Mallory's playing time and production have trended down each season. The 2023 fifth-round pick had 18 catches in 12 games as a rookie, four catches across 10 games in 2024 and just one reception in two games played last season. Heading into the final year of his rookie deal, Mallory appears to be no higher than fourth on the Colts' TE depth chart behind Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree
As Shane Steichen’s job hangs in the balance, the Colts coach is sticking with quarterback Daniel Jones. Steichen said after Sunday’s 16-10 loss to the Vikings that he has not considered a quarterback change. “Because I got a ton of faith in Daniel,” Steichen said, via James Boyd of TheAthletic.com. “The game plan today was to go in and run the football. Obviously, at the end he had the interception, and that happens in football.” Jones was 13-of-22 for 108 yards with an interception. Vikings defensive back Harrison Smith picked Jones on a pass intended for tight end Will Mallory with 1:08 remaining, ending any hope of a comeback. The Colts signed Daniel Jones to a two-year, $88 million extension in the offseason, even though he was returning from a torn right Achilles. The Colts are 2-5, and Jones has thrown four touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Colts have 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard behind Jones

Colts tight end Will Mallory is a questionable fantasy start for Week 7, with limited upside against a tough Vikings defense
Mallory will once again operate in an expanded role after Tyler Warren (groin) was ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings, Abby Halpin of the Colts' official site reports. Warren will end up missing a second consecutive game while battling a groin injury, so Mallory and Mo Alie-Cox will serve as the Colts' top tight ends for Sunday's contest. Mallory turned six targets into two catches for 20 yards in a Week 6 loss to the Titans, and he finished that contest third in targets behind Keenan Allen (11) and Josh Downs (eight)
Adds: Will Mallory. Drops: Jaleel McLaughlin
Mallory caught two of six passes for 20 yards during Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Titans. Mallory was cleared to make his 2026 debut Sunday after missing the Colts first five games of the regular season due to a thumb injury that was severe enough for him to go on injured reserve. Although he didn't put up eye-popping stats, he led all Colts tight ends with 43 offensive snaps and finished third on the team in targets behind Keenan Allen (11) and Josh Downs (eight). Mallory's playing time would likely decrease if Tyler Warren (groin) was cleared to return for Week 7 against the Vikings on Oct. 25
The Colts activated Mallory (thumb) from injured reserve Saturday. Mallory doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Titans and is slated to make his 2026 debut. He should slot into the tight-end mix alongside Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree behind Tyler Warren (groin). Mallory has 23 career catches for 252 yards across 24 regular-season appearances
The Colts added quarterback Daniel Jones’s most frequent target to their injury report on Friday. Tight end Tyler Warren was limited in the team’s final practice of Week 6 because of a groin injury. Warren is listed as questionable to play against the Titans on Sunday. Warren has 30 catches for 214 yards and two touchdowns so far this season. He also has a touchdown run. Linebacker Jayden Carlies (ribs) and wide receiver Ashton Dulin (hamstring) did not practice at all this week. Both players have been ruled out for Sunday. Tight end Will Mallory (thumb) joins Warren in the questionable category. Jones (ankle) and wide receiver Josh Downs (hamstring) do not have injury designations
Mallory (thumb) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. Mallory strung together a trio of full practices during Week 6 prep while in the final stages of his recovery from a thumb injury that landed him on injured reserve at the start of the regular season. He would need to be activated from IR by the Colts on Saturday in order to be available for Sunday's AFC South tilt
Daniel Jones listed as full practice participant with ankle injury
Colts place two wide receivers on questionable status ahead of Sunday game
Mallory (thumb) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers. Mallory was designated to return to practice Wednesday. The tight end remains on injured reserve with a thumb injury but was able to log full practice sessions throughout Week 5 prep. The 27-year-old likely has not yet built up his conditioning enough for the Colts to allow him to suit up for Sunday's contest
The Colts have finalized their 53-player roster, with quarterback Easton Stick being among the notable cuts. Several other players were released, while D.J. Montgomery and Coleman Owen were placed on season-ending injured reserve
