It’s been an eventful two years for former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett. After the Steelers went 3-0 down the stretch to close the 2023 season under Mason Rudolph , clinching a playoff berth in the process, the writing appeared to be on the wall for the University of Pittsburgh product. The Steelers signed Russell Wilson on the first day of the 2024 league year, which led to Pickett requesting a trade. Pittsburgh sent him to Philadelphia , and he was the backup quarterback to Jalen Hurts when the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. In the 2025 offseason, Pickett was traded once again, as he was dealt to the Cleveland Browns for a fourth-round pick. According to Pickett’s former college coach, Pat Narduzzi, the trade away from Philadelphia is a move that Pickett wanted very badly. “The Eagles did not want to trade him,” Narduzzi said on 99.9 The Fan . “He begged to be traded because he wanted to compete, and he felt like he wasn’t going to have a chance to beat out Jalen Hurts.” Pickett competed throughout the spring and summer of 2025 to be the Browns’ starter alongside Joe Flacco , Dillon Gabriel , and Shedeur Sanders . When it was made clear Flacco would be the starter, the Browns traded Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders . He now finds himself with the Carolina Panthers after signing as a free agent. Former Steelers safety Ryan Clark releases statement following ESPN firing
ESPN is going through yet another round of layoffs, as reported by Andrew Marchand of The Athletic. Notable names such as veteran NFL insider Tom Pelissero, former NFL MVP Cam Newton , and former Baseball Tonight host Karl Ravech were all let go by the worldwide leader. Perhaps the biggest name in terms of the network’s programming to be laid off, though, was former Steelers safety Ryan Clark. Clark had been a staple of the network for the last half-decade, serving as one of the mainstays for the Emmy-Award winning NFL Live. It was reported that Clark was informed of the decision while he was still on air . The Super Bowl champion took to X to release a statement of solidarity with his now former colleagues who were also let go by the network. “Sending prayers and love to all those laid off today by ESPN,” Clark writes . “So many of you have poured your life into that company, & I know how you’re feeling right now. My hope is as this door closes another opens for you all. God bless!” Where Clark goes next is anyone’s guess, but he will be a very hot commodity from all major sports networks. Aaron Rodgers reunites with family in recent Instagram post
Las week, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took to Instagram to post photos from a retreat he led with several teammates. DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman, Pat Freiermuth, Ben Skowronek, Mason Rudolph, and Roman Wilson went on a trip to Wyoming, per one of the photos being taken at Jackson Hole. Now, Rodgers has given everyone a rare glimpse into his personal life. On Monday evening, the Steelers' quarterback posted photos with his mother Darla, father Ed, and brother Luke with the caption, "Another bonding week." Rodgers was infamously estranged from his family for north of a decade, as it was revealed by his brother Jordan that the Super Bowl-winning quarterback didn't speak to the rest of the family in 2016 while Jordan was competing on The Bachelorette. "It's just the way he's chosen to do life," Jordan said . "I chose to stay close with my family and my parents and my brother [Luke]." Former Steelers star Le'Veon Bell arrested in Ohio on warrant tied to child support case
Police arrested former NFL running back Le'Veon Bell Sunday in Ohio. The former NFL All-Pro was nabbed as a "courtesy hold for another agency," according to records from the Stark County Sheriff's Department . The 34-year-old had a warrant out for his arrest in Michigan, which is why he was taken into custody, according to the Canton Repository . The warrant was issued after Bell fell behind on child support payments. Bell was in Ohio on Sunday to take part in a meet-and-greet at a mall in Canton, and the arrest went down at some point shortly after the event. Bell's lawyer, Thomas Shaffer, told the Repository that the running back has had trouble keeping up with his child support payments because the amount owed is based on what he earned on the field during his NFL career. "Six months ago, he cashed in an NFL pension to pay $50,000 in child support for that child. His guidelines are still inaccurately being deemed based on his NFL salary and his professional boxing career," Shaffer told the Repository. "This is a revolving door because he pays a number that doesn't reflect his true income. The issue will never end. The court needs to reflect his true income." The Michigan Attorney General's Office got involved because of the amount of money owed in the case, which led to the warrant. Bell spent eight years in the NFL, but he hasn't played since 2021. At the peak of his career, Bell was one of the best running backs in the NFL. After being selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2013 draft, his career took off almost instantly. In the four-season period from 2014 through 2017, Bell was voted to three Pro Bowls (2014, 2016-17) and he was named a first-team All-Pro twice (2014, 2016). Bell topped 1,200 yards rushing in three of those four seasons and ended his career as the fourth all-time leading rusher in Steelers' history. In 2014, Bell totaled 2,215 all-purpose yards, which still stands as a franchise record. He also holds the franchise record for most receptions by a running back in a single season (85 in 2017) and the most receiving yards by a running back in a single season (854 in 2014). Over the course of his career, Bell earned $44.8 million on the field, according to Over the Cap . That number could have been substantially higher, but Bell infamously decided to sit out the entire 2018 season because he didn't want to play on the franchise tag for the second straight year after being tagged in 2017. By sitting out the season, Bell missed out on $14.5 million in salary. The decision didn't just cost him millions; it also ended his five-year run in Pittsburgh. Bell did end up playing for four teams over the final three seasons of his career ( Jets , Ravens , Chiefs , Buccaneers ), but he was never the same player. Since leaving the NFL, Bell has dabbled in both the music industry and boxing, which included a 2022 knockout win over Adrian Peterson . Bell's specific charges were not listed on his record, which states the arrest was "courtesy hold for another agency." Bell was reportedly arrested due to a warrant out of Michigan, according to CantonRep.com. That would explain the "hold" note on Bell's arrest record. Bell allegedly owes over $50,000 in child support , per TMZ. Bell does have ties to Michigan. He starred at Michigan State before being selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers. After a solid rookie season, Bell emerged as one of the best running backs in the game. Between 2014 and 2017, Bell averaged 1,119 rushing yards and 565.3 receiving yards per season. He made three Pro Bowls and was selected to two All-Pro teams during that period. Ahead of the 2018 NFL season, however, Bell got into a contract dispute with the Steelers, leading to the running back sitting out the entire season. He returned the following year after signing a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the New York Jets . He was never the same player after returning to action. Bell rushed for just 789 yards in his first year in New York. The following year, he continued to struggle, eventually leading to his release. Bell then bounced around the league for the next season and a half, spending limited time with the Kansas City Chiefs , Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he was out of the league following the 2021 NFL season

Bell was arrested July 19 by the Jackson Township Police Department. He had appeared earlier that day at a Belden Village Mall in Jackson Township for a meet-and-greet event . The 34-year-old is being jailed on a "courtesy hold for another agency," according to an entry on the Stark County Sheriff's Office app's listing inmates. Bell was arrested on a warrant out of Michigan, per Stark County documents. Details of the warrant are not presently known. Bell played eight NFL seasons after being a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers .
