The New York Jets used two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft on the offensive side of the ball, with TE Kenyon Sadiq being one of those choices. But despite the high pedigree, Sadiq isn't getting fantasy football recognition as a rookie. At least, not based on early ADP for the tight end. Justin Boone is joined by Fantasy Life's Dwain McFarland to talk about why it's worth taking a flyer on Sadiq in drafts going into his rookie campaign in New York. Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season As of now, Sadiq is going off the board as the TE20 via FantasyPros and Yahoo . McFarland is getting in on that fun, given the first-round talent. Sure, the Jets have Omar Cooper Jr., Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell getting buzz out of camp, and former second-round pick TE Mason Taylor is also competing for targets along with Sadiq, says McFarland, who admits there are a lot of ways things may not work out with the rookie in fantasy. But anything can happen. One injury or a player underperforming could open the doorway for more touches for Sadiq. But the projections are telling another story and there are plenty of question marks surrounding Geno Smith's ability to run this offense at a high level. There's also RB Breece Hall, who should get plenty of looks in the passing game out of the backfield. While Sadiq is coming back from hernia surgery and hasn't been on the practice field, McFarland is still buying shares in hopes he repays his low ADP. Boone points out that a lot of fantasy managers aren't patient enough with rookies early in the season. Managers will draft a player like Sadiq and cut him loose if he doesn't produce right away. Boone could totally see a scenario in which Sadiq is cut after the first month and as the year progresses, more opportunity opens up

Taylor said this month that he sees “endless opportunities” to make plays in Reich’s offense because the coach “likes to use” tight ends and those opportunities will be enhanced because wide receiver Garrett Wilson is also going to be on the field. “Everyone’s going to have their role and I just think it’s going to be really exciting because we’re going to be unstoppable actually because there’s so many options and if you want to shut down the tight ends, then there’s Garrett and the receivers,” Taylor said, via the team’s website. Unstoppable is rarely a term associated with Jets offenses and quarterback Geno Smith’s recent play will make it hard for some to share Taylor’s optimism, but the addition of Sadiq and first-round wideout Omar Cooper to Taylor, Wilson and running back Breece Hall gives the Jets a more complete set of weapons than they had to work with last season

Through the spring and summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Chase Curtis. Name: Chase Curtis Number: 87 Year With Jets: 1st Projected Role: Tight end practice squad contender His 2025: Curtis’ final season at TCU saw him register 13 catches for 167 yards, and 2 touchdowns. The Jets signed him as a free agent after he went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft. 2026 will be a success if: Curtis shows enough potential in training camp and the exhibition games to earn a practice squad slot. He is the longest of long shots to make the 53 man roster. He has a lot of development to do as a wide receiver. It would be tough to count on him to do much blocking. At a listed weight of 235 pounds, he would be one of the smallest tight ends in the league. There also aren’t many open roster spots at the position. Kenyon Sadiq , Mason Taylor , and Jeremy Ruckert are locks to be on the roster. There is no guarantee the Jets will keep a fourth. If they do, veteran Jelani Woods likely has the inside track. Curtis would do well by merely snagging a practice squad spot and giving himself a chance to continue developing. Odds of making the roster: Longshot (<25%)

Mason Taylor's Dynasty Value Takes a Hit for Now
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor saw his dynasty value drop this past offseason. The Jets spent a first-round pick on Kenyon Sadiq, who projects to be the Jets' primary tight end from Day 1. That leaves Taylor, who was a second-round pick in 2025, in a backup role. Although there's still a possibility for Taylor to carve out standalone value, managers should temper expectations. First of all, the Jets had the 10th-fewest snaps in 12 personnel last year, which means we didn't see them use two tight ends a lot. They should roll out 12 personnel more often this year now that they have both Sadiq and Taylor, but we question whether it'll happen more than the league-average rate. Additionally, this offense is not set up to support two fantasy-relevant tight ends at once. It's very challenging for any NFL offense to achieve that, and the Jets probably aren't up for the challenge in a rebuild year with Geno Smith under center. Taylor is a solid handcuff in case Sadiq gets hurt, but he's falling out of favor in most fantasy leagues. He has dropped to TE23 in RotoBaller's latest dynasty fantasy football rankings

Jets aim to bolster depth by signing veteran wide receiver

The Jets have agreed to terms with wide receiver Tim Patrick. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report it. It’s tough to view Patrick as anything more than a backup. He is 32 years old and only caught 15 passes in 2025 with Jacksonville. Patrick did have back to back 700 yard seasons in 2020 and 2021, but followed that up by missing two full years with a torn ACL and a torn Achilles. These two devastating injuries preceded a steep fall in his production. The Jets have Garrett Wilson , Omar Cooper, and Adonai Mitchell as their projected starters at wide receiver. The team will also likely use a fair share of two tight end sets with Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor . There likely won’t be much playing time for Patrick. Nor should there be. This is a rebuilding team that would be best served giving its game reps to young players. I’d guess the Jets believe Patrick can be a positive locker room influence on a young team. That likely led to the signing more than expectations of production

Mason Taylor Falls a Rung Down the Depth Chart
New York Jets tight end Mason Taylor saw his fantasy value take a hit on Thursday night. The Jets used one of their three first-round picks on Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, an athletic pass-catcher who was regarded as the top draft prospect at his position. Sadiq had 51 catches, 560 yards, and eight touchdowns just last year at Oregon, and he should slot in as the Jets' No. 1 tight end immediately. That pushes Taylor down to No. 2, just 12 months after the Jets spent a second-round pick on him. It's tough news for dynasty managers, as it had seemed like Taylor was trending up following his 44 catches, 369 yards, and one touchdown as a rookie last year. Instead, the 21-year-old LSU product will fall to second on the depth chart, taking him off the fantasy radar in most leagues as long as Sadiq is healthy

Taylor will face increased competition for targets and playing time at tight end, as Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that the Jets drafted Kenyon Sadiq 16th overall Thursday. Sadiq has more upside as a pass catcher than Taylor, as the rookie first-round pick had 51 catches for 560 yards and eight touchdowns at Oregon in 2025 and set a position record with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. That being said, Cimini believes Taylor will still get plenty of playing time, with the Jets likely to use a lot of formations featuring multiple tight ends.
