Cade Otton - Logs three catches in victory Thursday night

Otton caught three of four targets for 25 yards in a 24-16 win over Dallas on Thursday. Otton was active early, catching two passes on the Buccaneers' first drive. However, he logged only two more targets and one more reception -- an 11-yarder that helped set up a field goal in the third quarter -- the rest of the way. The 25 total yards were a low mark so far this season for the veteran tight end, who has caught between three and five passes in all five of Tampa Bay's games so far. That at least gives him a reliable floor, but Otton doesn't have a very high week-to-week fantasy ceiling

Cade Otton Has High-End TE2 Potential for Week 1

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton might be a sneaky option for fantasy managers this weekend. Otton heads into a favorable road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, who were one of the worst defenses this past season. Otton might be asked to do more offensively than fantasy managers might think. The Bucs lost top wide receiver Mike Evans in free agency, and fellow wideout Jalen McMillan (knee) is doubtful for the season opener. Otton is entering his fifth season in Tampa Bay and has built good chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. The 27-year-old has seen 80 or more targets over each of the last two seasons. Given the injuries and the matchup, Otton should offer high-end TE2 value for Week 1

Over the last two regular seasons, he's recorded exactly 59 catches on both occasions, totaling 1,172 yards and five touchdowns on 168 targets across 30 contests

The Buccaneers haven't revealed the nature of Otton's injury nor its severity, but the fifth-year tight end appears unlikely to be available for Saturday's preseason game versus Kansas City. When healthy, Otton projects to take on a heavy snap share on a weekly basis, but he isn't expected to be much more than a third or fourth option in the passing game for quarterback Baker Mayfield and has never been a major red-zone target (11 touchdowns in 63 career regular-season games)

Cade Otton Could Become Underneath Threat in New Bucs Offense

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton had a nice one-handed touchdown catch from quarterback Baker Mayfield during a red-zone period in training camp practice on Friday, according to Brianna Dix of Buccaneers.com. Otton has an elite catch radius and is a QB-friendly target for the veteran Mayfield, and Dix notes that Otton became a threat underneath on Friday for new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Despite injuries to Tampa's receiving corps last year, the 27-year-old Otton failed to take advantage. The former fourth-rounder from the University of Washington did match his career high of 59 receptions, but he produced 572 yards and only one touchdown catch on 81 targets through 16 regular-season games in his fourth year in the NFL. Future Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans is gone, but the Bucs still have a capable trio of receivers in Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin Jr., and Jalen McMillan, leaving Otton as the No. 4 option for Mayfield. Robinson's new offense could involve Otton more, but for now, he profiles best in fantasy as a touchdown-dependent TE2 streamer
