Bucs practice updates: Irving, Egbuka, and several others return or miss practice amid injuries and protocol concerns
Sills (hamstring) was activated from injured reserve by the Buccaneers on Thursday, Scott Smith of the team's official website reports. Sills had his 21-day practice window opened by the team Oct. 12, and he was able to open this week with back-to-back full practices. The wide receiver has been on IR since late August while recovering from a hamstring injury, but he will now slot in as a depth option behind Emeka Egbuka (concussion) and Chris Godwin moving forward this season
Baker Mayfield returns to practice as a full participant after missing three games due to a dislocated right thumb
The Buccaneers made a late addition to their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Steelers. Linebacker Josiah Trotter is considered questionable to play after being limited in practice by a knee injury. Trotter also missed Week 3 with a knee injury. Trotter was a second-round pick this year and has started three of the four games he’s played. He has 40 tackles, a sack and an interception return for a touchdown. Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson confirmed on Thursday that quarterback Baker Mayfield will miss his third straight game with a dislocated right thumb. The Bucs also ruled out safety Antoine Winfield (rib) and wide receiver David Sills (hamstring). Cornerback Benjamin Morrison (quad) is listed as doubtful while linebacker SirVocea Dennis (ankle, foot), cornerback Ayden Garnes (ankle), and running back Sean Tucker (quad) join Trotter with questionable tags

Sills (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Buccaneers on Sunday with a designation to return, Scott Smith of the team's official website reports. Sills appears to have picked up an undisclosed injury at some point during the preseason. The wide receiver played in one of the team's preseason contests, reeling in one of two targets for a loss of one yard. Sills will now be forced to miss at least four contests while on IR, and the earliest he can return to action is Week 5 against the Cowboys on Oct. 8

Looking over the Browns’ wide receivers for training camp
Sills enjoyed a career year while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games with the Falcons in 2025, catching 18 of 36 targets for 191 yards and two touchdowns. His 563 offensive snaps in Atlanta surpassed the total (367) from the rest of his NFL career combined. Now heading into his age-30 season, Sills faces an uphill battle for a depth role in Tampa Bay's crowded wide receiver room. If he manages to secure a spot on the 53-man roster, he'll likely be limited to reserve reps unless injuries ahead of him create opportunities

The 6-foot-3, 211-pound wideout will now work to secure a role on Tampa Bay's crowded wide receiver depth chart
