Goodson turned 10 carries into 38 yards and returned two kickoffs for 42 yards during the Cowboys' 38-21 win over the Eagles on Monday. The Cowboys relied heavily on the run game Monday, and Goodson saw a season-high 10 rushes as a result, although that was still well behind the workload of lead back Javonte Williams, who turned 25 carries into a career-high 155 yards and a score. Goodson nearly found the end zone himself after returning a 91-yard kickoff to the house in the second quarter, only for the touchdown to be nullified by a holding penalty on Dallas. He's limited to RB2 duties for the time being but would step into an elevated role if Williams were to ever miss time. The Cowboys will head back home for Week 8 against the Cardinals, whose defense ranks 23rd in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game (126.4)
Given the number of factors that go into determining winners and losers in NFL games, it’s hard to pin the Cowboys’ back-to-back losses solely on running back Javonte Williams carrying the ball 23 times in Weeks 5 and 6. Offensive balance is always a good thing, though, and it wasn’t hard to notice a difference in how the Cowboys were attacking the Eagles on Monday night. Williams kept getting the ball and it didn’t feel like a coincidence that they fed an effort that resulted in a convincing 38-21 road win. Williams ran 25 times for a career-high 155 yards and sealed the win with a fourth quarter touchdown. The Cowboys also gave the ball to Tyler Goodson 11 times while Dak Prescott was connecting with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens for three touchdowns through the air. “It was good to give [head coach Brian Schottenheimer] the confidence to keep calling the runs,” Williams said, via the team’s website. “He made a big emphasis on that this week — to get at least 25 rushes in a game. . . . We were just trying to get back to a balanced offense, and I feel like we did a great job tonight. We’ve got a high-powered offense, and when you’ve got G.P., CeeDee, Jake Ferguson, those guys on the outside, I mean, it’s going to open up the running.” The Cowboys only managed 29 points in their losses to the Packers and Buccaneers in the previous two games and that’s not a recipe for success for a team that’s built around an ability to score points in bunches. Monday night was more like it and the Cowboys will be trying to stay in the groove they found in Philadelphia

Tyler Goodson is the clear RB2 in Dallas as the handcuff for Javonte Williams. He has limited stats this year but has a clearer path to relevance in Dallas than his previous stops. However, without an injury to Williams, Goodson has minimal standalone value and would likely share work with Emari Demercado if Williams were to miss time
Tyler Goodson gained zero yards on two carries while catching his lone target for a nine-yard gain in a 23-13 loss to the Packers in Week 6. Goodson was quiet while mixing in behind starter Javonte Williams in the loss. The veteran running back should continue to be treated as nothing more than a handcuff in fantasy moving forward
