Seahawks place Zach Charbonnet on PUP list

Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in the divisional round of the playoffs and the team confirmed that he’s not ready to resume practicing on Wednesday. Charbonnet has been placed on the physically unable to perform list ahead of the start of training camp. Charbonnet can be activated from the list at any point in camp, but the timing of the injury means that it will likely be some time before the team will be moving him to the active roster. The Seahawks previously placed safety Nick Emmanwori, running back Kenny McIntosh, cornerback Tyrone Broden, and defensive tackle Deven Eastern on the PUP list. Charbonnet ran 184 times for 730 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. First-round pick Jadarian Price, George Holani, Emanuel Wilson, Velus Jones, and Jacardia Wright are the healthy options at running back in Seattle

Seahawks 2026 training camp preview: 3 roster bubble players to watch

We’re just over a week away from the start of Seattle Seahawks training camp. The reigning Super Bowl champions have one of those good problems: a lot of talent but only so many roster spots available. It’s very much like when they won their first Super Bowl 12 years ago, which means camp competitions will be plentiful and fierce. As part of our training camp preview, we’re taking a look at a handful of players who are on that bubble to make the 53-man roster. As a third-round pick, Haynes was brought in as competition for Anthony Bradford at right guard. After some split time between Bradford and Haynes during the season, by the end of the season he found himself behind Sataoa Laumea on the depth chart. Laumea is currently out of the NFL after he was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers in May. Given the disastrous experience that was Ryan Grubb and Scott Huff, Haynes (and the rest of the OL) got a reboot under John Benton, a highly respected and experienced coach at this level. While the unit as a whole showed vast improvement from previous seasons, Haynes started training camp doing snaps at center and sitting out some practices with a minor pec injury. Any thought that he could usurp Bradford was squashed in an instant. About a third of his 32 regular season snaps came at center in garbage time against the Minnesota Vikings , while the other two were at either guard position. Beau Stephens may not be challenging Bradford or even serve as his heir apparent if he leaves in free agency, but the fact that the Seahawks traded back into the fifth round to get him suggests that Haynes is the one whose future is in serious jeopardy. With Zach Charbonnet highly unlikely to be ready for Week 1 and Kenneth Walker off the team, the running back position is going to be different for the Seahawks this year. Jadarian Price is the marquee name after his first round selection , but he’s not going to be a 20+ carry a game guy (at least not right from the jump). George Holani figures to be at least a part of the rotation, while Emanuel Wilson is the unspectacular but steady free agent signing. McIntosh has an uphill battle, both for the names ahead of him and also his health. Having beaten out Holani for RB3 back in 2024, McIntosh never got the chance to stake his claim for a roster spot last year after tearing his ACL. The former Georgia star has twice suffered serious knee injuries over three seasons, which is a shame considering the promise he’s shown in limited touches. At the very least, McIntosh as a receiving back would’ve been intriguing, and his running style looks to be ideal for predominantly a zone blocking scheme. It’s pretty much now or never for McIntosh, especially at a position that is historically known for major churn and moving on from players across the league. The only major loss at cornerback is Riq Woolen , otherwise everyone else from last year’s regular season roster is both healthy and available. Replacing Riq still won’t be an easy task, hence the Seahawks invested at corner early-ish in the draft through Arkansas’ Julian Neal, along with late-round flyers on Andre Fuller and Michael Dansby. They also signed former first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene in free agency for added competition. Perhaps one of the forgotten names on the cornerback depth chart is Nehemiah Pritchett, whom like Haynes is entering his third year in the league. Pritchett had the bulk of his rookie playing time against the Atlanta Falcons and the Week 18 Los Angeles Rams game. The Rams performance in particular was a bit of a struggle. With the secondary healthier and more solidified in 2025, Pritchett’s snaps reduced from 151 to 91. If nothing else, his 4th down touchdown PBU on Marvin Harrison Jr was probably the most encouraging rep he’s had to date. In past interviews, Mike Macdonald has sounded bullish on Pritchett’s potential, but obviously that’s not an indicator of future starter. The Seattle Seahawks are fresh off a Super Bowl victory but go into the 2026 season with plenty of question marks surrounding the offense, particularly the run game. Former offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is now the head coach in Las Vegas. Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. So the running back room will look plenty different in 2026. So with Charb coming off major knee surgery, the Seahawks selected RB Jadarian Price in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. So with Charbonnet out to start 2026 and Seattle investing high draft capital in Price, does that mean he'll be the lead back to start the season? Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski dove into the topic on the latest episode of the Yahoo Fantasy Forecas t . As Harmon points out, ESPN's Brady Henderson believes that Price will compete with Emanuel Wilson and George Holani for touches in the backfield early in the season while Charbonnet is out. If that's the case, can you trust Price with where he’s currently going in drafts? Well, the early ADP has Price in the 60-70 pick range, around a fifth- or sixth-rounder. Harmon needs Price in the 70 range when accounting for the risk involved in taking him. It's just speculation at this point, but Harmon agrees with the report to an extent. The Seahawks wanted to trade out of that pick late in the first round. Price was also taken in a spot of the draft that was viewed as a "trap area" by many. Pianowski thinks Harmon's concerns are warranted and also believes Price will be a topic of discussion after he has "6-7 carries" one week during the season. And there are plenty of question marks with Wilson, Holani and Charbonnet all in the mix along with Price. Pianowski also doesn't think the first-round capital should be weighted as heavily as would typically be the case. The rookie currently sits 68th overall in the Yahoo consensus rankings

Seahawks OTAs news: Anthony Bradford leaves practice early with minor injury

The Seattle Seahawks are in the middle of voluntary organized team activities (OTAs), and ESPN’s Brady Henderson was among the credentialed media allowed to observe Wednesday’s practice. The only notable injury to come out of the session was to starting right guard Anthony Bradford, who apparently dinged his knee and did not return. Better safe than sorry in the offseason, particularly when this is the non-contact portion of the workout program. Probably the only eyebrow raising thing to come out of Bradford’s injury was Christian Haynes taking his reps, if only because Haynes has struggled to even attain second-string status during his brief NFL career. Then again, fifth-round rookie Beau Stephens has been a Seahawks player for all of a few weeks, so the thought of thrusting him into first-team reps right away was always ambitious. Another noteworthy thing is first-team reps for running back George Holani , who will almost certainly be sharing time in the backfield with Jadarian Price and Emanuel Wilson , as Zach Charbonnet recovers from his ACL surgery. And lastly, Devon Witherspoon has been at OTAs but participating in drills is a different story. The Seahawks are working on a contract extension for their superstar cornerback. An undrafted free agent out of Boise State in 2024, Holani carved out a spot on special teams to begin the 2025 campaign while seeing occasional work on offense before a hamstring injury ended his regular season Week 11, although he was able to return for Seattle's sprint to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks remade their backfield in the offseason, but the new look doesn't do any favors. While Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker is now in Kansas City, he got replaced by first-round pick Jadarian Price and free-agent signing Emanuel Wilson, and Zach Charbonnet will still have a significant role once he's recovered from his ACL surgery. Holani's profile as a power back with solid size and a 4.52 40-yard time could allow him to compete with Wilson for a short-yardage role while Charbonnet is sidelined, however
