The Jets have two quarterbacks on their roster, Geno Smith and Cade Klunbik. At the moment the number three quarterback is practice squader Bailey Zappe. The team is evidently still considering options, however. Two quarterbacks came to the team facility to work out, including one with a moderately big name. Levis was a a second […]
The Jets are looking at adding another quarterback to their broader roster. According to Zack Rosenblatt of TheAthletic.com, New York worked out Will Levis and Jack Plummer for a spot on the practice squad on Thursday. Levis, a second-round pick in 2023, was waived by the Titans as part of their roster cuts over the weekend and went unclaimed. While he missed the 2025 season due to injury, he started 21 games for Tennessee from 2023-2024, completing 61.0 percent of his passes for 3,899 yards with 21 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Plummer is the UFL’s reigning MVP, having won it for his season with the Orlando Storm. He led the UFL with 2,188 passing yards while tossing 17 touchdowns with just one interception in 10 games. He previously spent time with the Panthers and worked out for the 49ers and Dolphins this summer. New York currently has just rookie Cade Klubnik on its 53-man roster at quarterback behind starter Geno Smith. Veteran Bailey Zappe is on the team’s practice squad

Claim $200 in bonus bets after your first $5 wager at DraftKings here : "If there is one preseason game that moderately matters annually, it's Giants vs. Jets," SportsLine expert Matt Severance said. "Both are 1-1 this preseason. The Jets had won four straight games in the series until a 31-12 "road" loss last year — Gang Green is the designated home team this time. No word on starters on either side, but I often prefer a quarterback competition when backing a team in the preseason. Geno Smith is the unquestioned Jets starter, but the battle for No. 2 is between Brady Cook and rookie Cade Klubnik — Klubnik clearly is in the lead as the former Clemson star has looked excellent. Again, I'm not sure why the "home" team is getting more than a field goal if any points." Bet the Jets at DraftKings here and claim $200 in bonus bets after making a $5+ wager as a new user : "This might be the last game the sorry Dolphins have a chance to actually win for quite a while looking at their early regular-season slate," Severance said. "No doubt the Fins have looked terrible so far in blowout losses to the Commanders and Giants. Wouldn't first-year head coach Jeff Hafley want to enter the season with a modicum of momentum? It's a homecoming for Tua Tagovailoa as he will start under center for the Falcons while being paid about $1.5 million this season by them and $52.5 million by his former Fins team. Michael Penix, meanwhile, will not play. Atlanta has just one preseason win in the past 10, although it was last week." Bet the Dolphins at DraftKings here and claim $200 in bonus bets after making a $5+ wager as a new user : "Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards Jr was named the starter in Bobby Petrino's new UNC offense, and all I ask of the senior is that he works on not turning the ball over," SportsLine expert Micah Roberts said. "It may sound like a simple task, but the QB position at North Carolina turned the ball over too much last season. If they actually score on offense, that will be a bonus, and Bill Belichick's defense will handle the rest. The defense isn't the problem; it should be the star of the team. They just need the offense to stay patient and, once in a while, make some noise with a couple of scores. I'm betting Belichick slows the game down in Ireland and stays close with the chance to win." "And now star rookie defender Rueben Bain Jr. is hurt, although he should be ready for the regular season. If a preseason game can be personal, maybe this will be for Jags head coach and former Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen." Back the Jaguars by claiming the latest BetMGM bonus code CBSSPORTS here : "When I studied QB Jaden Craig at Harvard, he was one of the best QBs in the FCS," SportsLine expert Emory Hunt said. "He's now the starting QB at TCU and gives them a rushing element that they didn't have under last year's QB Josh Hoover. We still don't know what to expect offensively from North Carolina. While defensively they will provide a challenge at the line of scrimmage, over the course of a game I don't believe their offense will be able to play complementary football enough to cover this spread." The Jets defeated the Steelers in preseason action. Nate Lynn provided analysis on special teams, and Randy Lange highlighted the performance of various receivers catching passes from Jets quarterbacks. Geno Smith was noted as a star performer
Quarterback Geno Smith’s first game action since returning to the Jets couldn’t have gone much better. Smith, who sat out last week with a sore ankle, played the first possession of Friday night’s game against the Steelers and went 7-of-7 for 65 yards. His final pass was a 13-yard touchdown to tight end Jelani Woods and head coach Aaron Glenn said after the game that it was just what the team hoped to see from the veteran. “Very very efficient, he looked very comfortable ,” Glenn said, via the team’s website. “Exactly what we were looking for. But again, we still have some things we got to work on because our run game wasn’t where it needs to be.” Glenn said there’s been no decision about playing Smith in the preseason finale next week. Whatever that call turns out to be, Friday night’s outing left the Jets feeling comfortable with the prospect of having Smith back in the saddle for the 2026 season
New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell's chemistry with new Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been "buzzing since the spring," per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. After being acquired by the Jets from the Indianapolis Colts midway through the 2025 season, Mitchell recorded 24 catches for 301 yards and two touchdowns on 58 targets across eight games with New York. The 23-year-old has flashed high-end upside throughout his first two years in the NFL, but he's struggled with game-to-game consistency. While Smith is likely past his prime as he enters his age-36 season, the veteran signal-caller should provide Mitchell with significantly better quarterback play than what he experienced in his first half-season with the Jets. New York also enters 2026 with a clear need for pass-catching talent behind star wideout Garrett Wilson. Mitchell carries late-round sleeper appeal into 2026 for fantasy managers
