Coleman got the start alongside DJ Moore (ankle) and Khalil Shakir, with all three receivers making major contributions. Coleman scored a touchdown to cap off Buffalo's second drive, but he continued playing on the third series with mostly backups until an injury sent him limping off. Coach Joe Brady said both Moore and Coleman should be fine, but Brady did acknowledge that the wide receivers will require further evaluation from the medical team, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports

Wide receiver Keon Coleman came under fire at the end of the 2025 Bills season, but he got his 2026 season off on the right foot. Quarterback Josh Allen found Coleman in the end zone for a nine-yard score at the end of Buffalo’s second offensive possession in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Panthers. The Bills are at home, which makes the touchdown the first one at the new Highmark Stadium. The throw was the final one of the afternoon for Allen. He connected with new Bills wideout DJ Moore three times for 61 yards over his two series of work and finished the day 6-of-8 for 111 yards, so it was a positive first day for the quarterback in his new digs. Kyle Allen took over at quarterback for the Bills, who will play their first regular season game at the stadium on Thursday night in Week 2

The third-year wideout got off to a nice start during the first preseason contest against the Carolina Panthers. Coleman snagged three of his four targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in the victory. His score came on a nine-yard pass from Josh Allen in the first quarter. The 23-year-old is trying to beat out Joshua Palmer and rookie Skyler Bell for the WR3 role in Buffalo this upcoming season. It's a small sample size, but Coleman appears to be building chemistry with Allen. Allen has been known to distribute the wealth amongst all his pass catchers in his career, and reports from camp have suggested that the Bills want to get superstar James Cook III more involved in the passing game as well. Bell profiles as a dynasty stash for the time being
