Patriots release RB Hassan Haskins
The Patriots traded for running back Corey Kiner on Saturday and they made space for him by parting ways with another back. They announced that they have released Hassan Haskins when they confirmed their trade with Arizona for Kiner. Haskins signed with the Patriots earlier this month and saw action in all three of the team’s preseason games. Haskins spent the last two seasons with the Chargers and entered the league as a Titans fourth-round pick in 2022. Kiner joins a running back room that also has TreVeyon Henderson, Rhamondre Stevenson, Lan Larison, JaMycal Hasty, and seventh-round pick Jam Miller in it at the moment

Ja’Quinden Jackson’s agent offered good news on the Eagles running back’s health after a scary incident on the opening kickoff Saturday night. Damien Butler of CMV Sports said in a statement that Jackson is “awake, has full movement and use of all four limbs, and his CT scan came back negative.” “Tonight, above everything else, we thank God that Ja’Quinden is doing well after what was an incredibly frightening moment,” Butler said. “What happened tonight was frightening for everyone who witnessed it, and we are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles medical staff and all of the first responders who acted quickly and took great care of Ja’Quinden in those critical moments.” Jackson dove at the legs of Patriots running back Lan Larison while trying to make a tackle and took a knee to the head. Jackson was knocked out, and both arms went into the fencing position. Medical personnel immediately began work on Jackson before he was placed on a backboard and then a stretcher and placed into an ambulance, which took him to a local hospital for evaluation. Butler did not indicate whether Jackson remains in the hospital and/or whether he will fly home with his teammates

Patriots OT Marcus Bryant out with an ankle injury
Patriots offensive tackle Marcus Bryant was injured on the fourth official play from scrimmage in Saturday night’s preseason game against the Eagles. Bryant started at right tackle but remained down on the field after a 1-yard run by running back Lan Larison. He needed assistance getting off the field and eventually to the training room. Bryant was heavily favoring his left ankle. The Patriots announced that he is out for the remainder of the game with an ankle injury. The 2025 seventh-round pick is competing with Caleb Lomu for the swing tackle job. His injury is the latest in the offensive line for the Patriots. Last week, New England lost its top two backup interior offensive linemen with Ben Brown now out for the rest of the preseason with a leg injury, and Andrew Rupcich was waived with an injury settlement with a strained MCL

Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson left Gillette Stadium in an ambulance during Saturday night’s preseason game. Jackson was injured on the opening kickoff. He appeared to take a knee to the head from Patriots running back Lan Larison after diving at Larison’s legs to make a tackle. Jackson was knocked out, and both arms went into the fencing position. Medical personnel immediately began work on Jackson before he was placed on a backboard and then a stretcher and placed into the ambulance, which came onto the field. The entire Eagles team went onto the field to wish Jackson well before he left. The Eagles released a statement saying, “Jackson has strength and movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.”

New England Patriots seventh-round rookie running back Jam Miller has had a relatively quiet summer, but a piece of under-the-radar news from before the Patriots' first preseason game could have him positioned to seize the team's third running back spot behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. Third-year player Terrell Jennings, who by most accounts was the leading candidate to win the job, was placed on season-ending injured reserve before the Patriots' 13-13 tie with the Colts, and in starting the game and earning 55 hard yards on 14 carries, ESPN's Mike Reiss believes Miller may have shown enough to give him the inside track to the RB3 role. Second-year player Lan Larison, now the clearest competition for the job, gained only one yard on seven carries, but caught a team-leading six passes and also returned kicks, staying in the battle for what could be one of New England's final roster spots

Rhamondre Stevenson Leaves Tuesday's Practice Early
New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (undisclosed) left the practice field as players prepared for final sprints on Tuesday at training camp, according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. Stevenson was a full participant in practice, but he left for undisclosed reasons and didn't speak with the media afterward. It's unclear why Stevenson left practice early, but we will be keeping a close eye on the situation. If it is an injury, the good news is that it's early in training camp, so Stevenson could still be ready for the start of the 2026 regular season if it's not a serious injury. If this is something that sidelines Stevenson for an extended period of time, it will cause second-year back TreVeyon Henderson's ADP this summer to rise dramatically, with Lan Larison also seeing more opportunities in New England's backfield as the backup. Most likely, the Patriots are being extra cautious with whatever Stevenson is dealing with early in camp
