The 49ers and Dolphins will be taking a look at the UFL’s best player in 2026. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Jack Plummer will work out for San Francisco on Friday and Miami next week. Plummer is the UFL’s reigning MVP, having won it for his season with the Orlando Storm. He led the UFL with 2,188 passing yards while tossing 17 touchdowns with just one interception in 10 games. Plummer previously spent time with the Panthers after going undrafted in 2024. He was waived by the team during roster cuts last year

Who are the Top 5 quarterbacks in Denver Broncos history?
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to run through the greatest Denver Broncos players of all-time by position. Naturally, I should start with the easiest Top 2 then we can all argue about the other three on this list. Yes, I will already have Bo Nix in the top three after just two seasons. The reason is pretty simple: there haven’t been that many great quarterbacks in Broncos’ history. The only two that maybe deserve to be on this list is Craig Morton and Tim Tebow . And those two would make the list for entirely different reasons. Instead, I went with Kubiak because he was instrumental in all three of the Super Bowl championships that we’ve enjoyed. Plummer then makes the cut above the rest as he is likely the best in actual quarterbacking skill compared to the rest of the options available. Here is where they stand: Scotty Payne: Probably the easiest list to do. Elway and Manning don’t need any explaining, Bo Nix is the present and the future, Jake Plummer was fun, and Tebow had a magical season, won a playoff game, and helped the Broncos land Manning. Hall of Fame players who helped deliver the franchise’s three Super Bowl victories. Prior to the arrival of Elway, Craig Morton was the Broncos’ all-time passing leader in his six seasons with Denver compiling a 41-23 record. Jake Plummer, despite eventually being replaced by Jay Cutler in 2006, had an underrated 39-15 record as a starter. Entering his third season, Bo Nix is the future of the franchise and seems destined to climb up the Broncos’ all-time passing record marks in short order. John Elway Peyton Manning Craig Morton Jake Plummer Bo Nix Ian St. Clair: The first two are obvious. They’re two of the best QBs to ever play in the NFL. Nix passes the eye test and just out-dueled Josh Allen for an incredible playoff OT win. Morton was integral to the Broncos having its best season in franchise history at the time in 1977. While Plummer brought stability and leadership to the QB position. He also helped lead the Broncos to a playoff win over Tom Brady . John Elway Peyton Manning Bo Nix Craig Morton Jake Plummer Ross Allen: It’s almost odd to me that a team with such a long and storied history and winning record doesn’t have a long list of talented quarterbacks. The first two are easy picks, but then the last three can be a little harder to determine. Bo Nix has all of the ability to be the third-best. Morton’s impact on the earlier years of this franchise is undeniable. And Tebow might be a stretch to some, but that 2011 season was electric and he did help lead Denver to a playoff win over the 12-4 Steelers , the defending AFC champs. John Elway Peyton Manning Bo Nix Craig Morton Tim Tebow Sadaraine: This list fairly easily writes itself. I’ll have Morton higher on my list because I appreciate the history of the franchise before I was a fan more than most fans. And yes, Bo Nix belongs on this list. He’s going to be a Bronco for a very long time and has a decent chance to move up the list over the course of his career. John Elway Peyton Manning Craig Morton Jake Plummer Bo Nix Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann: I was surprised at how hard it was to figure out No. 3-5! As much as I loved the Tebow season, he really does not belong on the top 5 all time. And even though Craig Morton doesn’t have the flashy career of the others, it was a completely different era and he was hugely important to this franchise for decades to come for helping lead the Broncos to their first Super Bowl. Unheralded Broncos: Gary Kubiak
Okay, I know what you’re thinking, how on Earth could Gary Kubiak, a monolith among the coaching greats in Denver Broncos history be unheralded? I mean, he did win three Super Bowls with the Broncos, two as an offensive coordinator and another as head coach in 2015. Really, with the exception of the Super Bowl in New York and Super Bowl XII, Kubiak has been in, as a player, or around every Super Bowl, as coordinator or coach. So what about Kubiak the player? Gary was selected with the 197th pick in the 8th round of the 1983 draft. When John Elway joined him as the other quarterback from the 1983 just days after being drafted and traded by the Colts , he had no way of knowing how intertwined their careers would become. Kubiak served as Elway’s backup for 9 seasons, appearing in 119 regular season games, going 3-2 as an injury replacement starter. Completing 173 out of 298 passes with 14 touchdowns, 1,920 yards, and just 16 interceptions, Gary was the reliable stalwart behind Denver ’s golden-armed rifleman. For most folks, that kind of career would have been enough, but not for Gary. Following his player stint with Denver, Kubiak coached his alma mater of Texas A&M, and won a Super Bowl as the 49ers quarterbacks coach under offensive coordinator, Mike Shanahan. When Shanahan left San Francisco to become Denver’s head coach in 1995, Kubiak went with him. Then there’s the back-to-back Super Bowl victories he helped engineer to conclude John Elway’s glorious career. Although, Denver wouldn’t make it back to another Super Bowl with Kubiak as an assistant, it was his steady offensive-minded brain that oversaw a terrific run to the AFC Championship in 2005 with Jake Plummer. In 2006, Kubiak left Denver to become the head coach for the Houston Texans . He did the best with what he had, which wasn’t enough, and managed a 61-64 record. He was fired a month after collapsing on the sideline and being rushed to the hospital with just three games to go. Looking at it through the lens of time, one can’t help but feel like they did him pretty dirty to not let him finish a meaningless season, especially after a significant health scare. A brief stint as Baltimore ’s offensive coordinator in 2014 was little more than a prelude to the magic that would unfold in 2015 when he was named head coach by Broncos general manager, John Elway. Although, few in Broncos Country would dispute the impact Kubiak had on that Super Bowl season with Peyton Manning , it’s odd that Kubiak hasn’t been more celebrated for his loyalty and accomplishments in Denver. Gary Kubiak became eligible for Ring of Fame induction on January 1, 2026. You would be hard-pressed to find a more deserving and dedicated player, coordinator, or coach to canonize in the annals of Broncos history. He was a part of 6 Broncos Super Bowl appearances and helped convert 3 into championships. The Broncos have yet to announce this year’s Ring of Fame inductee(s) and while it’s possible that nobody gets the honor, it’s impossible not to see Gary Kubiak and his contributions in the landscape of Broncos legends. There’s no time like the present to give this unheralded Bronco his due. It’s time to put Gary Kubiak into the Ring of Fame

Jack Plummer wins UFL MVP award
Jack Plummer’s first season in the UFL ended with the league’s top individual honor. The Orlando Storm quarterback has been named the UFL MVP. The 26-year-old, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers in 2024, joined the Storm in 2026. He finished first in the league with 2,188 passing yards for the 8-2 Storm. His 17 touchdown passes were second in the league. Plummer threw only one interception in 300 attempts. No relation to former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer, Jack Plummer played college football at Purdue, California, and Louisville. In 2024 with the Panthers, he spent most of the season on the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster in late December. The Panthers waived him in August 2025
