Jalen Coker is a prime buy-low dynasty target due to his potential for a breakout year
You have to admire the perseverance, if nothing else. Brooks was a second-round pick in the 2024 draft, and the first running back off the board, despite seeing his college career end at Texas due to a torn ACL in his right knee. Rather than giving him a redshirt season, Carolina saw enough in his rehab to let him make him NFL debut in Week 12 of his rookie season. Two weeks and nine carries later, he re-tore his right ACL, an injury that wound up costing him the entire 2025 campaign. Prior to the initial knee injury, Brooks was drawing Jamaal Charles comparisons due to his elite burst and elusiveness with strong pass-catching skills, but even when healthy he never handled a heavy workload in college, so he's almost completely unproven in a feature role. The Panthers still have Chuba Hubbard around to handle the No. 1 job in the backfield, so if Brooks proves he's healthy and can stay that way, he could be eased into a complementary role. Hubbard lost the starting job to Rico Dowdle in 2025, though, and the door will be open for Brooks to do the same. First, though, he's got to show he can stay on the field and still has the ability to hit for big plays after his multiple knee surgeries
Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks is persevering through two torn ACLs in his knee and could have a path to being the Panthers' No. 2 back in 2026 behind Chuba Hubbard, making him an intriguing player to consider targeting in dynasty formats this offseason. The 22-year-old former second-round pick (46th overall) in 2024 out of the University of Texas -- he was the first RB taken that year -- has been fully cleared for the offseason program after missing the entire 2025 campaign in Carolina. Brooks only played in three games in his rookie campaign before re-tearing his right ACL, which at the time was considered potentially career-threatening. Before his knee issues, there was a lot to like about Brooks because of his elite burst, elusiveness, and strong pass-catching skills out of the backfield. It's unlikely that Brooks will ever be a featured back in the NFL, especially after his knee injuries, but if he can stay healthy going forward, there's plenty of reason to believe that he can win the No. 2 job in Carolina over the likes of AJ Dillon and Trevor Etienne now that Rico Dowdle is gone. Brooks should be considered a riser in dynasty/keeper formats, and he's currently ranked as RotoBaller's No. 36 back in those formats
Chuba Hubbard's stock is rising following Carolina's offseason moves
Brooks (knee) said Tuesday that he's been fully cleared to participate in the Panthers' offseason program, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Brooks said he feels "close to 100 percent" after tearing his right ACL for the second time in Week 14 of the 2024 campaign. Brooks missed the entirety of the 2025 campaign but appears ready to contribute this season. The offseason has set up nicely for Brooks after Rico Dowdle left in free agency, leaving Brooks as the clear favorite to open the season as the RB2 behind Chuba Hubbard. AJ Dillon was signed to a minimum-level deal but has barely played over the last two seasons, and Trevor Etienne is a satellite back who mainly played special teams as a 2025 rookie
