Michael Penix Jr. has thrown for three touchdowns in each of his last two games, despite inconsistent yardage. He has increased his passing volume recently, attempting at least 32 passes in three straight games. While his fantasy production is heavily reliant on touchdowns due to limited rushing ability, his recent success makes him a viable streamer in deeper leagues
It looks like Tua Tagovailoa will be Atlanta’s backup quarterback when the team plays Green Bay on Thursday night. Tagovailoa has no game status on the Falcons’ final injury report of the week, meaning he is available to play. Head coach Kevin Stefanski noted earlier on Wednesday that Tagovailoa was trending toward being the backup behind Michael Penix Jr. this week. Tagovailoa was supposed to start the season opener, but suffered an oblique injury during the practice week. Cooper Rush started the first two games as Michael Penix Jr. was still recovering from reconstructive knee surgery. But now Penix is QB1 with Tagovailoa presumably QB2 for Week 3. Elsewhere on the injury report, cornerback Billy Bowman (Achilles) is questionable while defensive end Samson Ebukam (hamstring) is out. Running back Bijan Robinson (ankle), defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus (thumb), tight end Nick Muse (shoulder), and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (rib) are off the injury report and are set to play
Tua Tagovailoa won’t be starting for the Falcons on Thursday night, but he could suit up for the first time this season. The Falcons listed Tagovailoa as a full participant in practice on Tuesday for the first time since he suffered an oblique injury during a practice ahead of Week 1. The Falcons already announced that Michael Penix will make his 2026 debut as their starter against the Packers this week and Tagovailoa could be their backup ahead of Cooper Rush and Jack Strand. Rush started the first two games and Strand replaced him in the second half of Atlanta’s Week 2 loss to the Panthers. Defensive end Samson Ebukam (hamstring) was the only player listed as out of practice Tuesday. The Falcons also put cornerback A.J. Terrell (groin) on injured reserve earlier in the day. Cornerback Billy Bowman (Achilles), tight end Nick Muse (shoulder), right tackle Jawaan Taylor (rib), defensive end Brandon Dorlus (thumb), running back Brian Robinson (ankle), and defensive lineman LaCale London (hip) were listed as full participants

Falcons put Da’Shawn Hand on IR, promote TE Nick Muse to active roster
Falcons defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand suffered a season-ending quad injury in the season opener and the Falcons moved him off the active roster on Wednesday. Hand was placed on injured reserve and the Falcons announced that they have signed tight end Nick Muse off of their practice squad in a corresponding move. They also signed defensive end Drake Jackson and running back Khalil Herbert to the practice squad. Muse signed with the Falcons in August and joined the practice squad after being released as part of the final cuts. He was elevated from the practice squad for the team’s Week 1 loss to the Steelers and made one tackle on special teams. Muse played in 16 games for the Vikings between 2022 and 2024. He caught one pass during his time in Minnesota

The list of healthy Falcons quarterbacks keeps getting shorter. The team announced on Saturday that Cooper Rush is dealing with back spasms. Rush was installed as the Week 1 starter after Tua Tagovailoa was ruled out with the oblique injury he suffered during Thursday’s practice and the Falcons say he is still expected to play against the Steelers. Michael Penix has been ruled out as he continues to recover from last season’s torn ACL, so undrafted rookie Jack Strand is the only other available quarterback in Atlanta. The Falcons also announced that they have elevated linebacker Bralen Trice and tight end Nick Muse from the practice squad. Offensive tackle Cameron Williams was placed on injured reserve to round out Saturday’s roster moves
The Falcons have joined the four-quarterback club, keeping Michael Penix Jr, Cooper Rush, Jack Strand, and Tua Tagovailoa on the initial roster
The Falcons claimed offensive guard Jaeden Roberts off waivers, the team announced Tuesday. The Eagles waived Roberts on Monday. Roberts spent four seasons at the University of Alabama but went undrafted in the 2026 draft. He signed with the Eagles as a college free agent in May. Roberts started 37 career games in four collegiate seasons, including 2023 when current Falcons offensive coordinator Tommy Rees was his offensive coordinator at Alabama. In the past week, the Falcons have cut inside linebacker Troy Andersen, signed defensive end Cameron Sample and running back Trey Sermon, activated right tackle Jawaan Taylor off the active/PUP list, signed tight end Nick Muse and waived wide receiver Le’Meke Brockington and linebacker Malik Verdon with injury designations
The Falcons have added a tight end. Atlanta announced on Tuesday morning that the club has signed Nick Muse. Muse, 27, has appeared in 16 career games since Minnesota selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 draft. He has also spent time with the Eagles, Cardinals, Rams, Jets, and Lions. He had joined Detroit earlier this month but was released after just a few days with the club. Additionally, the Falcons have waived/injured receiver Le’Meke Brockington and linebacker Malik Verdon
The Lions have not announced the signing of quarterback Josh Dobbs yet, but they did announce some other transactions on Sunday. They formally placed Teddy Bridgewater on the reserve/retired list after head coach Dan Campbell revealed the quarterback is stepping away from football. Campbell said he believes this is a permanent decision by Bridgewater, which is why they’re adding Dobbs to back up Jared Goff. Detroit also signed linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga and cornerback Ryan Cooper. Ogbongbemiga spent the last two seasons with the Bears and saw most of his action on special teams. He had 30 tackles and a sack with Chicago and spent his first three seasons with the Chargers. Cooper played one game for the Ravens in 2024 and also spent time in the UFL. The Lions waived tight end Nick Muse to round out the day’s moves
The Lions have added some depth at tight end. Detroit announced on Monday morning that the club has signed Nick Muse. Muse, 27, has appeared in 16 career games, all of which came with the Vikings. Minnesota brought him into the league as a seventh-round pick in 2022. He’s also spent time with the Eagles, Cardinals, Rams, and Jets. As a corresponding move, the Lions waived receiver Tarik Black, who had joined the club in June
