagles. The Chargers also announced that they have waived linebacker Niles King, tight end Tanner McLachlan, cornerback Jeremiah Wright, and tight end Thomas Yassmin
