When the Miami Dolphins reconvene for training camp at the end of the month, they will do so with one of the league's most unproven wide receiver rooms, giving third-year veteran Malik Washington a chance to earn an important starting role. Washington caught 46 passes for the Dolphins in 2025, which trails only De'Von Achane among the handful of players still with the team, while free agent acquisitions Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and Terrace Marshall Jr. combined for only 24 receptions last season. Miami spent three of its 13 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on receivers, but with the headliner of that group, Chris Bell, still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in his final game with Louisville, some of Washington's stiffest competition for a spot atop the depth chart could come from third-rounder Caleb Douglas and fifth-rounder Kevin Coleman Jr. With a new coaching staff and a new quarterback in Malik Willis, the Dolphins will be rebuilding their offense from scratch. If Washington can earn his way into a featured role, he's a smart bet to outperform his current ADP of WR70, though how much of a difference that will actually mean for fantasy is still up for debate, as Miami projects to have one of the lowest-scoring offenses in the league

Caleb Douglas Not Yet Worth a Redraft Pick

Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Caleb Douglas has a path to snaps, but that alone does not make him a redraft sleeper. Miami selected him 75th overall after he posted 54 catches for 846 yards and seven touchdowns at Texas Tech, his second straight season with at least 54 receptions and 840 yards. At 6-foot-4 with a 4.39-second 40, Douglas brings a size-speed profile that stands out in an unsettled receiver room. The opportunity is real after the Dolphins released Tyreek Hill and traded Jaylen Waddle. So is the competition. Miami is also replacing Tua Tagovailoa after releasing him and signing Malik Willis. Douglas is currently WR107 and 265th overall in RotoBaller's PPR rankings. That is deep-league territory, not a player fantasy managers need to force onto standard rosters. Douglas is worth tracking through training camp, especially if he earns regular outside snaps, but he can stay undrafted in most 12-team leagues for now

The Miami Dolphins made a discovery last year when they signed free agent tight end Greg Dulcich, first to the practice squad, then to the active roster. In 10 games played, including three starts, he caught 26 passes for 335 yards with one touchdown. He played well enough to earn a new contract with the team this offseason, even with the franchise’s changes to the front office and coaching staff. Which brings us to today’s discussion. Is Greg Dulcich a Hall of Fame tight end? Of course not. But, since it was (sarcastically) suggested as a slow news period headline for the site, I thought it would be funny to make it show up today. Dulcich may not be a future Hall of Fame selection, but he does have a great opportunity this year to move from being a fringe player in the league to a solid contributor as a starter for the Dolphins this year. “Yeah, I want to play as much football as I can,” Dulcich explained earlier this month when asked about the potential for an expanded role this year. “I think that’s kind of the team we have. Everyone wants to contribute as much as possible and yeah, everyone’s hungry so it’s a cool group to be a part of.” Dulcich discussed the addition of quarterback Malik Willis this year, and how he can build chemistry with the free agent addition. “Yeah, that’s kind of what OTAs and everything is about, just kind of building that trust, that chemistry,” he stated. “It’s just reps. The more reps you get, the more comfortable you get with each other and you kind of see the field in a similar way.” Asked about the skill set Willis brings to the Dolphins, Dulcich got excited as he replied, “Oh, man. He’s a stud. He can rip the ball. Sees the field great. Obviously, he’s mobile, but he’s got great pocket presence as well. Our quarterback room is awesome. We got a lot of good dudes in there so I’m excited about it.” He added, speaking of the velocity Willis puts on this throws, “Yeah, I mean, dude, he gets it out there. Like I said, he can definitely rip it.” Dulcich has always been a player who had to work his way up. He was a walk-on at UCLA in 2019, earning a scholarship in 2020 and leading the team in receiving yards and touchdowns that season. After the 2021 season, he declared for the NFL Draft and was selected in the third round by the Denver Broncos . Injuries shortened his first two seasons, then he only played in four games in 2024 before the Broncos waived him. He was claimed by the New York Giants , but he did not record a reception in five games for the Giants. He was waived by the Giants at the end of the 2025 preseason, signing to Miami ’s practice squad after clearing waivers. “Yeah, something like that kind of helped out, especially last year starting on practice squad,” Dulcich explained about continuing to battle in the NFL and the comparison to his growth from walkon to starter at UCLA. “You got to know the player that you are. You got to keep that confidence, and when you get your opportunities you just got to take them. So been very fortunate and certainly grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had. Asked about how he feels being the veteran in the tight end group this year, Dulcich replied, “Yeah, well, I think Cole (Turner) might be a little older than me age wise, but yeah, it’s a great room and the rookies – Will (Kacmarek) and Seydou (Traore) – they’re doing a great job, excited about them. Ben (Sims) showed up today, did a great job and Cole has been doing awesome. So it’s a really cool room, I’m excited about it.” As his role in the Dolphins grows, Dulcich continues to work to grow his game as well. We’re officially smack dab in the doldrums of summer when it comes to the National Football League. Free agency has slowed to a crawl, the NFL Draft has come and gone, and teams are on break until late next month when training camps open around the league. With little news to report, media outlets are scrambling to churn out content, which means lists and rankings are hitting the internet on the daily. Today’s list comes from Bill Barnwell of ESPN. He’s ranking all 32 skill position groups (running backs, tight ends and wide receivers) to see which teams have the best playmakers surrounding their quarterbacks. Unfortunately for Miami ’s new signal-caller, Malik Willis , Barnwell thinks the Dolphins have the worst skill position players in the entire league. “Unfortunately, this might be the worst receiving corps I’ve seen assembled on purpose by an NFL team in recent memory. Third and fourth wideouts such as Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell are the veterans being forced into starting roles. Third-round picks Chris Bell and Caleb Douglas — who might be fourth or fifth wideouts in other lineups — are going to be pushed into the lineup by midseason. I’m a little excited about Greg Dulcich , who was second in the NFL in yards per route run among tight ends from Week 9 onward last season, but he’ll need to be prime Travis Kelce to make this group of receivers work.” Yikes. It seems harsh, but in all honesty, Barnwell is being realistic. It’s hard to get excited about what Miami will trot out at wide receiver, unless one or two of the rookies surprise in a major way. While Miami’s pass catchers are suspect, Barnwell does give running back De’Von Achane his flowers. “De’Von Achane is the last one standing from the group that ranked among the best in the NFL two years ago. Achane is a legitimately great back, capable of both patiently getting what’s blocked and producing spectacularly explosive big plays if given any sort of open space. I worry he won’t see much of that playing within the structure of this offense in 2026, but we’re evaluating the fourth-year pro independent of the players around him.” It’s going to be a tough year in South Florida regarding this once proud franchise. Hopefully, despite the lack of significant weapons, the organization is able to get a solid read on whether or not Willis is the quarterback to build around moving foward, because if this season goes as poorly as many are predicting, Miami will be picking high enough in the draft to replace him with a standout collegiate passer once the 2027 NFL Draft arrives… if they need to

The Miami Dolphins are all done with their offseason program and can now turn their focus towards training camp next month. Some players stood above the rest while others did not perform as great. QB Malik Willis , while not perfect, made plenty of plays and looked to make the players around him better.
