Etienne posted six carries for eight yards and reeled in all two targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 43-13 defeat to the Buccaneers. Etienne made his second appearance of the 2026 campaign after missing the first four games due to an ankle injury. Although he was slightly more productive than he was in the Week 6 win over the Eagles, it was still an underwhelming showing overall. Etienne should continue to occupy the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. However, Chuba Hubbard is anticipated to nearly monopolize the touches out of the backfield moving forward, so it doesn't really matter who is behind him

Trevor Etienne to make his 2026 debut for the Panthers
Panthers offensive tackle Taylor Moton is set to make his 2026 debut. Moton returned to practice this week after missing all of training camp and the first weeks of the regular season while recovering from blood clots in his lung. The Panthers announced that he has been activated from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday. Moton could be back at his familiar right tackle spot against the Eagles. First-round pick Monroe Freeling has been manning the spot, but he is doubtful to play due to a knee injury. The Panthers also activated defensive lineman Turk Wharton and running back Trevor Etienne from injured reserve. They elevated running back Anthony Tyus and cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad to round out the day’s moves
The Panthers activated Etienne (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday. Etienne remains listed as questionable for Sunday's date with the Eagles, but he appears to be positioned to make his 2026 debut after missing the first four games of the season ahead of Carolina's Week 5 bye. With AJ Dillon (ankle) ruled out and Jonathon Brooks (abdomen) on injured reserve, Etienne would provide needed backfield depth behind Chuba Hubbard

Trevor Etienne (ankle) practiced in a full capacity again on Thursday. Etienne still hasn't been officially activated for the Panthers, but he seems to be trending the right way for Week 6, as he has been a full participant at both practices to start the week. Carolina may need him more than usual with AJ Dillon (ankle) at risk of being sidelined as well
Bryce Young practices fully despite knee injury, while Monroe Freeling and AJ Dillon sit out
Trevor Etienne (ankle) was officially a full participant at practice on Wednesday. The young running back recently had his 21-day practice window opened and was able to log a full practice session on Wednesday. It looks like he will be back in the lineup very soon, which is timely for the Panthers with AJ Dillon (ankle) now dealing with an injury
Adds: Trevor Etienne. Drops: Treylon Burks
Running back Trevor Etienne is on his way back to the Panthers lineup. The team announced that Etienne has been designated to return from injured reserve. Etienne hurt his ankle in August and became eligible to return to action after Carolina beat the Lions in Week 4, but his 2026 debut had to wait for the team to return from their bye week. Etienne was a 2025 fourth-round pick and he served as a returner in addition to seeing limited action on offense during his rookie season. Chuba Hubbard and AJ Dillon are the current running backs on the team’s 53-man roster. The Panthers also announced that they have placed defensive tackle Cam Jackson on injured reserve. Jackson has a shoulder injury. The Jackson move leaves the Panthers with three open slots on their active roster. They’ve also designated offensive tackle Taylor Moton and defensive lineman Turk Wharton for return this week, so all three could be back for their Week 6 game against the Eagles
