Jauan Jennings stayed with the Vikings despite a potential trade to the 49ers
With all the talk about the lack of targets for highly-paid veteran receiver Garrett Wilson, the Jets have been getting plenty of production out of first-round rookie Omar Cooper Jr. Cooper suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 1. He returned in Week 6, and he has had a pair of 100-yard games, with a touchdown in each one. If he does it again today against the Raiders, Cooper will become only the fifth rookie in NFL history with three straight 100-yard performances and a touchdown. Via NBC Sports research, the others were Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014, Mike Evans in 2014, Randy Moss in 1998, and Jimmy Orr, way back in 1958. Against the Patriots in Week 6, Cooper had six catches on seven targets, for 103 yards and a touchdown. Against the Dolphins in Week 7, Cooper had five catches on five targets for 115 yards and a touchdown. Cooper’s ascension makes it even more plausible for the Jets to consider trade offers for Wilson. Even though the Jets claim they’re not open to trading him. Even if they aren’t, the calls will surely keep coming — especially if Wilson doesn’t have significant involvement today, and if Cooper does

Vikings may trade WR Jauan Jennings after signing Odell Beckham Jr., as roster surplus and injury concerns prompt a possible deal
The Vikings are continuing to look at veteran wide receivers. Today Juju Smith-Schuster was in Minnesota for a workout, according to Tom Pelissero. The 29-year-old Smith-Schuster signed with the Giants in June and was cut by them in August. The Vikings recently brought in another veteran wide receiver who was cut by the Giants, Odell Beckham Jr., and they’re continuing to look for veteran depth at the position. Smith-Schuster was originally a 2017 second-round pick of the Steelers. He has also played for the Patriots and had two stints with the Chiefs
Justin Jefferson will play for the Vikings while Jordan Addison and Odell Beckham Jr. will not play
Justin Jefferson will play for the Vikings in Week 5 after missing the previous game with an ankle injury. However, wide receivers Jordan Addison (hamstring) and Odell Beckham Jr. (concussion protocol) have been ruled out. Beckham was signed to the practice squad this week and elevated, but the team will not debut him

Vikings elevate Odell Beckham Jr. from practice squad due to injuries to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison
While there’s a chance he’ll be inactive, Vikings receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has a chance to make his debut for Minnesota on Sunday. The Vikings, per multiple reports, will elevate Beckham from the practice squad in advance of the Week 5 game at New Orleans. Coach Kevin O’Connell said Friday that Beckham likely would be elevated to the active roster for the game, but that he’d also likely be inactive if both Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring) aren’t able to go. Neither has been downgraded from questionable to out. Usually, a player who is listed as questionable but who isn’t playing won’t make the trip and, in turn, be ruled out the day before the game. Beckham, a Louisiana native who played at LSU, surely welcomes the opportunity to suit up and play in New Orleans, in his first game with the Vikings
Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison's status for Sunday's game against the Saints is uncertain due to injuries
The Vikings didn’t sign receiver Odell Beckham Jr. for P.R. purposes. They signed him to help the team win games. And they may have signed him to send a clear message to receiver Jauan Jennings. Jennings, who signed a one-year, $8 million deal in the offseason, has yet to provide the Vikings with much of a return on their investment. In three games, he has been targeted four times, making two catches for nine yards. On Sunday, with Justin Jefferson out, Jennings participated in 95 percent of the offensive snaps. He was targeted once. Beckham eventually could become the No. 3 receiver, behind Jefferson and Jordan Addison. With both of them stressing defenses (and with tight end T.J. Hockenson developing into a reliable weapon for quarterback Kyler Murray), Beckham could find favorable matchups and plenty of opportunities to make plays. If nothing else, Beckham’s presence will provide a wakeup call for Jennings. Or for second-year receiver Tai Felton, who has only one catch for 14 yards on three targets in four 2026 games. Regardless, Beckham is there for a reason. And the reason seems to be that, beyond Jefferson and Addison, the receiving corps hasn’t been good enough
Odell Beckham Jr. is taking a pretty notorious number now that he’s signed with the Vikings' practice squad
Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell and new Vikings receiver Odell Beckham Jr. spent time together with the Rams, and they both have a Super Bowl ring from it. It was O’Connell’s influence that brought Beckham to Minnesota. Meeting with reporters on Wednesday, Beckham said he had other options after being released by the Giants. He chose the Vikings. “ It seemed as if he wanted me to be here ,” Beckham said as to O’Connell. “And that was expressed to me. And that feels good. . . . It always feels better when you’re doing it for somebody who, you know, you feel like their heart is there for it as well.” With the Giants, his return always felt more like a feel-good story at best, and a publicity stunt at worst. Once the games started, it wasn’t sustainable. Minnesota doesn’t have any marketing or P.R. reason to add Beckham. It’s all about making the team better. And O’Connell, who has had opportunities to sign Beckham in the past but didn’t, apparently believes that, in this specific moment, Beckham can make a difference. The first opportunity could come as soon as Sunday, in a game in his home state of Louisiana against the Saints
