Coach confirms Daniel Jones will remain the Colts' starting QB amid struggles
Colts coach Shane Steichen says he isn’t benching quarterback Daniel Jones. Steichen said today that he still believes Jones is the best quarterback on the team, even after a dismal performance in Sunday’s 42-7 loss to the Jaguars dropped the Colts to 2-6. “I feel that Daniel gives us the best chance to win right now,” Steichen said. On Sunday, Steichen benched Jones late in the game and gave Anthony Richardson his first playing time of the season. Richardson threw two passes, completing both of them for eight yards, and also took a sack that lost 10 yards. Richardson also had a five-yard run. The Colts have already traded away two starters and would surely be willing to trade either Jones or Richardson if any other team wants them, but for now Steichen says he’s coaching to win, and that Jones gives him the best chance to win
Colts coach Shane Steichen affirms Daniel Jones as the team's starting QB
The article suggests the Minnesota Vikings should pursue a trade for quarterback Daniel Jones from the Indianapolis Colts, viewing him as a potential immediate upgrade over Kyler Murray. It notes that the Colts are in a pre-rebuild phase and may look to trade Jones to acquire draft picks, while the Vikings, despite initial interest in Jonathan Taylor, should prioritize Jones for their quarterback needs
Head coach Shane Steichen said that Jones will remain the Colts' starting quarterback heading into Sunday's game against the Colts, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports. After a 42-7 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday during which Jones was benched in the fourth quarter, Steichen suggested that he would evaluate every position, including quarterback. While some changes could still be afoot for the 2-6 Colts, Steichen will apparently stand pat at center with Jones, at least for one more week

Colts coach Shane Steichen discusses Daniel Jones' role
Daniel Jones ended Sunday’s 42-7 loss to the Jaguars on the bench and Colts head coach Shane Steichen was asked if the quarterback will be spending more time there in the future. Jones was pulled in favor of Anthony Richardson after throwing his second interception of the game in the fourth quarter. It marked the first time that Richardson has gotten on the field this season and some have wondered if the 2023 first-round pick will get another chance in the starting job before his rookie deal is up. Steichen said, via James Boyd of TheAthletic.com, that the Colts are evaluating everything in light of a performance that can only be described as dreadful on Sunday. That’s not specific to Jones, but he bares almost no resemblance to the quarterback that had the Colts off to a great start during the 2025 season and he may still be limited by the torn Achilles that wound up ending his season. The Colts will host the Cowboys next Sunday and then face the Dolphins, Titans and Giants before a Week 13 bye. That Giants game would be a reunion for Jones, but it remains to be seen what role he’ll be in by that point in the season

Colts HC Shane Steichen evaluating Daniel Jones' role as starting QB after poor performance
There's arguably nothing scarier than settling down on Sunday morning, getting ready for the new slate to unfold, and having no clue what to wager on. This week in particular can leave some folks on their heels in the betting sphere. After all, when you're out all night trick-or-treating on Saturday night, who has the time to comb through all the latest news, injury updates, and anything else that could swing a game? Well, fortunately for you, you've come to the right place. We've fended off the urge to hunt for M&M's, Reese's, and other candy while dressed like our favorite comic-book hero and kept our eyes on the real prize: cashing our Week 8 bets. Below, you can find a pick for every matchup on the docket for Week 8, as well as five best bets. So, crack open some of your trick-or-treating haul from Halloween and let's bet! Note : New Orleans, New York ( Giants ), San Francisco, and Houston are on the bye in Week 8. The Colts are already selling off parts amid a 2-5 start to the year, which includes a three-game losing skid entering Week 8. It's hard to see a scenario where things change for the better this weekend, as they'll head to Jacksonville to face a 4-2 Jaguars team that'll be fresh off its bye week. Coming into this slate, the Colts have a claim to be one of the worst offenses in the NFL . Their 4.5 yards-per-play average is tied for the worst in the league with the Eagles , and a large part of those issues lies at quarterback. Daniel Jones has yet to rekindle the version of himself from the first half of last year and has thrown an interception in all but one game so far in 2026. Jones ranks 31st out of 33 eligible quarterbacks in passer rating this season, while his EPA per dropback ranks 30th. Among quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts this year, Jones is tied for the second-highest turnover-worth-per-throw rate. He now faces a Jaguars pass defense that is just outside the top-10 in the league with an 87.7 passer rating allowed. They're also tied for the third-most interceptions (7) in the league. Conversely, you have Trevor Lawrence playing like an MVP candidate and should face little resistance from a Colts defense that has just two interceptions on the year. Projected score : Jaguars 33, Colts 20 The pick : Jaguars -10 The Bengals showed us their potential during their 35-point second-half outburst in the win over Baltimore. If anything close to that version of the Bengals is on the field on Sunday, Tennessee doesn't have a puncher's chance of keeping this close, especially after trading standout defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Bears earlier this week. The Titans' passing offense doesn't have the ceiling to go toe-to-toe with Joe Burrow , as the club ranks 29th in passer rating and is tied for last in yards per attempt. While Cincinnati's offense garners much of the headlines, the Bengals' defense has been an underrated unit this season and was a key reason they were able to endure an offense-free first half in Week 7. Zac Taylor's defense has the third-best red zone efficiency (35% touchdown rate) in the NFL. That matches up well against a Tennessee red zone offense that scores a touchdown on just 47.4% of trips (27th in the NFL). Projected score : Bengals 35, Titans 21 The pick : Bengals -12.5 In theory, the Chargers would've spent the bye week figuring out what has gone wrong in their 0-6 start to the year and come out firing in Week 8, when they'll technically be the road team but will be at their home stadium as they face the Rams at SoFi Stadium. I just don't see them putting together much of a fight, however. Justin Herbert has been among the worst quarterbacks in the league so far this season and comes into Week 8 with a league-high 5.6% turnover-worthy throw rate. While the Rams haven't generated many turnovers, they have five interceptions this year, showing they are more than capable of taking advantage of any opportunity Herbert gives them. The Rams are also giving up ju [... truncated ...]
