The 49ers made their two Wednesday signings official, which also means they had to make a pair of corresponding roster moves. In announcing the club had officially added receiver KhaDarel Hodge and defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to one-year deals, the club also noted veteran defensive linemen Kevin Givens and Cameron Sample have been released. Givens, 29, has been with the 49ers since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He’s appeared in 70 career games for the franchise, tallying 8.0 sacks with 18 tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits. He played five games last year, registering two total tackles. Sample joined the 49ers in April on a one-year deal after spending his first five seasons with the Bengals. In 2025, he tallied 17 total tackles with 2.0 sacks, two TFLs, and six QB hits in 14 games with two starts. San Francisco’s first preseason game will take place next Thursday against Tennessee in Santa Clara

The 49ers are adding another veteran player on Wednesday. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, San Francisco has agreed to sign wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge. Hodge, 31, spent the past four seasons with the Falcons — two of which were under now-49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris. Hodge has recorded 67 career catches for 1,026 yards with two touchdowns. Last season with Atlanta, he caught three passes for 31 yards in 12 games. Most of his playing time came on special teams. Hodge has also played for the Rams, Browns, and Lions since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018. The 49ers have had a string of injuries at receiver early in camp, including losing Ricky Pearsall for the season with a knee issue

Bills sign WR Dante Pettis

The Bills worked out veteran wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, Dante Pettis and Isaiah Whitehead. Shortly thereafter, the team announced it has signed Pettis to a one-year deal. In a corresponding move, wide receiver Jalen Virgil was waived with a non-football injury. Pettis, 30, has eight years of NFL experience with four different teams, most recently playing for the Saints the past two seasons. In 2025, Pettis played eight games, seeing action on 114 offensive snaps and 53 on special teams. He totaled nine catches for 127 yards and averaged 23.4 yards on 15 kickoff returns and 6.1 yards on 13 punt returns. In his career, Pettis has 92 receptions for 1,231 yards and 13 touchdowns across 66 games. Pettis entered the league as a second-round pick of the 49ers in 2018
