Saquon Barkley has missed time with a hamstring issue and looked far from 100% in his Week 7 return. He will play despite having hamstring and back ailments. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) and linebacker Jihaad Campbell (hamstring/quad) are all out as well. The Commanders, meanwhile, are in dire straits, and coach Dan Quinn could really use a win coming out of the bye. Jayden Daniels has played well since returning from his elbow dislocation, but he will be without Terry McLaurin , who suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in Week. Primetime scares: The game is happening one day after Halloween, but primetime has been spooky time for Washington. The team has lost six straight primetime games. Only the Colts (seven straight) have a longer active losing streak. The Eagles' offensive struggles are to be expected. The defensive struggles last week against the Cowboys were surprising, and the unit simply has too much talent to perform like that. It also performed very well in Week 1 against Washington, and I anticipate a return to closer to that form. The Cowboys saved their season, at least for another week, and the Eagles’ postseason hopes took a huge hit Monday night. Dallas beat Philadelphia 38-21 to end a two-game losing streak and move to 3-4. The Eagles, who are decimated by injuries, have lost five in a row to fall to 2-5. They started the game without quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, among others, and finished it without running backs Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce. Barkley, who was returning after missing two games with a hamstring injury, left with a back injury. He had seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 9 yards in limited usage before his new injury. Pierce left in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury after 14 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown. The game was back-and-forth for most of the night, with six lead changes. The last came on CeeDee Lamb’s 16-yard touchdown reception and Dak Prescott’s 2-point conversion that gave the Cowboys a 28-21 lead with 1:30 left in the third quarter. Saquon Barkley scores on second carry for 7-3 Eagles lead
The Cowboys got a 55-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey to end their first drive. The Eagles did even better. Despite missing starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, the Eagles had no problem going right down the field. That’s because Saquon Barkley is back. The Eagles running back, who is returning from a hamstring injury, caught a dump off from Tanner McKee for a 12-yard gain. Barkley then went 29 yards on the next play, though it appeared he aggravated his hamstring after awkwardly getting around safety Caleb Downs. With Barkley on the sideline for one play, McKee connected with rookie Makai Lemon for 21 yards. After an offsides penalty on Cowboys defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, Barkley went around the right side for an easy 8-yard touchdown. The Eagles lead 7-3 with 10:25 left in the first quarter. The Eagles will have outside linebackers Jonathan Greenard (ankle) and Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle) tonight. Both are active. Greenard and Hunt went into today with questionable designations. Greenard missed Week 5 with his injury and had no designation in Week 6 and played 24 of 79 snaps against the Panthers last week. He has been on the injury report every week this season and missed the first two games with a pectoral injury. Hunt missed last week’s game with his injury. Running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is also dressed as he returns after missing the past two games. The Eagles will start Tanner McKee at quarterback, and former Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton will serve as McKee’s backup. The Eagles’ inactives are outside linebacker Nolan Smith (concussion), wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring), wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (ankle), quarterback Cole Payton, defensive back Michael Carter II (abdomen) and offensive lineman Jake Majors.
