Running back contract values have been rising, with five big deals signed this offseason surpassing a 4% cap threshold. This indicates a strong likelihood of RB1-level volume for players like Christian McCaffrey, De’Von Achane, Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker III, Jeremiyah Love, and Travis Etienne Jr. The article discusses how these contracts provide clarity on a team's commitment to a running back, making them steadier fantasy picks. Even with potential competition, like Bhayshul Tuten for Etienne in New Orleans, or existing veteran RBs like Alvin Kamara, the substantial contracts signal a significant role

The Cleveland Browns 2026 schedule is out, and there is a lot to digest. The Browns have a difficult early schedule based on a large number of road games . If they can stay around .500 going into their bye week, Cleveland could make a push for a playoff spot with a lot of late-season home contests. Given the Week 1 and Super Bowl betting odds , there is a lot of skepticism about that happening. While we have known for a while who the Browns would be playing this year, the schedule provides context for those games. Given how the schedule sets up, there are five games that have changed their difficulty level. Week 4 Browns vs Steelers – Harder Almost every Thursday Night Football game is more difficult for both teams. In this case, a young Cleveland team has its only primetime game scheduled in the first quarter of the year, and it is their first AFC North matchup. As a veteran-laden team, Pittsburgh will likely be more prepared for this contest, even though it is on the road. Just a lot of pressure for a young Browns team. Week 5 Browns vs Jets – Easier Strictly due to rest, Cleveland’s first game in New York became slightly easier due to their mini-bye week. The Jets will play in Chicago on Sunday, October 4th, while the Browns will have been resting since Thursday night, October 1st. A small benefit for Cleveland. Sign up for a user account and get: Fewer ads Create community posts Comment on articles, community posts Rec comments, community posts New, improved notifications system! Week 8 Browns vs Steelers – Easier Last year, Cleveland decided not to have their bye week right after their international game and found itself facing Pittsburgh the following week. That has been reversed in 2026, with the Steelers traveling to Paris in Week 7 before facing the Browns in Week 8. At least Pittsburgh gets to stay at home, unlike Cleveland last year. Week 9 Browns vs Saints – Harder Not only does New Orleans get Cleveland on their third straight road game, but the Saints will be coming off their Week 8 bye week as well. There may not be a worse combination of non-roster factors in any NFL game this year. The Browns have a strong negative with their road schedule, while the Saints have strong positives coming off their bye and being at home. If ever there was a game that felt like a schedule loss, this is it (the first of two). Week 10 Browns vs Texans – Harder Coming off three straight road games, including their furthest trip of the season in Week 9 in New Orleans, Cleveland faces the Houston Texans and their dominant defense right before their Week 11 bye week. If ever there was a game that felt like a schedule loss, this is the second in a row. The Texans will be on the road for the second week, after facing the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9, but the Browns might already be on their bye week mentally, and physically drained from almost a month of travel. Week 12 Browns vs Raiders – Easier The best stretch of Cleveland’s season is having its bye weeks surrounded by four home games. The Browns won’t have to leave Ohio for over a month, and get to face Las Vegas a week after a big divisional game (vs the Broncos ) and in their second straight road game. None of that means Cleveland will for sure win the easier contests or are certain to lose the games that got harder, just that each matchup now has new variables in play. Which of the above games do you think has changed the most due to how the Browns schedule lines up? Is there another game that you think changed more than these 6 based on the schedule? The new Breece Hall contract with the Jets has been widely characterized as having a value of $45.75 million over three years . That equates to an average of $15.25 million per year. The full details of the contract have arrived at PFT HQ. We’ll see below whether the numbers match the reports. Here they are, per a source with knowledge of the terms: 1. Signing bonus: $5 million. 2. 2026 90-man roster bonus: $5 million, fully guaranteed. 3. 2026 base salary: $5.16 million, fully guaranteed. 4. 2026 48-man per-game roster bonus: $340,000 total, fully guaranteed (but must be earned). 5. 2027 base salary: $13.16 million, fully guaranteed. 6. 2027 48-man per-game roster bonus: $340,000 total, fully guaranteed (but must be earned). 7. 2028 base salary: $14.16 million. 8. 2028 48-man per-game roster bonus: $340,000. The contract includes $750,000 per year in incentives. He’s eligible for $250,000 each year for making it to the Pro Bowl roster, $250,000 each year for gaining 1,416 yards from scrimmage, and $250,000 each year for scoring seven rushing touchdowns. The per-year average of the base package is $14.5 million, not $15.25 million. The incentives, if earned, would push the average to $15.25 million annually. The deal fully guarantees the first two seasons, at $29 million in total pay. Hall was eligible for a one-year, $14.293 million salary under the franchise tag. He had not accepted it. The contract, therefore, isn’t an extension; there was nothing to extend. It’s a new, three-year deal that replaces the tag
The 2026 NFL schedule release is finally here and the schedule will be released in its entirety tonight, but we already know some matchups — and therefore some odds for games. The Seattle Seahawks will open the season on Wednesday, Sept. 9, hosting the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl LX rematch. The Seahawks are 4.5-point favorites. There is an ever increasing slate of international games — nine in total this season — including the first-ever NFL game played in Australia between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams . The game is on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET and the Rams are 2.5-point favorites. We also know the Thanksgiving games — headlined by Josh Allen ’s Buffalo Bills hosting Patrick Mahomes ’ Kansas City Chiefs as 2.5-point favorites on Thursday night — and that we have the NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Eve game between the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams. Good morning Gang Green Nation! The NFL will release the 2026 schedule for all 32 teams today. If history is any indicator, most of the schedule will be leaked prior to the official release. Week 1 : The Chiefs will host the Broncos on “Monday Night Football” to open the season. Week 12: The Chiefs are rumored to play the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving night, per NFL Nerd on X . Home: Denver Broncos , Los Angeles Chargers , Las Vegas Raiders , Indianapolis Colts , Arizona Cardinals , New England Patriots , New York Jets , San Francisco 49ers Away: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders, Atlanta Falcons , Buffalo Bills , Cincinnati Bengals , Miami Dolphins , Los Angeles Rams , Seattle Seahawks 9 games will be against a playoff team from last season, including both participants in Super Bowl LX: the Patriots and the Seahawks. That was also the case in 2022, when Kansas City took on both the Bengals and the Rams after those two teams faced off in Super Bowl LVI. Outside of division matchups, the Chiefs will have just two rematches: The Bills in Buffalo, although this time, it will be at New Highmark Stadium. Last year, Kansas City lost 28-21 in a Week 9 bout in Orchard Park. The Colts at Arrowhead Stadium is the same situation as last year’s matchup that ended in a 23-20 overtime victory for the Chiefs in Week 12. Before knowing the order and times of Kansas City’s 2026 matchups with these opponents, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs’ over/under line for regular-season victories at 10.5 wins. The only AFC team with a higher line currently is the Baltimore Ravens , who have the over/under set at 11.5 wins, tied with the Rams for the highest line set by FanDuel . Kansas City is tied for the second-highest line among all NFL teams, along with the Bills, 49ers, Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles , and Detroit Lions . There’s a lot of change happening in Miami , but one familiar face is sticking for the long term. Running back De’Von Achane agreed to a four-year extension worth up to $68 million to stay with the Dolphins, according to multiple reports. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Achane will get $32 million guaranteed and is now the NFL’s third-highest-paid running back at $17 million per season. Thus ends the rumors of any trades of Achane, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. Miami general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan said in April that the 2025 Pro Bowler was not going to be dealt and teams would have to look for their running back needs elsewhere. “He’s not available for trade,” Sullivan told reporters. “Things are going good — we’ve had some positive conversations over the past couple days, trending in the right direction. He’s obviously very important to what we’re doing … We’ll get to where we need to be, one way or another.” Achane, 24, had solid 2023 and ’24 seasons — 1,707 combined rushing yards and 23 total touchdowns — before really breaking out this past season with 1,350 rushing yards on an NFL-best 5.7 yards per attempt. He scored eight times on the ground and four more times through the air in what was his best season production-wise as a pro. The deal comes just days after the Jets made a similar move in extending running back Breece Hall on a three-year, $45.75 million contract with $29 million guaranteed. Miami is looking for better days after a 7-10 finish last season that saw head coach Mike McDaniel get fired and both quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and polarizing wideout Tyreek Hill cut . The Dolphins hired former Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and signed former Green Bay QB Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract, in all likelihood to become the next starter under center
Sponsored by Fanduel The 2026 NFL schedule is set to be released Thursday night and while the schedule leaks have already begun , the Texans are slated to face one of the easiest schedules in the league next season. Last season the Texans were awarded four primetime games, two Monday Night Football, one Sunday Night Football, and a Thursday Night Football matchup. The Texans were then given a Saturday day game against the LA Chargers Last year’s Primetime games: Week 2: MNF (vs Buccaneers ) – Loss Week 7: MNF (at Seattle ) – Loss Week 12: TNF (vs Bills) – Win Week 14: SNF (at Kansas City ) – Win Week 17: Saturday (at LAC) – Win With Houston ’s vaunted defense finally receiving the national attention it deserves this offseason, fans will be eager to watch the Texans swarm opposing offenses all year long. To project how many primetime games Houston could receive, it helps to look at last season’s schedule for context. The Kansas City Chiefs led the league with eight primetime appearances, including an international matchup. The league average sat at 3.5 primetime games per team, though the Saints , Browns , and Titans received none. Meanwhile, 10 teams appeared in at least five primetime contests, with the Cowboys ranking second behind Kansas City with six appearances. We already know the Texans will travel overseas to face the Jacksonville Jaguars . While that game will not count as a primetime matchup, it will still serve as a marquee showdown between the AFC South’s two playoff representatives from the 2025 season. I predict the Texans will have five primetime matchups in 2026, featuring multiple NFC East and AFC North opponents. Houston Texans vs. Dallas Cowboys – Monday Night Football Houston Texans at Philadelphia Eagles – Sunday Night Football Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers – Thursday Night Football Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens – Sunday Night Football Houston Texans at Green Bay Packers – Monday Night Football Indianapolis Colts Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Baltimore Ravens Cincinnati Bengals Buffalo Bills Dallas Cowboys New York Giants Indianapolis Colts Tennessee Titans Jacksonville Jaguars Cleveland Browns Pittsburgh Steelers LA Chargers Philadelphia Eagles Washington Commanders Green Bay Packers As for predicting the full slate of games, Week 18 is solely reserved for AFC South rivals. The Houston Texans have either played the Colts or the Titans the last week of the season since 2019, with the Jags being the opponent in 2018. Considering Jacksonville and Houston were the two AFC South representatives in the playoffs, I predict the NFL schedule creators will pit the two team against each other to end the season. The Texans will play eight games against playoff teams, including two against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The schedule is fairly manageable because the Texans came in second in the AFC South, which means they face the second-ranked AFC teams from last year along with the Green Bay Packers as their 17th game
Fit often matters as much as talent to success in the NFL . That's especially true for rookies, as it's the shortest offseason they'll ever have at any level of football to get up to speed. Landing in a spot that gives them a clear path to the field and plays to their strengths is a big factor in their immediate impact. The All-Rookie team isn't a formal award like All-Pros or Pro Bowlers. The PFWA has done its own since 1974, but its positional designations are incredibly dated, with two running backs and three linebackers included. Let's use modern positional designations and predict who will have the most productive seasons among this year's rookie class based on their talent, NFL readiness and opportunity to produce. This is the easiest one on the entire list. Fernando Mendoza could easily be the only rookie quarterback who starts this season. The 13th overall pick, Ty Simpson, will only play for the Rams if Matthew Stafford goes down, and third-rounders Carson Beck and Drew Allar were third-rounders for a reason. If Mendoza doesn't start Week 1, he should by Week 5 at the latest, and he'll have one of the best play-callers in the NFL in Klint Kubiak. It's either Jeremiyah Love or his former Notre Dame teammate Jadarian Price here. Anyone else would be a long shot in a historically weak running back class with only one other top-100 pick (Kaelon Black), and he backs up Christian McCaffrey. Love lands with coach Mike LaFleur, who, as offensive coordinator for the Jets , had Breece Hall averaging 5.8 yards per carry as a rookie before tearing his ACL midseason. Carnell Tate is an obvious selection. He walks into a spot where he's the unquestioned No. 1 receiver option for Cam Ward, filling the role the Titans missed dearly last year. KC Concepcion is a little less obvious, as he doesn't exactly have a high-volume passing offense to put up big numbers. What he does have, however, is a clear-cut path to targets and an NFL-ready game. Concepcion finished as the No. 1 wide receiver on my draft board because of his ability to separate against man coverage, which should translate immediately in the NFL. Antonio Williams is one of the most experienced slot receivers in the draft class, with nearly 1,000 routes run from that spot in his collegiate career. He'll fit seamlessly into the Commanders ' offense, which lost leading receiver Deebo Samuel, who operated primarily from the slot. Williams has an obvious path to a hefty target load with Jayden Daniels hopefully healthy all season. There wasn't a clean landing spot for any of the top tight ends this year. None of the nine taken in the top 100 went to a team where they'll be the unquestioned No. 1 at the position. Kenyon Sadiq , at minimum, will garner schemed targets because of his ability after the catch. He should easily usurp last year's second-rounder, Mason Taylor, for targets in the Jets' offense. Spencer Fano had the cleanest tape of any offensive lineman in the draft and will be the clear-cut starter at left tackle for the Browns next season. Blake Miller is the only other tackle in the draft with no roadblocks to a starting role, so he's the choice here by default. Monroe Freeling, Max Iheanachor and Caleb Lomu all look destined to take redshirt years with the Panthers , Steelers and Patriots, respectively. There were three top-15 picks who will start at guard as rookies, meaning Francis Mauigoa is the odd man out here. I believe Olaivavega Ioane's experience at guard will make his transition easier, while Kadyn Proctor's biggest weakness -- his foot speed -- gets mitigated by moving inside. While Keylan Rutledge technically never played center in 3,019 career snaps in college, this looks like his most likely position based on the contracts Houston gave out this offseason. As the second-ranked true interior offensive lineman on my board, Rutledge playing a new position shouldn't worry Texans fans much. The common thread here is their work in the run game, wh

Jets running back Breece Hall’s first four seasons set him up for the contract extension he signed this month, but he doesn’t think that he’s shown all he can offer in the NFL. The Jets have gone 22-46 and gone through coaching and General Manager changes since Hall was selected in the second round of the 2022 draft and they’ve also cycled through a number of quarterbacks who have fallen short of the level of play needed to succeed in the NFL. Hall referenced those facts during a Tuesday press conference while saying that he feels confident in the direction that head coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey have put the team on as they head into the 2026 season. “I’m the only running back that’s consistently a top-10 back in the league that hasn’t in the past always been in the most ideal situations,” Hall said, via SNY. “I feel like now AG and Moug, they’ve really put me in position with all the guys we’ve brought in with all the guys we’ve brought in and the team we’re building around us to really flourish. God willing, we stay healthy and everything goes as planned, I feel like this could be my best season, for sure.” Offseason optimism is nothing new for the Jets, but staying healthy and everything going has planned have been harder to come by over the last 15 years. If that can change this fall, Hall won’t be the only one believing in what Glenn and Mougey are cooking up
Jets running back Breece Hall has signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract extension, worth an average of $14.5 million per year, which ranks fourth in the NFL among running backs. This deal guarantees him $29 million and ensures he remains with the team for their long-term future, despite previous trade talks mentioning his name
Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love secured the largest full guarantee of any RB in NFL history, but the deal is attributed to his status as the third overall draft pick rather than his position. This contract structure is standard for high draft picks, regardless of position, and its terms will not influence future running back market negotiations. His next contract will be more indicative of the running back market
Breece Hall has signed a three-year, $45.75 million contract with the Jets, securing his long-term future with the team after being franchise tagged. The deal includes $29 million guaranteed and makes him one of the highest-paid running backs in the league
Breece Hall has signed a three-year, $45.75 million extension with the New York Jets, securing his long-term future with the team. While the potential for improved offense and quarterback play could elevate his fantasy value, these are speculative factors for now
