The Miami Dolphins selected offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, thwarting a potential trade-up by the Detroit Lions with the Baltimore Ravens. Additionally, the Dolphins are finalizing a contract extension for running back De'Von Achane, though he was not participating in OTAs
Falcons quarterback Michael Penix isn’t a full participant in the team’s OTA practices this week, but his recovery from a torn ACL has gone well enough for him to take part in 7-on-7 work at this point in the offseason. Penix said on Tuesday that he “feels like himself” on the field and that his goal has “always been” to be ready for the team’s season opener in September. Once Penix is cleared for full football activities, Penix will have to beat out Tua Tagovailoa to start against the Steelers in Pittsburgh. That competition has miles to go and Penix said his focus will be on his road rather than on anything Tagovailoa is doing. “I’m running my own race ,” Penix said, via the team’s website. “I can’t look into another lane. But at the same time, we are working together. That’s what its all about. Working together and working with each other to finish the race.” It will be hard to get a clear read on where things stand in the Falcons’ competition until Penix is back to full speed and the decision will be the first major one that Kevin Stefanski makes as the head coach in Atlanta

Heading into a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons , the former fifth overall pick will have a leg up on Michael Penix Jr. in training camp, as Penix continues to recover from the partially torn ACL he suffered a year ago. Tua spent three consecutive years from 2022–2024 leading the league in either passer rating, passing yards, or completion percentage, and landing in an offense featuring Bijan Robinson , Drake London , and Kyle Pitts could give the Falcons quarterback production similar to his best days under Mike McDaniel. Tagovailoa will also escape the cold conditions of the AFC East, no longer having to play in Buffalo or Foxborough, instead spending half his time indoors at home in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, along with favorable environments in New Orleans and Tampa Bay. The Falcons moved into the OTA phase of their offseason workouts this week and that allows them to start doing 11-on-11 work during practice sessions. Such work will be a significant part of their quarterback decision heading into the fall, but Michael Penix is not quite ready for that step yet. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said at a Tuesday press conference that Penix remains limited to individual and 7-on-7 work as he continues to recover from a torn ACL. Stefanski also looked ahead to how the competition with Tua Tagovailoa will unfold once Penix is ready to do everything on the practice field. "Very intentionally," Stefanski said. "I think it's our job — I think [offensive coordinator] Tommy Rees does an outstanding job of making sure that we’re intentional about how we want this to operate. One guy will be up first one period and then switch with the next period and rotate every single day and really almost every drill because the truth is we're trying to get the best version of all of our players, so we want to mix and match guys in different spots." It's unclear if Penix will move up to full team drills when the Falcons will have their mandatory minicamp next month. If he doesn't, training camp will be the time when the bulk of the head-to-head competition takes place in Atlanta
Falcons coach Kevin Stefanski detailed plans for an intentional quarterback competition between Michael Penix and Tua Tagovailoa, with rotations planned to evaluate both players. Penix is still recovering from an ACL tear and is limited to non-11-on-11 drills for now
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is entering his seventh season with the team and it could be his best one yet. Herbert has made it to the playoffs in three of the last four years, but has not pulled out a win quite yet. This could be the year where that drought changes. The Chargers have made some changes around Herbert that could lead to him achieving some playoff success soon. In order for the Chargers to get there, Herbert and the team will need to perform better in the regular season. Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton believes Herbert could win his first MVP award this season. “Herbert posted Pro Bowl numbers in a less-than-ideal situation. He’ll be able to raise his level of play with a healthy group,” Moton wrote. “The two-time Pro Bowl signal-caller will also benefit from a change at offensive coordinator. The Chargers hired play-caller Mike McDaniel, who fielded the No. 1 passing offense for the 2023 season with Tua Tagovailoa under center during his time as Miami Dolphins head coach. “McDaniel can expand his playbook with Herbert, who’s more mobile and has a stronger arm than Tagovailoa. His play-calling could help the Chargers’ star quarterback reach an MVP level.” The Chargers have the tools to be elite in the NFL. Now they just need someone who can sharpen those tools and use them correctly. If McDaniel can do that, Herbert will benefit and the Chargers can achieve their goals. BFTB community, does Herbert have what it takes to win MVP? Who is his biggest competition for the award? Let us know in the comments section below
The full schedule for all 32 teams in the National Football League came out last week — including all preseason games for each club. Eagle-eyed Dolphins fans quickly spotted a preseason tilt against the Atlanta Falcons taking place on Friday, August 28th at Hard Rock Stadium, which meant former starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa would be returning to South Florida to square off against the team that drafted him with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. On Tuesday, Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley met with the local media following the team’s OTA practice and was questioned about Miami’s plans for joint practices with preseason opponents. According to Miami’s new coach, the Dolphins will not be conducting joint practices with the Falcons prior to their preseason matchup — which means Miami’s fans and media will not be seeing Tagovailoa going to work against the Dolphins prior to their scheduled exhibition battle. It’s also possible that the lefty signal-caller could sit out that preseason game due to it being the final one for Atlanta prior to the regular season. If that happens, curious eyeballs would have to wait even longer until they could witness Tagovailoa suiting up for an opposing team against Miami. We’ll have to wait and see what comes to pass on game day, but one thing we know for certain is that Tagovailoa and the Falcons will not be squaring off with Hafley’s Dolphins any sooner than their preseason matchup. During the same availability, Hafley did confirm the Dolphins would practice against the Washington Commanders and New York Giants ahead of their preseason clashes against each other, so the Dolphins will not be missing out on the “iron sharpening iron” portion of the NFL preseason
This offseason, there was less speculation about Matthew Stafford’s future and retirement timeline than in previous years, and that could become more of a trend than an outlier despite him being the second-oldest expected starter in the NFL at age 38. Rams fans could be looking forward to at least four more years of Stafford being the oldest starting quarterback in the league. The reasons for him playing until he’s 40 and beyond are growing faster than the grey hairs in his beard. Retirement is a personal decision and could have nothing to do with an ability to play football or make money. Aaron Donald recently emphasized that he always planned to retire after eight seasons and was only enticed to return for two more years because of the Super Bowl. Stafford may want to retire if he wins a second Super Bowl. Or he might want to retire if L.A. does not win the Super Bowl this year. Only he knows the answer. But if he wants to play five more years, it’s hard to believe he lacks the ability to do it.. NFL teams drafted Bryce Young and Cam Ward with the first overall pick in 2023 and 2025 respectively, under the assumption that those quarterbacks would soon become the faces of the NFL. Well, Young and Ward combined to throw 38 touchdown passes in 2025, which is nine fewer than Stafford’s 46 touchdowns en route to winning MVP and also leading the league in passing yards. Ward was only a rookie last year and was not surrounded by much talent. Young is a limited passer who has not proven he can lead a high volume offense, but did take the Panthers to the playoffs at age 24. However, these aren’t outliers. These are examples of a frightening trend of incoming first round quarterbacks proving to be worse than expectations: *benched or in a QB competition in 2026 2019 draft: Kyler Murray*, Daniel Jones 2020 draft: Joe Burrow , Tua Tagovailoa*, Justin Herbert , Jordan Love 2021 draft: Trevor Lawrence , Zach Wilson*, Trey Lance*, Justin Fields*, Mac Jones * 2022 draft: Kenny Pickett * 2023 draft: Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud , Anthony Richardson* 2024 draft: Caleb Williams , Jayden Daniels , Drake Maye , Michael Penix , JJ McCarthy*, Bo Nix 2025 draft: Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart Even in that group of 23 quarterbacks, of the 14 expected starters in Week 1, at least half have a lot to prove before they’re expected to be starters in 2027 and 2028. We saw the lack of belief the league has in young starters late last season when the Indianapolis Colts favored 44-year-old Philip Rivers over any other options that could have been available. His historically-bad athletic limitations were outweighed by the Colts belief in his football IQ and experience. Matthew Stafford is six years younger than Rivers was last season. It’s not that a team would want a 44-year-old quarterback with a weak arm, but this could imply that a 41 or 42-year-old Stafford is far better than the average 25-year-old quarterback. Four of the top-five quarterbacks in passing yards last season were 28 and older: Sam Darnold was the second-youngest at 28 Jared Goff was 31 Dak Prescott was 32 Stafford was 37 Maye was the only outlier and he was a hair from winning MVP. But he was not within a hair of Stafford’s actual value. No offense to Maye and he could be on a trajectory to be unbelievably good next season or 2027, but he was abysmally bad in the playoffs in spite of the Patriots reaching the Super Bowl. Maye was overrated last season and similar to Stroud in 2023, his season-long stats were considerably uplifted by having two or three dominant performances against the worst teams in the league. Maye had 5 touchdowns against the Jets, two more scores than he had in any other game. The NFL’s hope for quarterbacks like Caleb Williams and Maye “proving” that they are about to take over the league because of the seasons and playoff runs they had in 2025 will have to go a lot better than Jayden Daniels’ second season or Stroud’s second season, or they risk becoming

The Falcons wrapped up their major offseason moves, with free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft behind us. While there are likely to be a few veteran additions sprinkled over the next few months, they aren’t likely to be earth-shattering maneuvers. For better or worse, Atlanta seems to be moving forward with a conservative, future-focused approach. Which, for the record, I agree with wholeheartedly. Despite the quieter approach to team-building to kick off the new regime, I think Atlanta has made significant strides in improving the depth and overall quality of the roster. While the starting talent has taken a step back, the roster itself is likely to be a lot more well-rounded. Whether this results in success or failure in the win column remains to be seen. All that being said, it’s time to take my first shot at predicting the Falcons eventual 53-man roster. As you’ll see below, some position groups have gone through pretty drastic transformations this offseason. Others have remained largely intact with one or two key additions. My initial takeaway is that I like the overall look of this team even if their ceiling is probably capped more than in previous seasons. The roster projection is also available in both video and audio format, which you can find embedded below. If you enjoyed the written version, consider giving us a click on these platforms as well. Listen to the audio version of this article using the player below, or find it on your favorite podcast platforms. Italics denote a change from the previous roster projection. Michael Penix Jr. Tua Tagovailoa Trevor Siemian The Falcons will be engaging in a full-on quarterback competition this summer. Much depends on Michael Penix Jr.’s health and return to play timeline heading into his third season. I think Penix still has a strong chance to win the job, and the team would probably prefer that outcome. It’s in everyone’s best interest to see Penix play, whether he ends up looking good or bad. If Penix isn’t healthy in time for training camp, it’ll be tough to for him to overtake veteran Tua Tagovailoa. Tua is a high-variance quarterback but has certainly put together some strong seasons, and it’s entirely possible he outplays Penix this summer and wins the job outright. While I’m intrigued by UDFA addition Jack Strand, he’s very much a developmental project. I can’t really see him overtaking steady veteran Trevor Siemian without a legendary training camp and preseason performance. Bijan Robinson Brian Robinson Jr . Nate Carter I think the Falcons will continue with a light running back room in 2026 despite the coaching changes. Bijan Robinson dominates touches to such a degree that a even the RB3 is unlikely to get snaps on a weekly basis. Brian Robinson Jr. is a solid Tyler Allgeier replacement who can handle a similar role, although I’m not expecting him to be quite as effective. I still believe in Nate Carter, who brings a speed element to Atlanta’s run game that the rest of the group lacks. He’ll face stiff competition from veteran Tyler Goodson , former UDFA Carlos Washington Jr., and new UDFA Cash Jones. Kyle Pitts Charlie Woerner Austin Hooper Brandon Frazier Editor’s Note: This roster projection was written prior to a series of roster moves. I’m leaving in my thoughts on TE Brandon Frazier so you can all enjoy how wrong I was. Atlanta kept their top two tight ends from 2025, with a long-term extension possibly looming for Kyle Pitts and Charlie Woerner retained despite a high salary cost. The team also brought back Austin Hooper, who can provide a veteran presence with solid blocking and receiving in 13 personnel. I’m guessing blocking will be a bigger emphasis with this coaching staff, and UDFA Brandon Frazier could stake his claim to the roster with a strong training camp performance. Drake London Jahan Dotson Zachariah Branch Olamide Zaccheaus Chris Blair With tight end likely to have a larger presence, I expect Atlanta’s wide receivers to take on a

Every team, be it the NFL, NCAA Football, or any other sport, has one player, a head coach, or even an owner (if you are unfortunate enough to be a Dallas Cowboys fan) who is or becomes the face of the team. For our very own Miami Dolphins, it could be said that it was a player or even head coach, Don Shula, during the glory days of the franchise. For a very long time, it would have been quarterback Dan Marino. Since Marino retired, it has probably changed in the minds of the fans multiple times. Most recently, for better or worse, I suspect it was starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa . Now that Tua has moved on, someone else will have to take that title. So this evening’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is: Who do you believe will emerge as the new “face of the franchise” for our Miami Dolphins this upcoming season? Will it be the new starting quarterback, Malik Willis, or maybe running back De’Von Achane, or new linebacker and assumed future quarterback of the defense, Jacob Rodriguez, or maybe even the new head coach, Jeff Hafley? Maybe it’s someone I haven’t even thought of, so please let us know who you believe will emerge as the face of the franchise and why. Please share your thoughts and answers in the comments section below
The Cincinnati Bengals have been active and unconventional this offseason. They’ve done things fans have been seeking from them for years. And now they’re getting recognized for it. Most recently, Adam Schein, host of the New York Post’s “Schein Time” has named the Bengals his winners of the 2026 offseason. “I’ve been in love all season,” he began in a post. “But I think the big winner after NFL schedule release… The 2026 Cincinnati Bengals.” Schein didn’t provide much reason as to why he feels this way in the post. But Fox Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano went into more detail in a piece he wrote about the winners and losers of the schedule release . Vacchiano noted that injuries to Joe Burrow and slow starts have hurt the Bengals in recent years. With Burrow currently healthy, they’re set up for a decent start and “an incredibly strong finish”. The analyst said the Bengals have “semi-easy wins” in the form of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , Pittsburgh Steelers , and Miami Dolphins in their first five games. “But it’s what happens from Week 8 on where the magic occurs,” Vacchiano continued. “They face just two teams that are projected to finish above .500 in their final 12 games, and they get both of those — December games against the Chiefs and the Ravens — at home. They also will play each of their first seven games at 1 p.m. on Sundays, too.” Others have taken note of how Cincinnati is better positioned to compete this year. Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson put the Bengals among this offseason’s winners . Among other things, they like how the team went out and fixed their defensive line

Featured pricing is subject to change. The NFC South almost belonged to the Atlanta Falcons in 2025. To end the season, Kirk Cousins stepped up in Michael Penix Jr.’s absence and helped the club cobble together a four-game win streak to tie the Panthers and Buccaneers at 8-9. Unfortunately, due to a tiebreaker, Carolina won the division and sent Atlanta packing for the offseason. Once the season officially wrapped, the franchise went into rebuild mode and dumped head coach Raheem Morris for former Browns field general Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski, 44, joins Falcons nucleus members Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson , Chris Lindstrom , Drake London and Jesse Bates III along with head-turning offseason acquisitions Brian Robinson Jr. , Tua Tagovailoa , Jahan Dotson , Jake Bailey and Austin Hooper as well as standout second round draft pick Avieon Terrell. And, while they look great on paper and have the fifth-easiest schedule of any NFL team in ’26 (based on last year’s winning percentages), don’t start daydreaming of a playoff berth banner hanging from the rafters just yet. Penix Jr. and the Dirty Birds will really have to show up this year given how many perennial contenders — and 2025 under-performers but often great teams — are heading to Mercedes-Benz Stadium come September. Thanks to the NFL schedule rollout, we know the club will have to face Lamar Jackson ’s Baltimore Ravens (Oct. 11), Caleb Williams Chicago Bears (Oct. 18), Brock Purdy ’s San Francisco 49ers (Oct. 25), Patrick Mahomes ’ Kansas City Chiefs (Nov. 15) and Jared Goff ’s Detroit Lions (Dec. 6) at home. Of course, they’ll meet up with the Bryce Young’s Carolina Panthers (Sept. 20) and Baker Mayfield ’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Dec. 27), too. Following a disappointing 7-10 season, team president Tom Garfinkel cleaned house and canned head coach Mike McDaniel while starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was cut loose and signed with the Atlanta Falcons . To make up for their absences, the franchise signed Packers quarterback Malik Willis to lead the offense and enlisted fellow Green Bay alum Jeff Hafley as his new skipper. And, now that the 2026 NFL schedule has officially been rolled out, Dolfans finally know what year one of the Willis-Halfey (or maybe Quinn Ewers ) era looks like. Notable opponents set to visit the club’s Hard Rock Stadium include Patrick Mahomes ’ Kansas City Chiefs (Sept. 27), Drake Maye ’s AFC champion New England Patriots (Nov. 1), Jared Goff ’s Detroit Lions (Nov. 8), Caleb Williams ’ Chicago Bears (Dec. 13) and Josh Allen ’s Buffalo Bills on Jan. 3, 2027 in the final home game of the season. Unfortunately, due to a number of factors out of their control, Miami encountered a perfect storm and ended up with the second toughest schedule of all 32 NFL teams, according to Yahoo! Sports . “Any situation I want to go in, I want to win in everything that we do,” Hafley told former NFL star Richard Sherman on his podcast. “I think the expectations for right now are we have to build this foundation and build this culture the right way. And I know people don’t want to hear me say that, but I think that’s really important. And then … you have to create that competition to push guys to improve every single day…we need to create that competitive way right now, and I think that’s really important.” To make sure the squad is ready, new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan filled major holes over the offseason after jettisoning Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill , Jaylen Waddle , Bradley Chubb , Jaelan Phillips and a slew of other core players. Taking their place are free agent signees like wideout Tutu Atwell , offensive linebacker Joshua Uche , lineman Jamaree Salyer , receiver Jalen Tolbert and offensive tackle Charlie Heck . Joining them are returning stars De’Von Achane, Zach Sieler , Chop Robinson and Jordyn Brooks along with standout draft picks Kadyn Proctor, Chris Johnson and Jacob Rodriguez. The Washington Commanders open the 2026 preseason with a home game against the Miami Dolphins . They will be hosting a joint practice with their first opponent of the preseason, something Dan Quinn has done the last two seasons. That information was first reported by Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic on Thursday evening. Washington had joint practices with the Jets in 2024, Quinn’s first season, and a practice with the AFC Champion New England Patriots last year. They were also supposed to have a joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens in 2025, but that was called off due to scheduling conflicts . The Commanders are hosting the Dolphins for their first preseason game on Aug. 16th at 7 p.m. ET. This will be the NFL’s first look at a Miami team that has undergone major changes to their roster and coaching staff. Head coach Mike McDaniel was fired and starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and receiver Tyreek Hill were released. They hired a new general manager (Jon-Eric Sullivan), head coach (Jeff Hafley) and signed QB Malik Willis in free agency. The Commanders have also made some big changes to their coaching staff and roster. Washington promoted assistant QB coach David Blough to offensive coordinator, replacing Kliff Kingsbury. Daronte Jones was hired from Brian Flores’s Vikings coaching staff to replace Joe Whitt Jr as defensive coordinator. Commanders GM Adam Peters also invested heavily in fixing a defense that was embarrassing to watch for stretches of last season. Jayden Daniels will also be back and healthy after dealing with multiple injuries last season. This is the first game of the preseason, so expect a lot of vanilla offense and not a lot of starters playing significant snaps. We’ll get reports from joint practices from reporters covering both teams. Training camp will be wrapped up and this will be a nice little preview for the season. Week 1 – vs Miami Dolphins (Sunday, August 16, 7 p.m. ET, CBS) Week 2 – @ Detroit Lions (Date/Time TBD; CBS) Week 3 – vs Baltimore Ravens (Friday, August 28, 7 p.m., CBS)
The full 2026 NFL schedule was released on Thursday night — including dates and times for all 17 regular season Miami Dolphins games . However, following that release, the NFL also released preseason schedules for all teams — and a familiar face will be returning to Miami to face-off against the team that made him the #5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was released by the Dolphins this offseason, but quickly found a new home in Atlanta with the Falcons. During the final week of preseason action, Tagovailoa will be returning to South Florida when the Falcons play the Dolphins on Friday, August 28th at 7:00 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium. It is not uncommon for NFL teams to practice against each other for a few days leading up to a preseason showdown, so Tagovailoa may find himself on familiar ground for longer than one game if the Dolphins and Falcons choose to mix it up in Miami Gardens ahead of their Week 3 preseason tilt. Of course, plenty of teams rest starters during the final week of the preseason, so Tagovailoa may not actually end up seeing the playing field when the game kicks off, but seeing the former first-rounder on the sidelines again in Miami — albeit on the visiting sideline this time around — will be a peculiar sight nonetheless. We will continue to keep you updated on all things Miami Dolphins as the march towards the preseason — and regular season — continues on through the summer

The 2026 NFL regular season is finally here. Now we can talk about it. Sure, the next few hours will be dominated by breakdowns of all the schedule release videos put together by the various teams, but let’s look ahead to the first week of the season. What games should you watch, and what games are you not even putting on the quadbox? This will be a game of NFL football. Yes, there is the Robert Saleh revenge factor, but even that does not move the needle too much. This could be Kirk Cousins versus Malik Willis . Or it could be Fernando Mendoza versus Malik Willis. Either way, this is a game to keep tabs on using your phone. Tua Tagovailoa versus Aaron Rodgers ? Michael Penix Jr . versus Drew Allar ? Yeah, we’re just not sure this should be high on your list of priorities in Week 1. Who asked for this, besides perhaps Seattle fans? We … just saw this game. It did not go well. After crossing the 50-yard line on their opening possession, the Patriots did not see Seahawks’ territory until their first drive of the fourth quarter. The highlight of the night was, unless you are a Seahawks fan, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. Sure, having a non-conference game in this slot makes sense, for playoff tiebreakers and things like that. But, we just saw this game and we’re not sure anyone wants to see it again anytime soon. Particularly on opening night. It will be fun to see Jeremiyah Love’s debut, but this could turn ugly quickly. NFC East games in primetime slots will continue until morale improves. Yes, this is John Harbaugh’s first game with the Giants, and yes since it is an island game we know you will be watching. But on a list like this, we do not feel compelled to bump this game up much higher. The Bengals have hopes of a return to the postseason, provided they can get a year of completely healthy. The Buccaneers are hoping to bounce back after a collapse in the second half of 2025. Still, we’re in something of “wait and see” mode when it comes to both teams. Given the rest of the early Sunday slate, there are some games on the schedule we are more excited about. We are putting this game right in the middle for one simple reason. We do not know who will be under center for each team. Both Patrick Mahomes and Bo Nix are coming back from injuries suffered late in the season. If both starting quarterback are back for Week 1, then this game easily moves up this list. But if we are talking about a Justin Fields versus Jarrett Stidham matchup, then this game could just as easily slide down this list. So it stays in the middle for now. Check with us in August. We absolutely loved what the Browns did in the draft. We were not fans of what the Jaguars did. But that is why they play the games, right? Honestly, the reason this game is so high is this: Sonny Styles . The dynamic linebacker making his debut against Jalen Hurts and this offense? That is going to be a blast to watch. Add in the return of Jayden Daniels , and the fact that this game is in the late afternoon Sunday slate (against games such as Cardinals at Chargers and Dolphins at Raiders) and you have a game you’ll want to be watching. The Saints could be a sneaky good team this year, and we look at Detroit as one of the teams that missed the playoffs in 2025 yet should make a return to the postseason in 2026. Because of that, this is a game we’re going to be keeping an eye on. This game is an exciting, early-season test for both teams. Will Daniel Jones be back, allowing the Colts to return to what they showed during the first half of 2026? How will the Ravens fare in new head coach Jesse Minter’s debut? A Week 1 tonesetter for two teams with playoff aspirations. Who will be under center for Minnesota when this game kicks off? The folks at Startnine.win have a thought. But beyond J.J. McCarthy versus Kyler Murray , the bigger question here is Jordan Love versus Brian Flores. How Love and the Green Bay offense handle what Flores throws at them w

The Pittsburgh Steelers will reportedly host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 of the 2026 season. The Steelers are very familiar with new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, as he was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2020-25. The Falcons sport a new quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa , who was released by the Miami Dolphins after a poor 2025 season. This is the third time since 2010 that the Steelers and Falcons are facing off in Week 1, the most recent of which came in 2024 when the Steelers won 18-16 off the strength of six Chris Boswell field goals. The last time these two teams faced off in Week 1 was in 2010, when Rashard Mendenhall iced the 15-9 win in overtime with a 50-yard touchdown run. The Falcons have never defeated the Steelers in Pittsburgh. Let us know what you think in the comments . Be sure to bookmark Behind the Steel Curtain for all the latest news, breakdowns, and more!
