The Jets have agreed to terms with wide receiver Tim Patrick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report it. It’s tough to view Patrick as anything more than a backup. He is 32 years old and only caught 15 passes in 2025 with Jacksonville. Patrick did have back to back 700 yard seasons in 2020 and 2021, but followed that up by missing two full years with a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. These two devastating injuries preceded a steep fall in his production. The Jets have Garrett Wilson , Omar Cooper, and Adonai Mitchell as their projected starters at wide receiver. The team will also likely use a fair share of two tight end sets with Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor . There likely won’t be much playing time for Patrick. Nor should there be. This is a rebuilding team that would be best served giving its game reps to young players. I’d guess the Jets believe Patrick can be a positive locker room influence on a young team. That likely led to the signing more than expectations of production
The Jets officially signed wide receiver Tim Patrick on Thursday. Patrick visited with the team and agreed to terms on a deal for the 2026 season on Wednesday. The Jets waived kicker Will Ferrin in a corresponding move. Patrick will join Garrett Wilson , first-round pick Omar Cooper, and Adonai Mitchell at the top of the team's receiver depth chart. Patrick had 15 catches for 187 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games for the Jaguars last season. Patrick had 176 catches for 2,403 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Lions and Broncos before landing with the Jags. Ferrin signed with the Jets after going undrafted this year. He kicked at BYU and Boise State during his time in college

Personally, I have a difficult time getting too invested in this stuff. We have known the full slate of home and away games for months. I don’t much care when the Jets face each opponent. With the New York Jets spending two first-round picks on rookie pass-catchers in the 2026 NFL Draft, third-year wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has fallen all the way to WR99 in RotoBaller's dynasty rankings. Given his deployment by the Jets following a 2025 mid-season trade from the Colts, he may not be overly impacted by the additions of tight end Kenyon Sadiq and possession receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Both rookies found most of their collegiate success working in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field, particularly over the middle. The two combined to see more than 54% of their 2025 targets between the hashes, within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. By contrast, Mitchell saw only four total targets in that area across his eight games with the Jets, leading all qualified receivers on the team with a 14.6-yard average depth of target while playing more than 80% of his snaps on the outside. The retreading of quarterback Geno Smith and offensive coordinator Frank Reich may not have been the most inspired choices, but the Jets offense appears to be trending in the right direction, and if the 23-year-old Mitchell can clean up the 15.2% drop rate that has plagued him through two seasons in the league, his big-play ability makes him an intriguing low-cost dynasty buy, particularly in best ball formats

The Jets have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with wide receiver Tim Patrick , per multiple reports. The deal is worth slightly more than the veteran salary benefit which goes for $1.075 million, per The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt . Patrick had interest from other teams around the league, but the Jets scooped him up before anybody else as they view him as a culture guy and a quality veteran depth piece at a position that needs it, per Rosenblatt. Along with Garrett Wilson , New York’s depth chart at wide receiver includes AD Mitchel l, rookie Omar Cooper Jr. , Arian Smith , punt returner Isaiah Williams , Irvin Charles and a few others. At 32 years old and entering his seventh NFL season, Patrick will immediately become the elder statesman of the group. After playing four years with the Denver Broncos where he began his career, the veteran missed the 2022 and 2023 seasons, first with a torn ACL and then because of a torn Achilles. Patrick returned to action in 2024 and played for the Detroit Lions before spending last year with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he caught 15 passes for 187 yards and three TDs in 16 games. His best years, though, came in Denver. Between 2020 and 2021, Patrick combined for 1,476 receiving yards on 104 receptions to go along with 11 TDs in 31 games (all starts). In his career, the veteran has accrued 2,590 receiving yards on 191 receptions and 18 TDs in 87 games
