The Packers are signing free agent quarterback Cam Miller to the practice squad, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports. The Dolphins waived him Aug. 30, and he remained a free agent until Monday. The Packers have Jordan Love and Tyrod Taylor on the active roster. They still list Kedon Slovis on the practice squad. The Raiders made Miller a sixth-round pick in 2025, and the Dolphins signed him off of Las Vegas’ practice squad late last season. Miller, 25, has never appeared in a regular-season game
The Cardinals reached 53 players on Sunday afternoon. Their moves included placing running back James Conner on injured reserve with a designation to return. He will miss at least the first four games before returning to game action as he works his way back from last season’s ankle injury. The Cardinals are waiving quarterback Kedon Slovis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports. Slovis, 25, signed with the Cardinals’ practice squad in August before the team signed him to the active roster on Oct. 11. He played two games, getting five snaps and completing 1 of 2 passes for minus-1 yard. His departure is not a surprise, leaving Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew II and Carson Beck at the position. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Gardner Minshew II went 19-for-23 for 177 yards with one interception in Saturday's preseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys. With Jacoby Brissett resting and Carson Beck (ribs) still recovering from a hard shot taken in the Hall of Fame Game on August 6, Minshew operated as the team's signal-caller until K Slovis took over late in the third quarter. Minshew threw an interception on Arizona's first possession but settled in after that, keeping his stat sheet clean by focusing on short-yardage targets. Minshew had a passing touchdown negated by an offensive pass interference flag on the receiver, tight end Rivaldo Fairweather. He was later robbed of a rushing touchdown due to a false start call. The journeyman backup sits second on Arizona's depth chart and will not be relevant for fantasy unless Brissett suffers an injury. Minshew's final chance for a tuneup will come on August 28, when the Cardinals face the Packers in their preseason finale
At times with rib injuries, a minor issue can quickly become major after further examination and tests. But that does not appear to be the case with Arizona’s Carson Beck. Per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, the Cardinals have “ zero long-term worry ” about Beck’s rib injury. Weinfuss reports Beck suffered the injury on a 4-yard run on third-and-3 in the first quarter. Beck was able to keep playing after securing the first down. He finished that contest 15-of-19 passing for 188 yards with a touchdown. While Beck has been able to practice all week, the Cardinals will not play him in tonight’s game against the Raiders. Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals starters are set to be on the field. Carson Beck impressed in his preseason debut during last week’s Hall of Fame Game. But his next time on the field will have to wait. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Beck will not play in tonight’s matchup against the Raiders after suffering a rib injury last Thursday night. Beck was able to practice all week through soreness from the injury, which is not considered serious. But the team has elected to keep him out of tonight’s game as a precaution. Haynes King wasn’t drafted despite being the ACC Player of the Year last season. The Panthers signed the former Georgia Tech star quarterback as a free agent, and he showed Thursday night maybe someone should have drafted him. Third on the team’s depth chart, King replaced veteran Kenny Pickett with 9:38 remaining in the first half and the Panthers trailing 14-7. King completed 21 of 34 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns, a 15-yarder and a 5-yarder. He also ran for 39 yards on three carries, including scoring on a 5-yard jaunt on the final play of the game. It gave the Panthers a 33-30 victory. Carson Beck had “no clue” he was going to start the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game until this week. He was the last to know. As (almost) everyone knows, veteran quarterbacks don’t generally play in the Hall of Fame Game. The third-round rookie is new to this thing, though. “I thought I was going to play, but I had no expectations ,” Beck said Tuesday, via Darren Urban of the team website. “Obviously our schedule has been crazy right now. But I’m looking forward to it.” Coach Mike LaFleur has not publicly addressed playing time for his quarterbacks, but with Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew expected to spend the night on the sideline, Beck likely sees most of the playing time. Fourth-stringer Kedon Slovis also could play. Beck said he hasn’t been nervous for a game since he was 8 years old and playing for his Pop Warner city championship, and that won’t change Thursday night. “It’s a game at the end of the day,” Beck said. “Not really any nerves. More excitement than anything.” Beck, 24, spent six seasons in college and played in the national championship game last season for the University of Miami. So, he should be unfazed playing a preseason game against the Panthers on Thursday. “That’s one of the best things about him, all of his experience,” offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett said. “His age, his understanding that things are going to go good, [and] they are going to go bad. You can never get too excited; you can never get too frustrated.”
Cardinals fans will get their first chance to see rookie quarterback Carson Beck in game action on Thursday night. Head coach Mike LaFleur announced on Tuesday that Beck will get the start against the Panthers in the Hall of Fame Game. LaFleur did not lay out the plan for the rest of the game for the quarterback spot, but it seems unlikely that Jacoby Brissett or Gardner Minshew would get tabbed for any work with the third-round pick starting the game. LaFleur did not hold a press conference on Tuesday, but said on Monday that he thought Beck had his best practice of camp over the weekend. “I thought it was probably the best , and I thought I think our second and third groups have operated a pretty high clip thus far,” LaFleur said, via the team’s website. “Probably the best that they have operated in terms of just you know getting set and going. … They were mimicking the plays that we’re going to run on Thursday night, so that they have a good feel for it.” Kedon Slovis is the fourth quarterback on the roster in Arizona and will likely see playing time after Beck’s night in Canton comes to an end

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett is still in a contract dispute with the Cardinals. But that didn’t stop him from preparing to be the team’s starter this week. Via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Brissett brought several teammates to South Florida this week to work out in preparation for training camp. Brissett posted a picture to social media showing himself, Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins, Kedon Slovis, and Semi Fehoko after a workout. While Brissett did not attend the voluntary portion of the offseason program, he was at the team’s mandatory minicamp last month — though he did not participate in practice. The Cardinals are implementing a new offense under head coach Mike LaFleur, who spent the last three seasons as Rams offensive coordinator. Brissett is currently slated to earn $4.88 million in 2026, with a max value of $5.39 million, but only $1.5 million is guaranteed. LaFleur said earlier in the offseason that he wasn’t concerned with Brissett’s absence from the offseason program, as the quarterback has “ done probably everything we’ve ever done schematically .” Cardinals veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 22
