The Panthers have set their initial 53-player roster. They announced they waived cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson, cornerback Cam Miller, safety Demani Richardson, outside linebacker Isaiah Smith, linebacker Maz Mwansa, defensive tackle Parker Petersen, offensive lineman Isaia Glass, cornerback Devonta Smith, linebacker Maema Njongmeta, center Nick Samac, running back Tre Tyus, cornerback Corey Thornton, wide receiver Casey Washington, wide receiver Ja’seem Reed, linebacker Trevin Wallace and defensive tackle Jared Harrison-Hunte. The Panthers also released 10 vested veterans, terminating the contracts of wide receiver David Moore, defensive tackle Elijah Garcia, offensive lineman Jake Curhan, cornerback Robert Rochell, safety Isaiah Simmons, outside linebacker Cam Gill, offensive lineman Ja’Tyre Carter, quarterback Kyle Trask, tight end James Mitchell and outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon. Running back Trevor Etienne and linebacker Bam Martin-Scott went on injured reserve with designations to return. Cornerback Tyrek Funderburk was waived with an injury designation. The team also placed right tackle Taylor Moton on the reserve/non-football illness list, and left tackle Ikem Ekwonu and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton on reserve/physically unable to perform list. The Panthers traded a 2028 sixth-round pick to the Chargers for defensive tackle TeRah Edwards. With those moves, the Panthers are at the 53-man limit, and can establish a practice squad on Monday

Report: Panthers rookie WR Chris Brazzell to have season-ending knee surgery
Word on Wednesday was that Panthers rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell would miss up to eight weeks after tearing his LCL during practice, but his absence from the field is set to be even longer. Joe Person of TheAthletic.com reports that Brazzell received a second opinion about the knee injury and that he and the team concluded that the best course of action is for the third-round pick to have season-ending surgery . Brazzell is the second Panthers player to suffer a serious knee injury since camp opened last week. Linebacker Nic Scourton will miss the season with a torn ACL. The Panthers also placed wide receiver Dan Chisena on injured reserve this week. The Panthers have signed wideouts Casey Washington and Gabriel Benyard over the last two days. They join Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, John Metchie, Jimmy Horn, Brycen Tremaine, David Moore, and Ainias Smith as available options at wideout

The Panthers saw a wide receiver go down with an injury at Wednesday’s practice and they added another player to the position group later in the day. Casey Washington is the new addition to the depth chart. The Panthers announced the move hourse after third-round pick Chris Brazzell was carted off with what’s reported to be a torn LCL. Washington was a 2024 sixth-round pick by the Falcons and he was released by Atlanta last month. He had seven catches for 108 yards in 15 appearances for the Falcons over the last two years. The Panthers placed wide receiver and special teamer Dan Chisena on injured reserve in a corresponding move

Running back Miles Sanders was not the only player in Las Vegas for a tryout with the Raiders on Monday . The league’s daily transaction wire notes the club also had in several offensive skill position players and a few linebackers. On offense, receiver K.J. Hamler, receiver Deven Thompkins, receiver Casey Washington, and tight end Zack Kuntz all tried out for the club. Ravens to sign Chris Moore after working out several receivers

Wide receiver Chris Moore is back in Baltimore. The NFL’s daily transaction report shows that Moore worked out for the Ravens on Friday and multiple reports say that he is signing on for a second tour of duty with the team. Moore was a 2016 fourth-round pick and spent his first five seasons with the AFC North club. Moore had 47 catches for 511 yards and four touchdowns during that stint. He spent time with the Texans, Titans and Cardinals before playing in 14 games for the Commanders last season. He had 11 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens worked out wideouts Sterling Shepard, Dante Pettis, and Casey Washington along with Moore. Offensive tackles Hakeem Adenjii and Geron Christian also worked out while quarterback William Atkins handled the throwing during the tryout

The Falcons announced the addition of three players to their 90-man roster on Wednesday. All three of the players that the Falcons signed — defensive end Keshawn Banks , defensive tackle Devonnsha Maxwell and wide receiver Antwane Wells — played in the UFL this year. Banks had 24 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks with the Orlando Storm while Maxwell recorded 23 tackles, seven tackles for loss and four sacks with the DC Defenders. Wells caught 25 passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns for the Columbus Aviators. The Falcons waived wide receiver Casey Washington , defensive tackle Elijah Garcia and defensive end CJ Nunnally in corresponding moves.
