The Eagles hired offensive coordinator Sean Mannion after they failed to impress on that side of the ball in 2025 and his plans for the coming season were the chief topic of a press conference on Thursday. Mannion only has two years of NFL coaching experience and both of them came under Matt LaFleur with the Packers. Mannion was asked whether his scheme will resemble what he picked up there and as a player or if it will lean on things the Eagles have done well in the past. “Obviously there’s things I believe in, and there’s things that schematicaly I have a background in,” Mannion said. “But, ultimately, it’s going to be a blend. t’s constantly going to evolve and it’s all with that exact goal in mind. It’s about maximizing things for the players. How do we make the Eagles the best team we can be, and how to make the Eagles offense the best it can be, and how do we put all of our players in a position to really succeed and maximize their strengths.” Quarterback Jalen Hurts will be central to anything that Mannion comes up with and Mannion said there will be “some degree of connection” to things that Hurts is most comfortable doing in order to create a system that gives him room to thrive. Hurts is no stranger to new offensive coordinators and the fit with his current one will help determine how much happier the Eagles are at the end of the 2026 season
Rams head coach Sean McVay recounted a bizarre sequence of events in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, including a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown and another blocked field goal, which led him to question reality. Eagles DT Jordan Davis had a notable 61-yard rumble on a blocked field goal. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts led a game-changing touchdown drive
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links … 9 NFL undrafted free agents that could make their rosters in 2026 – SB Nation Dae’quan Wright, TE, Philadelphia Eagles . The Eagles are hoping to turn around last season’s offensive disasters with a brain trust led by new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, and it would appear that you can expect multi-tight end personnel packages as a major part of that lift. Philly selected Vanderbilt tight end/big receiver Eli Stowers in the second round, and they already have Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra , so you can expect the Eagles to align with this current schematic wave. Another guy who should get an opportunity is Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright, simply because this guy just knows how to get open for big plays — kind of important for Jalen Hurts . Last season, the 6’4”, 246-pound Wright caught 39 passes on 55 targets for 635 yards and five touchdowns, and he was getting it done to all areas of the field. Moreover, Wright is a good enough inline blocker to add to his potential with his new team, as not all Eagles tight ends are great blockers (yes, this is a Grant Calcaterra reference). 2026 NFL Draft’s best UDFA fits: 1 undrafted free agent to watch on each roster – The Athletic Philadelphia Eagles: Deontae Lawson , LB, Alabama. A two-time captain at Alabama who helped keep things together after Nick Saban retired, Lawson (6-2, 226) is a long and lean off-ball linebacker with quick feet and disciplined eyes between the tackles. I’m not sure if he’ll be able to hold up physically on a down-to-down basis, but he could be a valuable special teams/rotational piece. Breaking down contract details for Eagles’ UDFA class of 2026 – NBCSP The money doesn’t always indicate how well these UDFAs are going to perform. Heck, Blankenship got one of the smallest sums of guaranteed money in his rookie class. But it at least tells us how much the Eagles had to pay to entice these players to come to Philly. This year, Ole Miss DB Kapena Gushiken and International Player Pathway program DE Joshua Weru were at the top of the class with $25,000 signing bonuses and total guarantees of $272,500 each. Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster prediction ahead of OTAs – BGN WIDE RECEIVER: DeVonta Smith , Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks , Hollywood Brown , Darius Cooper (5) [11]. Smitty is more than ready to take over as WR1 with A.J. Brown soon to be traded. I don’t think it’ll take us long to realize if Lemon is equipped to be a serious contributor as a rookie or not. I’m cautiously optimistic; it’ll be nice to see evidence of his talents translating to the NFL. Wicks is an underrated player who could thrive with more opportunity in Philly than he saw with the Packers . Brown’s deep threat ability and general veteran competence makes him worth keeping around. Wicks and Brown have combined for five career special teams snaps, so, they’re probably not going to help out in that category. The Eagles need to keep around a dirty work guy or two and Cooper showed he’s capable of playing that role last year while also flashing offensive potential. Johnny Wilson was a tough cut here; he was showing promise before suffering a season-ending injury in August. Would like to see him back on the field first before assuming he’ll pick up where he left off. Elijah Moore has never really been a special teams guy and there are too many players ahead of him on offense, so, he’s more realistically looking at a practice squad spot unless there are injury issues. The Eagles could try to have Britain Covey begin the season on the practice squad, which they’ve done in the past, and use up his temporary elevations early on to be their punt returner. Doing so would buy them time to open up a spot for him if they want him to stay around for the rest of the season. We’ve recently spent time forecasting the Philadelphia Eagles ’ depth chart for the 2026 NFL season. We started with the offense , moved on to the defense , and then finished up with the special teams unit . With OTAs starting up next week , here’s a prediction of who will actually make the final cut down to 53 players. We’ll continue to make updated projections throughout the rest of the offseason to reflect meaningful developments from practices and preseason games. ( For fun, take a look at my 53-man roster projection from this time last year .) QUARTERBACK: Jalen Hurts , Andy Dalton , Cole Payton (3) [3] The Eagles are expecting more from Hurts as a passer this season. It’ll be very interesting to see how he performs and how his future is impacted. The Eagles won’t trade Tanner McKee just to trade him but the guess here is that a team will eventually make a strong enough offer to acquire him. If McKee is gone, Dalton is clearly QB2. It’s been suggested that Payton could have a small role as a rookie ( Taysom Hill packages and/or Tush Push specialist) but he’ll likely be inactive as the emergency third quarterback … at best. It’s entirely possible he doesn’t even make the roster, just like Kyle McCord didn’t last year. RUNNING BACK: Saquon Barkley , Tank Bigsby , Will Shipley (3) [6] Barkley logged 136 fewer touches in 2025 than he took in 2024, so, it stands to reason he’ll be comparatively fresher for 2026. The question of his success is less about him, though, and more about the offensive line improving upon last season’s disappointment. Bigsby was an excellent ball carrier in limited action last season; he logged 5.9 yards per carry! But the Eagles oddly underutilized him and they shouldn’t do that again this year. The coaching staff seems to like Shipley as a dirty work guy (blocking, special teams) who might also contribute in two-minute drill situations. Dameon Pierce could contend for a roster spot but it doesn’t feel necessary to roster a fourth running back when the team could likely keep such a player on the practice squad. WIDE RECEIVER: DeVonta Smith , Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks , Hollywood Brown , Darius Cooper (5) [11] Smitty is more than ready to take over as WR1 with A.J. Brown soon to be traded. TIGHT END: Dallas Goedert , Eli Stowers , Johnny Mundt , Cameron Latu (4) [15] Goedert is still more than a capable pass-catcher but it remains to be seen what the Eagles will get out of him as a blocker. Stowers might have a smaller role than expected as a rookie; his college coaching staff only trusted him as a part-time p

This group of articles will take a look at the newly released Panthers schedule, review the opponents, and take our best guess at predicting the outcomes of each game. Here, we’re starting with the second “quarter” of the schedule, the second four games just after the Week 5 bye. The Eagles are a tough team to figure out this year. They drafted Makai Lemon in the first round and added a couple other wide receivers, and rumors are swirling about AJ Brown ’s impending trade. They also added to an already elite front four by trading for former Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard and retaining Nolan Smith. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are young superstars, and the team added Riq Woolen in free agency to bolster that group even more. While Nakobe Dean walked in free agency, the team drafted Jihaad Campbell last year to help fill that void. Eli Stowers was drafted as well, combining with Dallas Goedert to make a quality tight end group. The Eagles are always talented, but oftentimes they are a bit Jekyll and Hyde. This might continue this year as Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni are still in town. Their defense is still elite, especially along the line and in the secondary. Saquon Barkley is not exactly in his prime, but Tank Bigsby was added as depth. DeVonta Smith combines with the other pass catchers to make a deep and versatile group. Any time a player of AJ Brown’s caliber leaves your team, however, there is bound to be some growing pains. Final: Eagles 24 – Panthers 13 A couple notorious Panthers killers are no longer in Tampa Bay as Lavonte David retired and Mike Evans and Rachaad White left in free agency. They did add quite a bit to their defense, though, signing veterans Alex Anzalone and A’Shawn Robinson. They also drafted Rueben Bain and Josiah Trotter. Baker Mayfield and the coaching staff is mostly intact from last year, though they do have yet another new offensive coordinator. Todd Bowles is undoubtedly on the hot seat, however. The Bucs do still have some talent, including Vita Vea plugging up the middle with Calijah Kancey . Ted Hurst was drafted in the third round to help replace the loss of Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin should be back healthy this season after missing a good chunk of last year. Final: Panthers 28 – Buccaneers 20 The Panthers second prime time game of the year is a Thursday night game at Lambeau. Luckily it’s early enough in the season that the weather should not be too bad. The Packers lost a couple wide receivers in Romeo Doubbs and Dontayvion Wicks . Rashan Gary was traded this offseason, largely because the team hopes Micah Parsons will be back and fully healthy at some point this season. Jordan Love is still the man under center, but they also added Tyrod Taylor as a fully capable backup. The team largely revolves around Love and that dynamic offense. Christian Watson is joined by second year receiver Matthew Golden , free agent Skyy Moore in the receiver room. A relatively weak secondary was addressed in the draft by taking Brandon Cisse and in free agency by signing Benjamin St-Juste . The depth at edge is also a bit of a weakness, especially with Parsons coming back from a torn ACL. The Packers are also going through some transitions on the offensive line, which could cause some issues. Starting left tackle Rasheed Walker left for the Panthers and Elgton Jenkins left in free agency as well. Final: Packers 27 – Panthers 23 The Denver Broncos surprised a lot of people last year, ripping off a 14-3 record largely led by their elite defense. To help on offense, the team added Jaylen Waddle and JK Dobbins. Bo Nix is still under center, and old nemesis Sean Payton and his permanent duck face is still the head coach. The team also still has a very good offensive line together, which will be important with Nix coming off a major ankle injury. The Broncos did not have a pick this year until the third round, so an influx of big name young players did not happen. The Broncos still have

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown married Kelsey Riley on May 16th. While the wedding was a personal milestone, Brown's professional life has seen some strain, including a public criticism of the Eagles' offense and a reported drop in target share. The Eagles are reportedly shopping Brown, with the Rams and Patriots showing interest
The Vikings will only have one home preseason game this summer, but they'll get more than one day of work against their opponents that week. The team announced that they will have two days of joint practices with the Ravens . They are set to work with the AFC North team on August 19 and 20 with the preseason game between the teams scheduled for August 22. Joint practices have been a regular occurrence during Vikings' camp in recent years. They have also worked with the Patriots, Browns , Titans, and Cardinals in recent seasons. The Vikings will visit the Giants and Broncos in their first and third preseason games this summer. The Ravens will be hosting the Eagles and Commanders
When the Pittsburgh Steelers released jersey numbers for their rookie class, fans immediately looked at kick returner/wide receiver Kaden Wetjen in No. 42 and had some questions. The Iowa product let it be known he would have a new number before the season started, and he has now made the change official, switching to No. 10. The number became available after Roman Wilson switched to No. 14, which was the number he wore at Michigan. The Steelers begin their first round of OTAs on Monday. Jalen Hurts' former position coach, Scot Loeffler, stated that Hurts is "super coachable" and a "championship-type of guy," contradicting some previous reports that suggested otherwise. Loeffler explained that their continued training sessions were focused on fundamentals, designed to help Hurts work effectively with the new Eagles coaching staff
Reports of Jalen Hurts being 'uncoachable' in April 2026 are not organic locker room gossip but a repeatable media pattern used to protect the Eagles head coach, according to research by Covers.com. This pattern involves anonymous sources leaking negative stories about the quarterback shortly after criticism is leveled at the head coach, a strategy observed in six instances over the last three seasons. Fan perception and PR experts suggest this blame-shifting tactic damages the franchise's reputation, with upcoming contract talks for Hurts potentially fueling the current wave of negative coverage
The Eagles' 2026 schedule is being criticized for perceived inequities, including facing multiple opponents coming off byes, playing on holidays, and having five prime-time games, a Saturday game, and holiday games, totaling eight nationally televised contests. Despite these challenges, the article notes the Eagles have historically performed well
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a one-year deal that will see the four-time MVP return for a second season in the Steel City. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Rodgers will be getting a significant raise in 2026. “Aaron Rodgers is expected to sign a one-year deal worth up to $25 million,“ Schefter reports . ”The deal is expected to include a base salary between $22 and $23 million, with up to a few million more in incentives.“ Rodgers finished with 24 touchdown passes in 2025, leading the Steelers to their first AFC North title since 2020. The Day After the Day After…when the raw, immediate emotions from the aftermath of a game diminish into the realm of clarity and the proverbial (or literal) hangover no longer haunts the mind. With that, a review of the NFL Schedule Release Get Those Passports Renewed: For the 1st time since 2019, the Houston Texans will leave the country. Confirmed before the official release of the schedule, the Houston Texans are returning to England in Week 6. Their opponent: The Jacksonville Jaguars . The Glitter Kitties will be the home team for this matchup. Actually, it will be the second consecutive overseas home-game for them, which should be an advantage, given their clocks will be more adjusted than Houston’s. Then again, Houston’s last overseas matchup was against said Jaguars. That went pretty well for the Battle Red. Speaking of Travel …: Whether it was the NFL, the Texans or a mutual decision, Houston will not take the bye week after their game in England. They will return home for a dance with the New York Giants of New Jersey, or the New Jersey Giants of New York (whichever your preference). Either way, this could be a tricky stretch for the Texans, as Houston will be trying to get their body clocks back on Central Time, after playing a big divisional matchup, against a tricky opponent in the Giants. This screams trap game. Need to get off to a good start: Houston gets 3 of its first 4 at home. However, the matchups are: Bills, Bengals , Cowboys. Not exactly the easiest way to fit into a season. An 0-3 start this year, with 8 road games after that stretch, will not get it done for Houston this year. And speaking of that stretch, all of those games are slated for 12:00 p.m Central Time Kickoffs. The Bills and Cowboys alone should have probably warranted a primetime slot. At least those games have the likelihood for national level coverage. Thursday Nights are Texans’ Nights: Houston gets four state-side stand-alone/primetime matchups. However, two of those (Indy, at Philly) are Thursday Nighters. Both are short-turnarounds. Given Houston’s 1-2 record in Thursday Night matchups under Ryans, and given the specific matchups, not sure the NFL is doing the Texans any favors here. Then again, the schedule makers do give Houston a nice break between the Week 16 Eagles game and Monday Night Week 17 Matchup against the Packers at Green Bay . Speaking of the second Thursday Night Game… An Early Christmas Gift or the Nightmare Before Christmas ? With the NFL looking to dominate all aspects of the calendar that they possibly can, they are giving Amazon a Christmas Eve game. The result: Houston travels to Philadelphia. A tough, physical game, with a lot of hitting, a lot of talking, and high likelihood of fighting is likely to happen. As for what will happen on the field…well, two physical defenses…yeah, expect a lot of medical supplies to be in the stockings of these players (and the fans) Christmas morning. That is, if Santa Claus can survive the expected aerial assault of batteries and (possible) snowballs. Oh, and remember, no Houston-based NFL team has ever beaten the Eagles. Gulp Social Media Super Bowl: The schedule release has not only become another marker on the NFL calendar, but it also presents an opportunity a franchise’s social media departments to showcase their talents. Why just post a screenshot of the schedule when you can put together a short presentation of some sort, one that would fit well on most modern social media platforms? This really has only become a thing in the post-COVID era, but when more people rely on Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc to get their news, may as well go where the people are. Some teams have better reputations than others for social media content associated with the schedule release. The Chargers usually lead off in most schedule release videos, and they did . The Texans? They tend to live in the middle of the pack in this department. Their most recent fare? Definitely local flavor. Le

The countdown to the 2026 regular season is on now that the NFL schedule is officially released. The Cleveland Browns , New Orleans Saints and Cincinnati Bengals have the three easiest schedules based off the winning percentage of their opponents from last season . While the Chicago Bears , Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals have the toughest road ahead. Divisions might not be able to be won in September and October, but seasons can end prematurely because of those early slates. USA TODAY Sports listed teams who could be in trouble after the 2026 regular season schedule release . Who's on the other end of the spectrum and might benefit from their regular-season schedule? Here are three teams who have favorable paths: OT Tytus Howard: Traded to Cleveland Browns (previous team: Houston Texans) CB Trent McDuffie: Traded to Los Angeles Rams (previous team: Kansas City Chiefs) RB David Montgomery: Traded to Houston Texans (previous team: Detroit Lions) WR DJ Moore: Traded to Buffalo Bills (previous team: Chicago Bears) OT Tytus Howard: Traded to Cleveland Browns (previous team: Houston Texans) OT Tytus Howard: Traded to Cleveland Browns (previous team: Houston Texans) CB Trent McDuffie: Traded to Los Angeles Rams (previous team: Kansas City Chiefs) RB David Montgomery: Traded to Houston Texans (previous team: Detroit Lions) WR DJ Moore: Traded to Buffalo Bills (previous team: Chicago Bears) The Eagles will begin the regular the season with the 10th easiest strength of schedule based off opponent’s winning percentage from 2025. The Eagles host the Washington Commanders to begin the year and then have two straight road games versus Tennessee Titans and Chicago Bears. It’s conceivable the Eagles fly out to a 3-0 start before they host the Los Angeles Rams in a Week 4 showdown. Of Philadelphia’s first nine games, four are against divisional opponents, three of which are at home. Then the Eagles have an ideal bye in the middle of the season in Week 10. The Eagles do have a tough three-week stretch against the Indianapolis Colts , Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans from Weeks 14-17, but all the games are at home, plus they’ll host Houston on a short week on Thursday night. The Eagles got off to an 8-2 start last year. Their schedule this year gives them a path for another hot start and they’ll have home field advantage for most of their toughest opponents. Remember the Ravens’ 1-5 start last year? The Ravens don’t play a 2025 playoff team until they travel to Buffalo in Week 8. The Ravens have an intriguing road game versus the Indianapolis Colts to start the year and then host the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 before traveling to Rio De Janeiro to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. November might be the Ravens’ most difficult month as they have five games – at Buffalo Bills , vs. Jacksonville Jaguars , vs. Los Angeles Chargers , at Carolina Panthers and at Houston Texans – versus teams that made the playoffs last season. Baltimore does have a late Week 13 bye, but they’ll receive much-needed rest before they close the regular season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and all three AFC North rivals, including the Pittsburgh Steelers twice. If the Ravens handle business before their Week 13 bye, they could separate themselves from the division in December. Can the Lions roar back into the playoffs? Detroit's schedule is favorable: The Lions own the sixth easiest strength of schedule based off their opponent’s winning percentage from last season. Of the Lions’ first five games, four are against teams who finished below .500 in 2025, including a Week 1 home opener versus the New Orleans Saints and a Week 3 home tilt against the New York Jets . After the Lions’ Week 6 bye, they have two straight home contests against the division rival Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings before they travel to Miami to take on the rebuilding Dolphins in Week 9. The Lions have a difficult Week 10 game versus the New England Pa

Unfortunately, very little went the team’s way last year and, after starting 2-0, they finished 3-14, ending the year on a torturous nine-game losing streak. Yet, what that tawdry record doesn’t indicate is that a whopping games were lost by seven points or less. Had they just gotten the job done, Kyler Murray and head coach Jonathan Gannon may have stuck around. Sadly, that wasn’t in the…ummm…cards. Instead, this year, Mike LaFleur inherits head coaching duties and Jacoby Brissett — who started 14 games in ’25 and went 1-11 — returns. To add insult to injury, the squad has the third-toughest schedule of any team in the NFL. Notable opponents dropping into Glendale, Ariz.’s State Farm Stadium this year include Jared Goff ’s Detroit Lions (Oct. 11), Bo Nix ’s Denver Broncos (Oct. 25), Matthew Stafford ’s Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 15), Jalen Hurts ’ Philadelphia Eagles (Dec. 6) and Brock Purdy ’s San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 9 or 10 in the final game of the regular season. Plus, Sam Darnold ’s defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will be swinging in too on Sunday, Sept. 20 aka the Cards’ home opener. Thankfully, Brissett and the Cardinals got a bit of insurance in standout rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, as well as draft picks Chase Bisontis, Carson Beck and Kaleb Proctor. Offseason acquisitions Devin Duvernay , Isaac Seumalo , Tyler Allgeier , Kendrick Bourne and quarterback insurance Gardner Minshew join them. Franchise tight end Trey McBride , 2025 star signee Josh Sweat , starting wideout Michael Wilson , elite safety Budda Baker and offensive line anchor Paris Johnson Jr. return, too.
