Michael Wilson's fantasy value may be impacted by the Cardinals' offseason moves and potential quarterback uncertainty
Running back contract values have been rising, with five big deals signed this offseason surpassing a 4% cap threshold. This indicates a strong likelihood of RB1-level volume for players like Christian McCaffrey, De’Von Achane, Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker III, Jeremiyah Love, and Travis Etienne Jr. The article discusses how these contracts provide clarity on a team's commitment to a running back, making them steadier fantasy picks. Even with potential competition, like Bhayshul Tuten for Etienne in New Orleans, or existing veteran RBs like Alvin Kamara, the substantial contracts signal a significant role
Jeremiyah Love and Fernando Mendoza are emerging as early favorites for NFL Rookie of the Year, with odds of +430. Love, a RB drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, showed explosive speed and production in college. Mendoza, a QB joining the Las Vegas Raiders, brings championship and Heisman hype. Carnell Tate, a WR for the Tennessee Titans, is also noted for his route-running ability
Working our way through previewing the Dallas Cowboys 2026 schedule, it is time to look at the Arizona Cardinals . Starting with the Baltimore Ravens , who the Cowboys will play internationally in Brazil, and moving on to the Cardinals is much more than just a bird to bird transition (leaving the Seahawks and Eagles still waiting). It is also another matchup where second-year Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer will be pitted against a 2026 first-year head coach, like Jesse Minter for Baltimore. That coach will be Mike LaFleur, looking to continue the Cardinals’ strong recent success against the Cowboys. The Cardinals have a franchise-long 36-56-1 record against the Cowboys, but they have won four straight in this series dating back to 2020 and eight of nine going farther back to 2008. The last Cowboys win against the Cardinals was week three of 2017 in Arizona, meaning they’ll be looking for their first win against them in Arlington since a 2005 game featuring Drew Bledsoe versus Josh McCown at quarterback. Getting a shot at the Cardinals for a second year in a row after the 2025 defense was embarrassed by Jacoby Brissett in a week nine Monday Night Football meeting will be an important measuring stick for Christian Parker’s defense. This new defense will have to have answers to old faces in the Cardinals lineup like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Trey McBride who both caught touchdowns from Brissett in this game last year, but also third overall pick Jeremiyah Love at running back. What the Cowboys can prove against the Cardinals in 2026, runs much deeper than just a tightened up defense though. As ridiculous as it feels to say about playing against a team that just picked in the top five for the second time in three years, ending the losing streak to the Cardinals will also be a test of the culture Schottenheimer has put in place. They will be a team desperate to show they have the competitive edge to match the raw talent on the roster against a team where talented rosters have gone to waste countless times in recent history. Let’s take a closer look at the Cardinals team that will be making the trip to Jerryworld for the second time in as many seasons, the first instance of this happening for the Cardinals playing at the Cowboys since 2000-01, when both teams were in the NFC East. * SIGNED IN FREE AGENCY RB Tyler Allgeier DT Andrew Billings WR Kendrick Bourne WR Devin Duvernay QB Gardner Minshew SAF Andrew Wingard OL Isaac Seumalo OL Matt Pryor OL Elijah Wilkinson * DEPARTED IN FREE AGENCY SAF Jalen Thompson (Cowboys) QB Kyler Murray DL Dalvin Tomlinson DL Calais Campbell WR Greg Dortch The Cardinals are in the midst of a serious offensive line rebuild, paired with yet another quarterback change with Kyler Murray now in Minnesota . Seumalo, Pryor, and Wilkinson all project as potential new starters brought in to join second-round pick Chase Bisontis and form the line the Cardinals can build around Jeremiyah Love at running back. The Cardinals drew a lot of skepticism for using this third overall pick on Love, but won’t have to look any further than Cowboys fans when it comes to underestimating the immediate impact a dynamic back behind a talented offensive line can make. The Cardinals also adding an experienced back like Allgeier to pair with Love, while also having James Conner , Trey Benson , and Bam Knight still rostered, gives them an impressive amount of options and versatility out of the backfield. In the secondary, the Cardinals maintained depth with Will Johnson , Budda Baker , and Sean Murphy-Bunting, but will play against their former safety Jalen Thompson now with the Cowboys when they come to AT&T Stadium. Having an answer at quarterback has to be part of this equation for Arizona though, and right now their depth chart at the most important position in the game is unclear. Brissett is still in place after starting 12 games last season, Minshew is another veteran option with starting experien [... truncated ...]
Now that the Arizona Cardinals have picked their draft choices, and for the most part, signed all the available free agents they need, it is time to start putting the right schemes in place, and getting ready for the June Rookie Readiness Program and then July’s training camp. The roster is ready to be groomed and molded into newly-minted head coach Mike LaFleur’s vision. RELATED: CARDINALS UNDERDOGS IN EVERY SINGLE GAME But there are questions. Actually, quite a few. Here are three of the most important issues. Think about this for a second. Before LaFleur accepted the head coaching gig with the Cardinals, he had to have looked at the roster up and down, sideways, slantways, backways, longways, and frontways like a Wonkavator. And the entire time LaFleur was considering the Cardinals as a possible next stop, the franchise owned the third overall pick in the NFL Draft. LaFleur was advised on the status of both James Conner and Trey Benson as the team’s starting running backs, and that they expected both back before training camp began. And yet, Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame became the target instead of a stud defender or a select offensive lineman. This means that LaFleur had in mind to take Love as he was signing his deal to become the next head coach of the Cardinals. He had Conner and Benson in the palm of his hand, and yet salivated for an elite running back to develop into his new offensive scheme. This will be the ongoing battle throughout training camp. Three names will be penciled in continuously each week, depending upon production. The good news is that the two who aren’t starting will become quality depth pieces. Adams was selected in Round 3 of the 2024 NFL draft out of Illinois. He was drafted specifically to become the starter at one of the guard spots at some point. That just so happened to be last year, especially after a really good training camp. But Adams had issues early in the season and then struggled. He ended up with five starts but played in 15 games. His Pro Football Focus grade was a 56.7 at season’s end, which ranked him #56 out of 81 qualified offensive guards. His weakness in run blocking became an issue and needs further development. He also had seven penalties. As a new guy brought in during free agency, Pryor has excellent versatility in that he can play both guards, plus either tackle spot. During his tenure in Philadelphia , he played right tackle, right guard, and left tackle. In college, he played 21 games at right guard, so he has plenty of experience at the position. His Pro Football Focus grade for this past season was a nice 71.6. He had a single penalty, allowed three sacks, and four pressures, and played every offensive line position except for center. Make no mistake, this is a very large man. He has long arms with a massive frame. Being that big, he does need time to navigate his defenders, which is why he is best suited for guard, where he doesn’t have to worry about fast first steps. One of the best guard prospects in this year’s draft, Bisontis was ranked the third-best offensive guard. Excellent pass blocker with good footspeed for such a big man. Heavy hands and will remain active and attentive to his defender. Effective at pulling with a low center of gravity. His rookie status shouldn’t keep him from proving he is capable of holding down the starting job. The Cardinals signed EDGE rusher Josh Sweat away from the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2024 free agency period, and installed him on the rightside. In his one season with Arizona, he had 17 starts with 17 QB hits, 13 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 30 total tackles, 2 batted passes, 7 knockdowns, 9 hurries, and 28 pressures. In other words, he earned his keep. At just 265 pounds, he is light enough to be quick with 4.53 speed, and stout enough to take on an offensive tackle. His numbers proved he is an asset with the pass rush. The 12 sacks alone are a testament to his ability to disrupt havoc [... truncated ...]
Amid a near-total teardown and early-stage rebuild of their roster this offseason, the Dolphins ensured at least one of their cornerstones isn't going anywhere by agreeing to a four-year, $64 million extension with De'Von Achane last week, per CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones . It was a "put your money where your mouth is" situation. The Dolphins had already traded away both Jaylen Waddle ( Broncos ) and Minkah Fitzpatrick ( Jets ) by the time new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan said unequivocally last month Achane wasn't available for trade . Now, Achane has one of the largest contracts at his position. De'Von Achane Extension RB Rank Behind ... Total value $64M 1st N/A Average annual value $16M 3rd Saquon Barkley , Christian McCaffrey Guaranteed money $32M 4th Jeremiyah Love , Barkley, Ashton Jeanty The electrifying 24-year-old registered 1,838 yards from scrimmage last year, sixth in the NFL . His 5.7 yards per carry and 13.4% explosive rush rate were both highest in the league, too. Despite standing just 5-foot-9 and weighing just 191 pounds, Achane played in 16 games last year and recorded a career-high 304 touches, including a team-high 67 catches. The year before, he played in all 17 games and had 281 touches, including 78 catches, showing he's much more than the position name "running back" suggests. He's not alone in that designation, even in his own draft. The 2023 class as a whole, like all classes, had notable busts and notable hits, like Achane, who was a third-round selection. But the running back crop has been excellent, with first-rounders Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs ascending to superstar status, Achane on the precipice and fifth-rounder Chase Brown coming off his best season. Achane's extension brings the focus squarely on what Robinson and Gibbs could fetch this offseason. Because they were first-round picks, they have a fifth-year option on the contract, and the Falcons and Lions , respectively, exercised those options . ESPN's Adam Schefter has said that a Robinson extension should be coming this offseason. Two stars of Robinson's caliber in the 2023 draft class -- Will Anderson Jr . ( Texans ) and Jaxon Smith-Njigba ( Seahawks ) have gotten record-setting extensions already, in fact. Things are a bit more complicated in Gibbs' situation given the team's tight finances , ESPN's Eric Woodyard wrote in February. Gibbs is tied to Detroit for the next two seasons, but a second contract might not come this offseason. After all, the Lions decided against exercising All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell's fifth-year option due to the looming cap realities. The counting numbers make it easy to see why the Falcons and Lions would want to keep Robinson and Gibbs, respectively. NFL ranks -- last 2 seasons Robinson Gibbs Yards from scrimmage 1st 3rd Touchdowns scored 8th 1st Plays of 10+ yards (among RBs) 1st 2nd That last line is crucial. In recent years, NFL defenses have focused on taking away big plays downfield. That makes players who can turn a short gain into a big one even more valuable. Robinson and Gibbs fit that description to a T. Over the past two years, Robinson has 202 tackles avoided, by far the most in the NFL. Gibbs is second with 162. Only one other player, Kenneth Walker III (who, not coincidentally, also got a nice pay day this offseason), is over 150. It's not just volume, either. Gibbs is tied with Achane for the highest explosive play rate in the NFL over the last two seasons; Robinson is ninth. Age is also on their sides. Robinson and Gibbs are both 24, and neither turns 25 until after the upcoming season. The NFL is obsessed with every data point, and especially age when it comes to running backs. Other top-paid running backs, such as Barkley, McCaffrey and Derrick Henry , were older when they signed their most recent contracts. This offseason, Achane and Breece Hall both got significant extensions in which their age was an advantage. Robinson seems more li [... truncated ...]

Unfortunately, very little went the team’s way last year and, after starting 2-0, they finished 3-14, ending the year on a torturous nine-game losing streak. Yet, what that tawdry record doesn’t indicate is that a whopping games were lost by seven points or less. Had they just gotten the job done, Kyler Murray and head coach Jonathan Gannon may have stuck around. Sadly, that wasn’t in the…ummm…cards. Instead, this year, Mike LaFleur inherits head coaching duties and Jacoby Brissett — who started 14 games in ’25 and went 1-11 — returns. To add insult to injury, the squad has the third-toughest schedule of any team in the NFL. Notable opponents dropping into Glendale, Ariz.’s State Farm Stadium this year include Jared Goff ’s Detroit Lions (Oct. 11), Bo Nix ’s Denver Broncos (Oct. 25), Matthew Stafford ’s Los Angeles Rams (Nov. 15), Jalen Hurts ’ Philadelphia Eagles (Dec. 6) and Brock Purdy ’s San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 9 or 10 in the final game of the regular season. Plus, Sam Darnold ’s defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will be swinging in too on Sunday, Sept. 20 aka the Cards’ home opener. Thankfully, Brissett and the Cardinals got a bit of insurance in standout rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, as well as draft picks Chase Bisontis, Carson Beck and Kaleb Proctor. Offseason acquisitions Devin Duvernay , Isaac Seumalo , Tyler Allgeier , Kendrick Bourne and quarterback insurance Gardner Minshew join them. Franchise tight end Trey McBride , 2025 star signee Josh Sweat , starting wideout Michael Wilson , elite safety Budda Baker and offensive line anchor Paris Johnson Jr. return, too. The full 2026 NFL schedule was released Thursday . Here is how the Giants schedule shapes up: This is a good one to get out of the way early. Traveling cross-country is rarely conducive to peak performance and the Giants will need everything they’ve got against Matthew Stafford and a Rams team that is a bona fide Super Bowl contender. Get texts from Paul Schwartz with all the latest Giants news and insights, exclusive to Sports+ subscribers. tRY IT NOW Jaxson Dart is 1-1 vs. the Eagles and that is encouraging, but he is 0-1 at Lincoln Financial Field, which means he is part of a club every Giants player would like to quit. The Linc is the worst of places for the Giants, who will lug a 13-game losing streak in Philly into this matchup. Traveling out to the Pacific Northwest to face the Super Bowl champions is not anyone’s idea of a good time. Lumen Field is always a cauldron of noise and intimidation and in mid-December the weather conditions might be equally uninviting. The Giants get to reconnect with two of their former players, Julian Love and Leonard Williams , who will be able to show off their Super Bowl rings, if they wish. The Titans were 3-14 last season, so this home game should be a good spot for the Giants. But be forewarned: Brian Daboll was dismissed 10 games into the 2025 season and he was heartbroken about not being able to continue developing Jaxson Dart. You know Daboll, as the Titans offensive coordinator, will want to put many points on the scoreboard against his former team. The very next week, another 3-14 team visits MetLife Stadium. The Giants had running back Jeremiyah Love as a top-five player on their draft board; the Cardinals took him at No. 3. Now the Giants must devise a defense to stop him and they were 31st in the league last season against the run. Who will be playing quarterback for the Browns this late in the season. Deshaun Watson ? Shedeur Sanders ? Garbiel Dillon? Tim Couch? This is the last game for the Giants against a perceived weak opponent, so they need to make it count. They say you always remember your first, right? This is John Harbaugh’s debut as the Giants head coach and it comes in a nationally televised “Sunday Night Football’’ showcase against a despised division rival. Lights, camera, action! This should be the first time quarterback Daniel Jones gets to play against his former team. Jones is coming off surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon but this late in November, he figures to be fully recovered. Lest we forget, the Colts were 8-4 last season before Jones went down. He won’t admit to wanting to stick it to his former team but this will be personal for him. For the second consecutive year, the Giants play in Detroit . Last season’s visit to Ford Field was a wild affair, won by the Lions 34-27 as Jahmyr Gibbs ran 69 yards for a touchdown on the first play in overtime. The Giants blew yet another 10-point lead and afterwards, interim head coach Mike Kafka fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. The Giants get a Week 8 bye, seven games into the season, not quite at the halfway point. Most coaches prefer the timing for the break a week or two later than this. There will be 10 games after this respite. The players are advised to get their rest, as they come out of their bye with a game in Philadelphia against the rival Eagles and then, four days later, face the Commanders on Thursday Night Football. The Giants have four primetime games (two on Monday night, one apiece on Sunday and Thursday night) and those spotlights have to be the Harbaugh Effect, plus the groundswell of optimism about Jaxson Dart. The first two games are rough but then there is a workable four-game stretch and this is where the Giants must stack wins together. Ending with the Cowboys and Eagles could be NFC East-defining. The schedule makers did a good job adhering to co-owner John Mara’s annual request to avoid scheduling home games on the Jewish High Holy days. The Week 1 game at Me [... truncated ...]
The NFL will continue its tradition of playing a game on Black Friday for the fourth consecutive season, offering an additional standalone game following the Thanksgiving Day triple-header. This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Denver Broncos. The article also lists several potential draft picks for various teams, including QB Fernando Mendoza for the Las Vegas Raiders and OLB/DE David Bailey for the New York Jets
We finally have the New York Giants 2026 schedule in hand. The Giants’ schedule is 16th in terms of strength of schedule, with a collective 0.498 winning percentage in 2025. The Giants have four prime time games this year, a vote of confidence from the NFL in their roster and new coaching staff. The Giants also have a conveniently placed Week 8 bye, as well as Week 10 mini-bye to rest up before a tough gauntlet to end the year. The question, of course, is how many wins will the Giants rack up? Las Vegas set the Giants’ over/under at 7.5 wins ( per FanDuel ), so can they beat that number? Both of these teams have a bunch of moving parts. The Cowboys have completely revamped their defense and will be installing a new scheme under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker. The Giants have new schemes and players on both sides of the ball, but also a core of familiarity among the players and experienced coaches who know how to win. The Giants get traction earlier in the year and come open the season with a win. Pick – Giants (1-0) The Giants get (arguably) the best team in the NFL in their second consecutive primetime game. I’m expecting the G-Men to give the Rams all they can handle, and new DBs coach Donald D’Alesio could give some insight into CBs Trent McDuffy and Jaylen Watson . However, the Giants can’t quite keep pace with Matt Stafford and the rest of the Rams’ offense. Pick – Rams (1-1) The Titans catch the Giants on a short week made shorter by the late flight back from LA. The question is how much that will benefit them, and how well a completely rebuilt Titans squad gels by Week 3. I’m expecting this to be a tough game, and for Brian Daboll to help Robert Saleh scheme for Jaxson Dart, but the Giants rebound from Week 2 to outlast the Titans. Pick – Giants (2-1) Two questions: Who’s playing quarterback for the Cardinals, and can the Giants stop Jeremiyah Love from taking over the game? Defending Love should be much easier than Sean McVay’s running schemes, particularly without a QB like Matt Stafford to worry about. Pick – Giants (3-1) One question: Will Jayden Daniels be healthy? That really is THE question for this game, and I think we have to assume that he will be. Scary Terry might finally start to slow down this year, but the duo of Luke McCaffrey and Antonio Williams (2026 3rd, Clemson) could pick up the slack. I would also expect the Dan Quinn to have his rebuilt defense playing well by this point Pick – Washington (3-2) This is a low-key fascinating game based on the contrast in how the Saints and Giants have been discussed this off-season. The Saints have been lauded for how they’ve moved to support QB Tyler Shough with the selections of Jordyn Tyson and Bryce Lance. Dart, meanwhile, is being treated like a veteran quarterback who’s presence allows the team to invest elsewhere. The Saints could have one of the best offenses in the NFL this year, but this game looks different in the Meadowlands than if it was down in New Orleans . Pick – Giants (4-2) This game will likely pivot on which version of C.J. Stroud shows up. He turned into a pumpkin during the playoffs, but we can’t forget just how good his best is. The Giants have a chance if Bad C.J. shows up, but I’ll count this as a win if the Giants can put up a fight against what is probably the best-coached and most talented defense in the NFL. Pick – Texans (4-3) Pick – Nap, maybe go out to catch a game. (4-3) Can the Giants beat the Eagles in Philly? It’s definitely possible and will come down to how their offensive line plays with Stoutland U closed up. The Eagles could (will?) also be without A.J. Brown and his impact on defensive structure. Makai Lemon could be a real threat, but he doesn’t have the size or speed of Brown, and that could make running the ball much tougher. It’s also worth noting that John Harbaugh is 5-0 coming off of bye weeks over the last five seasons and he’s been stressing that the Giants are building to beat the E [... truncated ...]
The 2026 NFL regular season is finally here. Now we can talk about it. Sure, the next few hours will be dominated by breakdowns of all the schedule release videos put together by the various teams, but let’s look ahead to the first week of the season. What games should you watch, and what games are you not even putting on the quadbox? This will be a game of NFL football. Yes, there is the Robert Saleh revenge factor, but even that does not move the needle too much. This could be Kirk Cousins versus Malik Willis . Or it could be Fernando Mendoza versus Malik Willis. Either way, this is a game to keep tabs on using your phone. Tua Tagovailoa versus Aaron Rodgers ? Michael Penix Jr . versus Drew Allar ? Yeah, we’re just not sure this should be high on your list of priorities in Week 1. Who asked for this, besides perhaps Seattle fans? We … just saw this game. It did not go well. After crossing the 50-yard line on their opening possession, the Patriots did not see Seahawks’ territory until their first drive of the fourth quarter. The highlight of the night was, unless you are a Seahawks fan, Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. Sure, having a non-conference game in this slot makes sense, for playoff tiebreakers and things like that. But, we just saw this game and we’re not sure anyone wants to see it again anytime soon. Particularly on opening night. It will be fun to see Jeremiyah Love’s debut, but this could turn ugly quickly. NFC East games in primetime slots will continue until morale improves. Yes, this is John Harbaugh’s first game with the Giants, and yes since it is an island game we know you will be watching. But on a list like this, we do not feel compelled to bump this game up much higher. The Bengals have hopes of a return to the postseason, provided they can get a year of completely healthy. The Buccaneers are hoping to bounce back after a collapse in the second half of 2025. Still, we’re in something of “wait and see” mode when it comes to both teams. Given the rest of the early Sunday slate, there are some games on the schedule we are more excited about. We are putting this game right in the middle for one simple reason. We do not know who will be under center for each team. Both Patrick Mahomes and Bo Nix are coming back from injuries suffered late in the season. If both starting quarterback are back for Week 1, then this game easily moves up this list. But if we are talking about a Justin Fields versus Jarrett Stidham matchup, then this game could just as easily slide down this list. So it stays in the middle for now. Check with us in August. We absolutely loved what the Browns did in the draft. We were not fans of what the Jaguars did. But that is why they play the games, right? Honestly, the reason this game is so high is this: Sonny Styles . The dynamic linebacker making his debut against Jalen Hurts and this offense? That is going to be a blast to watch. Add in the return of Jayden Daniels , and the fact that this game is in the late afternoon Sunday slate (against games such as Cardinals at Chargers and Dolphins at Raiders) and you have a game you’ll want to be watching. The Saints could be a sneaky good team this year, and we look at Detroit as one of the teams that missed the playoffs in 2025 yet should make a return to the postseason in 2026. Because of that, this is a game we’re going to be keeping an eye on. This game is an exciting, early-season test for both teams. Will Daniel Jones be back, allowing the Colts to return to what they showed during the first half of 2026? How will the Ravens fare in new head coach Jesse Minter’s debut? A Week 1 tonesetter for two teams with playoff aspirations. Who will be under center for Minnesota when this game kicks off? The folks at Startnine.win have a thought. But beyond J.J. McCarthy versus Kyler Murray , the bigger question here is Jordan Love versus Brian Flores. How Love and the Green Bay offense handle what Flores throws at them w [... truncated ...]
Here, we’ll go over eight early fantasy football average draft positions (ADP) I’m planning to track over the summer, as they raise an eyebrow one way or the other. I’m not ready to say these guys are overvalued or undervalued with certainty just yet, but they are players we should track and debate heavily over the next couple of months to iron out those takes. Note: All ADP data comes from the FantasyPros half-PPR consensus as of this publication. The harsh reality is that it’s going to be tough for Trey McBride to repeat as the TE1 overall, and therefore, make good on a top-15 overall ADP. McBride ran 694 routes last season, over 60 more than any other wide receiver — his teammate Michael Wilson was second with 630. Even more shocking, it was over 120 more than the next-highest tight end, Travis Kelce, with 573. It would be a massive disappointment if Arizona, which was in a severe negative game script and was relentlessly dropping back to pass for well over half of the 2025 season, repeats those numbers. Not to mention, if Marvin Harrison Jr. is healthy this season after missing chunks of time and playing through the back-half of the season with a heel injury, targets won’t be consolidated between just McBride and Wilson. Arizona also added a special receiving back in Jeremiyah Love. Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season The squeeze for targets and more competition won’t doom McBride’s production. He’s too good for that. But it will carve into his fantasy ceiling. Brock Bowers should be ranked as the TE1 ahead of McBride and even then, 15th overall might be a bit too rich for him, too. Collins was WR10 last year in points per game and generally kept pace with some of the non-elite WR1s from a scoring standpoint. His role as the X-receiver in Houston’s offense does make him a bit more boom or bust on a weekly basis than some can deal with but I have some hopes (based on their Year 2 receivers breaking into the full-time rotation) that he can move around more in 2026. My guess is that the last memory we have of C.J. Stroud is unfairly pushing down perceptions of the Texans offense, which has its frustrations regardless. Stroud was sandwiched between Patrick Mahomes and Sam Darnold in EPA per play among starting quarterbacks last year during the regular season. That’s a guy who is good enough to feed a WR1 the ball, at the very least. You can make a credible argument that Collins is just as good a or better bet as WRs Malik Nabers (17th overall), Rashee Rice (23rd), Drake London (24th) or George Pickens (26th). It feels like a massive leap for Hampton to be this high in the running back rankings but it does make some sense. He was productive in a limited sample, finishing the season as the RB15 in points per game over nine contests. Hampton was also playing really well right before he went down with an injury. The Year 2 jump is very available to him and he is pretty uncontested as the clear lead back in Los Angeles. The Chargers hired Mike McDaniel as their offensive coordinator and he’s well-known for his prowess as a run-game designer. There’s also a strong argument that Hampton fits an outside zone run game, which McDaniel should employ, better than the gap-based design of Greg Roman’s desires. There’s no doubt Tetairoa McMillan was extremely productive relative to his environment in his first NFL season, where he ended up winning Offensive Rookie of the Year and clearing 1,000 yards receiving. I’m also a firm believer that McMillan could be more consistently productive if he’s moved around the formation more often and takes fewer reps as the X-receiver. We saw the fruits of that theory in his massive Week 11 game against the Falcons, where he caught three passes for 31 yards and a score from the slot. He averaged 2.0 yards per route run from the slot as a rookie. The Panthers' drafting Chris Brazzell as a boundary stretch receiver should allow the rookie to take some sacrificial [... truncated ...]
Fit often matters as much as talent to success in the NFL . That's especially true for rookies, as it's the shortest offseason they'll ever have at any level of football to get up to speed. Landing in a spot that gives them a clear path to the field and plays to their strengths is a big factor in their immediate impact. The All-Rookie team isn't a formal award like All-Pros or Pro Bowlers. The PFWA has done its own since 1974, but its positional designations are incredibly dated, with two running backs and three linebackers included. Let's use modern positional designations and predict who will have the most productive seasons among this year's rookie class based on their talent, NFL readiness and opportunity to produce. This is the easiest one on the entire list. Fernando Mendoza could easily be the only rookie quarterback who starts this season. The 13th overall pick, Ty Simpson, will only play for the Rams if Matthew Stafford goes down, and third-rounders Carson Beck and Drew Allar were third-rounders for a reason. If Mendoza doesn't start Week 1, he should by Week 5 at the latest, and he'll have one of the best play-callers in the NFL in Klint Kubiak. It's either Jeremiyah Love or his former Notre Dame teammate Jadarian Price here. Anyone else would be a long shot in a historically weak running back class with only one other top-100 pick (Kaelon Black), and he backs up Christian McCaffrey. Love lands with coach Mike LaFleur, who, as offensive coordinator for the Jets , had Breece Hall averaging 5.8 yards per carry as a rookie before tearing his ACL midseason. Carnell Tate is an obvious selection. He walks into a spot where he's the unquestioned No. 1 receiver option for Cam Ward, filling the role the Titans missed dearly last year. KC Concepcion is a little less obvious, as he doesn't exactly have a high-volume passing offense to put up big numbers. What he does have, however, is a clear-cut path to targets and an NFL-ready game. Concepcion finished as the No. 1 wide receiver on my draft board because of his ability to separate against man coverage, which should translate immediately in the NFL. Antonio Williams is one of the most experienced slot receivers in the draft class, with nearly 1,000 routes run from that spot in his collegiate career. He'll fit seamlessly into the Commanders ' offense, which lost leading receiver Deebo Samuel, who operated primarily from the slot. Williams has an obvious path to a hefty target load with Jayden Daniels hopefully healthy all season. There wasn't a clean landing spot for any of the top tight ends this year. None of the nine taken in the top 100 went to a team where they'll be the unquestioned No. 1 at the position. Kenyon Sadiq , at minimum, will garner schemed targets because of his ability after the catch. He should easily usurp last year's second-rounder, Mason Taylor, for targets in the Jets' offense. Spencer Fano had the cleanest tape of any offensive lineman in the draft and will be the clear-cut starter at left tackle for the Browns next season. Blake Miller is the only other tackle in the draft with no roadblocks to a starting role, so he's the choice here by default. Monroe Freeling, Max Iheanachor and Caleb Lomu all look destined to take redshirt years with the Panthers , Steelers and Patriots, respectively. There were three top-15 picks who will start at guard as rookies, meaning Francis Mauigoa is the odd man out here. I believe Olaivavega Ioane's experience at guard will make his transition easier, while Kadyn Proctor's biggest weakness -- his foot speed -- gets mitigated by moving inside. While Keylan Rutledge technically never played center in 3,019 career snaps in college, this looks like his most likely position based on the contracts Houston gave out this offseason. As the second-ranked true interior offensive lineman on my board, Rutledge playing a new position shouldn't worry Texans fans much. The common thread here is their work in the run game, wh [... truncated ...]
Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love secured the largest full guarantee of any RB in NFL history, but the deal is attributed to his status as the third overall draft pick rather than his position. This contract structure is standard for high draft picks, regardless of position, and its terms will not influence future running back market negotiations. His next contract will be more indicative of the running back market
Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate, the fourth overall pick in the 2026 draft, has agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract, which is fully guaranteed and valued at over $51 million. Tate's deal, which includes a $33.6 million signing bonus, was negotiated quickly, following a trend of early rookie contract signings
The Arizona Cardinals have signed first-round running back Jeremiyah Love to a four-year, $53 million guaranteed contract. Love, who excelled at Notre Dame, is expected to immediately take on a major role in the Cardinals' offense
