Jeremy Ruckert will play in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, despite a thumb issue
by Leo Sells | Jets Correspondent | Thu, Oct 1st 2026, 4:28pm EDT Jeremy Ruckert (knee) was listed as a limited participant at practice on Thursday. ( Rich Cimini on Twitter ) Fantasy Impact: The veteran tight end was limited for a second-straight practice on Thursday as he continues to recover from a knee injury. If he's healthy for Week 4, he could be in line for more work than usual with Kenyon Sadiq (back) and Mason Taylor (thumb) both currently dealing with injuries for the Jets. Jets injury report: Kingsley Enagbare’s game status now appears uncertain, as he didn’t practice today. Minkah Fitzpatrick confirmed that he’s playing. #Jets pic.twitter.com/xagsrzQITI Category: Injury Updates | More Jeremy Ruckert : News , Rankings , Projections , Stats Add FantasyPros on Google

Minkah Fitzpatrick has a good chance of returning to the Jets lineup this week
Ruckert (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice. Ruckert may have picked up the injury during the Lions' 31-24 loss to the Lions in Week 3, when he hauled in all five of his targets for 39 yards and a touchdown, which was the second score of his five-year NFL career. Ruckert, Mason Taylor (thumb) and Kenyon Sadiq (back) are all dealing with injuries, leaving Jelani Woods and Andrew Beck as the only healthy tight ends to begin Week 4 prep. Ruckert will have two more opportunities to log a full practice and avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears

Geno Smith and Kenyon Sadiq lead the Jets to a 7-3 lead over the Lions
Ruckert scores a touchdown in a close loss, solidifying his role as Detroit’s second tight end
New York Jets tight end Kenyon Sadiq caught two of three targets for 17 yards against Green Bay after recording three receptions for 21 yards and a rushing touchdown in his NFL debut. His Week 3 opportunity is more interesting now that Mason Taylor has officially been ruled out with a thumb injury. Taylor did not practice at all this week, leaving Sadiq and Jeremy Ruckert to handle the available tight-end work. Detroit gave up seven catches for 95 yards and a touchdown to Dalton Kincaid last Thursday, although Sadiq has not shown anything close to that kind of receiving role yet. RotoBaller ranks him as the TE32 for Week 3. He remains a risky play in normal leagues, but Taylor's absence gives Sadiq his clearest path yet to additional routes and targets
The Jets placed three players on injured reserve Tuesday and they may be missing another member of their offense for their Week 3 game in Detroit. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that tight end Mason Taylor is considered week-to-week due to a thumb injury. The Jets will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday. Taylor started each of the Jets’ first two games. He did not catch a pass in Sunday’s loss to the Packers and his two catches in Week 1’s win over the Titans resulted in a loss of two yards. First-round pick Kenyon Sadiq, Jeremy Ruckert, and Jelani Woods are the other tight ends on their 53-man roster
Jeremy Ruckert's limited involvement in the Jets' passing attack continues
Kenyon Sadiq found a fun way to score his first NFL touchdown, taking an end-around three yards into the end zone on the Jets' opening drive. He also caught all three of his targets for 21 yards. The bigger issue is how crowded the position remains. New York used plenty of heavy tight-end personnel against Tennessee, and Sadiq was sharing the field and opportunities with Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods. That can keep him involved without necessarily turning into a useful weekly target total. Green Bay allowed T.J. Hockenson to score last week, but Sadiq is still only TE35 in RotoBaller's Week 2 rankings. The touchdown was encouraging. Three targets are not enough yet to make him a standard-league starter
Ruckert played 29 offensive snaps, catching his sole target for four yards in Sunday's 23-10 win over the Titans. Ruckert played 43 percent of the offensive snaps for the Jets, showing the team's inclination towards 13-personnel. Despite being the No. 3 tight end, Ruckert seems to be regularly involved in the offense as both a blocker and route runner
Jets rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq scored his first career touchdown in Week 1 despite a limited snap count. While he played behind Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert, Sadiq's potential and versatility make him a priority waiver-wire target for the season
Jets first-round pick Kenyon Sadiq is not practicing on Tuesday for the third straight day and head coach Aaron Glenn said in his press conference that the rookie tight end will miss more time. Glenn said, per multiple reporters, that Sadiq will be out “a little bit” after suffering a setback in his recovery from hernia surgery. Sadiq, who was the 16th overall pick in April, had the procedure in May. Glenn added that he is “very confident” that Sadiq will be available for the team’s Week 1 road date with the Titans. 2025 second-round pick Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods, and Chase Curtis remain available at tight end for the Jets

Jelani Woods enters his second year with the Jets, aiming to secure a depth role at tight end after a quiet 2025 season where he had minimal involvement. Facing competition from Kenyon Sadiq, Mason Taylor, and Jeremy Ruckert, Woods' path to playing time is unclear, but he hopes to recapture his rookie form and provide reliable depth for the team
Through the spring and summer, we will be counting down the Jets roster player by player. We continue the series by discussing Chase Curtis. Name: Chase Curtis Number: 87 Year With Jets: 1st Projected Role: Tight end practice squad contender His 2025: Curtis’ final season at TCU saw him register 13 catches for 167 yards, and 2 touchdowns. The Jets signed him as a free agent after he went unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft. 2026 will be a success if: Curtis shows enough potential in training camp and the exhibition games to earn a practice squad slot. He is the longest of long shots to make the 53 man roster. He has a lot of development to do as a wide receiver. It would be tough to count on him to do much blocking. At a listed weight of 235 pounds, he would be one of the smallest tight ends in the league. There also aren’t many open roster spots at the position. Kenyon Sadiq , Mason Taylor , and Jeremy Ruckert are locks to be on the roster. There is no guarantee the Jets will keep a fourth. If they do, veteran Jelani Woods likely has the inside track. Curtis would do well by merely snagging a practice squad spot and giving himself a chance to continue developing. Odds of making the roster: Longshot (<25%)
