The Jets have agreed to terms with wide receiver Tim Patrick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report it. It’s tough to view Patrick as anything more than a backup. He is 32 years old and only caught 15 passes in 2025 with Jacksonville. Patrick did have back to back 700 yard seasons in 2020 and 2021, but followed that up by missing two full years with a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. These two devastating injuries preceded a steep fall in his production. The Jets have Garrett Wilson , Omar Cooper, and Adonai Mitchell as their projected starters at wide receiver. The team will also likely use a fair share of two tight end sets with Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor . There likely won’t be much playing time for Patrick. Nor should there be. This is a rebuilding team that would be best served giving its game reps to young players. I’d guess the Jets believe Patrick can be a positive locker room influence on a young team. That likely led to the signing more than expectations of production

With the New York Jets spending two first-round picks on rookie pass-catchers in the 2026 NFL Draft, third-year wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has fallen all the way to WR99 in RotoBaller's dynasty rankings. Given his deployment by the Jets following a 2025 mid-season trade from the Colts, he may not be overly impacted by the additions of tight end Kenyon Sadiq and possession receiver Omar Cooper Jr. Both rookies found most of their collegiate success working in the short-to-intermediate areas of the field, particularly over the middle. The two combined to see more than 54% of their 2025 targets between the hashes, within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. By contrast, Mitchell saw only four total targets in that area across his eight games with the Jets, leading all qualified receivers on the team with a 14.6-yard average depth of target while playing more than 80% of his snaps on the outside. The retreading of quarterback Geno Smith and offensive coordinator Frank Reich may not have been the most inspired choices, but the Jets offense appears to be trending in the right direction, and if the 23-year-old Mitchell can clean up the 15.2% drop rate that has plagued him through two seasons in the league, his big-play ability makes him an intriguing low-cost dynasty buy, particularly in best ball formats

Two weeks ago tonight, the Jets made three picks in the first round of the draft. One of them is now under contract. The Jets have announced that tight end Kenyon Sadiq, the 16th overall pick in the 2026 draft, has agreed to terms . The Jets also selected edge rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 overall pick. They traded back into round one to pick receiver Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 30. “Sadiq was a player that, obviously we studied, spent a lot of time on and valued as an offensive weapon and when he was there it was really a no-brainer for us, just to add another weapon to the offense,” G.M. Darren Mougey said, per the team’s official website. “And [offensive coordinator Frank Reich’s] got a great vision for the player and how we can use him in multiple ways and get in 12 personnel, and do different things and just use him as another weapon and make it tough on the defense.” The 2011 CBA has made it much easier to get rookie contracts finished. Previously, the process of signing first-round picks didn’t begin until after July 4. Now, most players agree to terms before Memorial Day. All players should expect their contracts before they set foot on the practice field for the rookie minicamp. Work is work. There’s no sense in going to work without officially being an employee
