Odell Beckham Jr. has made the Giants’ initial 53-man roster and his No. 13 jersey is now available. Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt was among the cuts that the Giants made to get down to the roster limit. Hyatt was a 2023 third-round pick, but he only caught 36 passes over his first three NFL seasons. The Giants also waived or released quarterbacks Brandon Allen and Jake Haener; wide receivers Braxton Berrios, Dalen Cambre, Xavier Gipson, Isaiah Hodgins, and Kobe Prentice; defensive linemen Anquin Barnes, Ben Barten, Marlon Davidson, Leki Fotu, Josh Topou, and Zacch Pickens; linebackers Trace Ford, Khalid Kareem, Chandler Martin, Darius Muasau, Caleb Murphy, and Anfernee Orji; defensive backs Ugo Amadi, Beau Brade, Art Green, Raheem Layne, and J.T. The Giants have begun reducing their roster to 53 players. They announced eight cuts ahead of Sunday’s 6 p.m. ET deadline. The Giants will cut CB Ugo Amadi, RB Damon Bankston, TE Josiah Deguara, DL Leki Fotu, WR Isaiah Hodgins, OL Brenden Jaimes, LB Anfernee Orji and WR Kobe Prentice. Hodgins has spent the past 3 1/2 seasons with the Giants, making 66 catches for 708 yards and eight touchdowns. The moves come the day after the Giants wrapped up the preseason with a 23-6 victory over the Jets. The claiming period for players placed on waivers at the roster reduction will expire at 1 p.m. ET on Monday. The Giants are fifth in the claiming order. Teams can then establish a practice squad of 17 players, as long as one player qualifies and is designated as an international player
The Patriots signed first-year offensive lineman Jack Conley and veteran punter Matt Haack, the team announced Monday. In corresponding moves, the Patriots released rookie cornerback Kenneth Harris and rookie wide receiver Kobe Prentice. Conley, 25, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with New England on May 9, 2025, out of Boston College. He had two brief stints on the Patriots’ practice squad last year. He also spent time on the Detroit and Cleveland practice squads during the 2025 season. Conley went to training camp with Cleveland this past summer, but the Browns released him on Aug. 18. Haack, 32, entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Dolphins out of Arizona State in 2017. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Dolphins (2017-20). He has also played for the Bills (2021), Colts (2022), Browns (2023), Giants (2024) and Cardinals (2025). Haack has also spent time with the Jaguars and the Broncos. He went to training camp with the Commanders this summer but was released on Aug. 18. Haack has appeared in 110 NFL games and has 478 punts for 21,513 yards and a 45.0-yard average. Harris, 24, was signed by New England as a rookie free agent out of Oklahoma State on May 8. Prentice, 22, was claimed off waivers by New England on July 25. He signed with the Panthers as a rookie free agent on May 7
You only get one chance to make a first impression, and for rookie NFL quarterbacks, their best chance at that impression comes in the preseason. This year, the Cardinals ' Carson Beck and the Panthers ' Haynes King got things off to a sizzling start in the Hall of Fame Game. Beck -- a third-round pick out of Miami -- went 15-for-19 for 188 yards and a touchdown in a thoroughly impressive performance , but King -- undrafted out of Georgia Tech -- got the last laugh, diving in for a game-winning touchdown on the final play. Think the preseason is boring? Think again! Unfortunately, neither Beck nor King could make any sort of second impression this week, as both were dealing with injuries. The Patriots added a wide receiver to their roster on Saturday. They announced that they have claimed wide receiver Kobe Prentice off of waivers. Prentice was dropped by the Panthers on Friday. Prentice signed with the Panthers after going undrafted out of Baylor in April. He had 26 receptions for 380 yards and six touchdowns in his final college season. The Patriots waived offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez in a corresponding move. Gutierrez entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Broncos in 2022 and has had stints with a number of teams, including a couple of tours on the New England practice squad. He has appeared in two regular season games
A 12th wide receiver is inbound to Foxborough. The New England Patriots announced the claiming of rookie wideout Kobe Prentice off waivers on Saturday, as previously reported by KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson . The organization waived offensive tackle Sebastian Gutierrez in a corresponding move following the first practice of training camp. Prentice, 22, entered the NFL with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in May. The 5-foot-10, 184-pound target landed on the wire to begin the weekend. A former four-star recruit, Prentice played in 36 games at Alabama before transferring to Baylor and adding 11 appearances as a senior. Making four starts between the SEC and the Big 12, his collegiate run spanned 86 receptions for 1,160 yards and 11 touchdowns. Gutierrez, 28, returned to Gillette Stadium on a futures contract in February. The 6-foot-5, 308-pound tackle logged a series of stints on New England ’s practice squad dating back to 2022, including re-signings last September and January. Beginning his NFL journey with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Minot State, Gutierrez has twice served as a standard elevation while making additional stops with the Kansas City Chiefs , San Francisco 49ers , Las Vegas Raiders , Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts . The Patriots move deeper into the summer with an active receiver room that also includes A.J. Brown , Romeo Doubs , Kayshon Boutte , Mack Hollins , Kyle Williams , DeMario Douglas , Efton Chism III , Jeremiah Webb , Kyle Dixon, Nick DeGennaro and Cameron Dorner. The Panthers added even more depth at offensive tackle on Friday, after signing offensive tackle Derrell Bailey earlier in the day. Carolina claimed offensive tackle Ryan Hayes off waivers from the Titans, the team announced. The Panthers are currently practicing without tackles Ikem Ekwonu and Taylor Moton. Hayes, 26, was on the practice squad of the Falcons last season. He entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick of the Dolphins in 2023 out of Michigan. He has also spent time with the Colts, the Dolphins a second time and the Falcons. He has appeared in one game, which came with the Dolphins in 2024.
