The Texans have their initial 53-player roster. They announced a series of moves Sunday that included the termination of the contracts of CB Bryce Hall, linebacker Caleb Johnson, defensive tackle Naquan Jones, wide receiver Zay Jones, tight end Brevin Jordan, safety George Odum, defensive end Dominique Robinson, quarterback Brett Rypien, wide receiver Sterling Shepard and wide receiver Justin Watson. Woody Marks Should Have Plenty of Opportunities to Catch Passes
Although the Houston Texans acquired running back David Montgomery in an offseason trade with the Detroit Lions, second-year back Woody Marks should "stay fresh in a complementary role that should involve a lot of opportunities to catch passes out of the backfield," according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. As long as Montgomery stays healthy, Marks won't have an opportunity to take over a three-down role in Houston, but he could still be very valuable for fantasy managers in PPR leagues, and RotoBaller has Marks currently ranked as the No. 45 overall RB in half-PPR setups. The former fourth-rounder out of USC in 2025 was a prolific pass-catcher as a Trojan and during his time at Mississippi State. Marks finished his rookie campaign in the NFL with a team-high 703 rushing yards on 196 carries after taking over the starting gig from veteran Nick Chubb. The 25-year-old added 24 receptions on 36 targets for 208 yards and three scores through the air in 16 regular-season games (eight starts). In college, Marks had at least 47 catches in four of his five seasons

Selected in the sixth round of the 2025 draft, Jordan spent most of the year on the Texans' practice squad before being needed late in the regular season when Nick Chubb and Woody Marks were both banged up. The Louisville product made the most of his opportunity, rushing for 101 yards on 15 carries in his Week 15 NFL debut against the Cardinals, but he wasn't able to follow it up the next week versus the Raiders and saw his usage dwindle until he picked up a high-ankle sprain in Week 18 that kept him off the playoff roster. Jordan posted an uninspiring 4.56 40-yard time at the combine and doesn't have ideal size for a feature back, but he's able to maximize what physical tools he does have thanks to plus vision, good elusiveness in space and a three-down skill set. The Texans brought in David Montgomery this offseason to be the new lead back and still have Marks around to handle passing-down duties, but Jordan may have shown enough to be a regular part of the gameday roster in a depth role during his sophomore season
