Jaguars sign Nick Mullens and Joey Aguilar to practice squad, cut three quarterbacks
The Jaguars have announced their moves to reduce their roster to 53 players. Jacksonville waived linebacker Yasir Abdullah, quarterback Joey Aguilar, defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote, defensive lineman T.J. Bollers, wide receiver Brady Boyd, receiver Chandler Brayboy, linebacker Amari Burney, offensive lineman Jerome Carvin, defensive end Quindarius Dunnigan, tight end Patrick Herbert, cornerback Preston Hodge, defensive tackle Jalen Hunt, Kiser, offensive lineman Ricky Lee, linebacker Jalen McLeod, offensive lineman Timothy McKay, cornerback Jabbar Muhammed, safety Devin Neal Jr., offensive lineman Jimto Obidegwu, receiver Trebor Peña, safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, running back J’Mari Taylor, safety Trevian Thomas, receiver Michael Wortham, and offensive lineman Kilian Zierer. The club waived quarterback Carter Bradley and defensive tackle Kelvie Rose with an injury designation. The Jags released cornerback Corey Ballentine, offensive lineman Geron Christian Jr., running back DeeJay Dallas, offensive lineman Chuma Edoga, receiver Tim Jones, quarterback Nick Mullens, offensive lineman Sam Mustipher, linebacker Baylon Spector, and receiver Austin Trammell. Offensive lineman Patrick Mekari and defensive end Zach Durfee were both placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. The team also traded tight end Hunter Long to the Cardinals. Jacksonville also sent a 2028 seventh-round pick to Arizona in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick
Jacksonville Jaguars undrafted rookie running back J'Mari Taylor was a main contributor in a 24-20 win over the New Orleans Saints in the preseason opener on Saturday. He finished with 22 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown, which ended up as the game-winning score for the Jaguars. He also ran in a two-point conversion. Taylor has lots of competition in the running back room, so it's doubtful he is worth consideration in redraft anytime soon, but this promising performance should draw the eyes of dynasty managers. Veteran DeeJay Dallas was also involved in the rushing attack but had a much less efficient 2.6 yards per carry on 10 carries. The clear top three running backs of Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr., and LeQuint Allen Jr. surely will make the roster, but as of now, it seems Taylor is the favorite if Liam Coen decides to keep four backs on the roster. He is worth taxi consideration in dynasty leagues for now
Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said last month that the team is expecting running back Bhayshul Tuten to have a big year for them, but Tuten has not nailed down the top spot on the depth chart. The team released its first depth chart of the year and it shows Tuten or Chris Rodriguez listed in the No. 1 spot in the backfield. Tuten is in his second year with the Jaguars while Rodriguez signed with the team as a free agent this offseason. Le’Quint Allen, Ameer Abdullah, DeeJay Dallas, and J’Mari Taylor make up the rest of the running back group. The Jaguars have one other position with a pair of players listed at the top. Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs are joined at one of the team’s linebacker spots
Jacksonville Jaguars running back J'Mari Taylor is an interesting late-round target for dynasty managers. Taylor was brought in as an undrafted free agent following this year's draft. He's looking at an uphill battle this summer, but the Jaguars don't have a ton of consistent contributors ahead of him. Taylor could very well earn himself a role on this roster if he's able to impress the organization during training camp and the preseason. This past season, Taylor rushed for 1,062 yards with 14 touchdowns across 13 games with Virginia. He could be worth snagging in the final round of dynasty drafts or stashing on the taxi squad

Jaguars running back J'Mari Taylor went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft before signing on with Jacksonville as a priority free agent. An older and undersized prospect, he's a long shot to even stick with the team out of training camp, much less contribute for fantasy. That said, if Taylor can earn a roster spot or find a job on the practice squad, his well-rounded skill set could allow him to provide injury insurance for multiple backs currently on the roster. Despite his size, he is a willing and able tackle-breaker, and he reliably earned targets in the passing game at both Virginia and North Carolina Central. While he is unlikely to be selected in most dynasty rookie drafts, Taylor is a prime post-draft waiver pickup and taxi squad candidate in deeper dynasty leagues
