Thursday Night Football: Deshaun Watson, Browns lead Steelers 21-10 at halftime
Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has gone back to the future tonight, playing his best game since the 2021 season in Houston. Watson threw for 181 yards and a touchdown in the first half, and the Browns took a 21-10 lead over the Steelers into the locker room at halftime. Watson, who is making his 23rd start in his fifth season in Cleveland, completed 14 of 17 passes in the first half. His touchdown pass was a 2-yard throw to tight end Harold Fannin with 1:22 remaining in the first half. Watson now has five touchdown passes and no interceptions since a clunker of a season opener against the Jaguars. After the first two series when they had seven plays and 31 yards, the Browns had scoring drives of 56, 74 and 62 yards. They are 2-for-2 in the red zone. Jaleel McLaughlin scored on a 28-yard run as the Browns converted on cornerback Denzel Ward’s pick of Aaron Rodgers, and Quinshon Judkins had a 2-yard touchdown run. The Browns have outgained the Steelers 222 to 185 yards. The Browns rookie receivers, Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion, have led the way. Boston has three catches for 74 yards and Concepcion four for 58. The Steelers are only 1-of-2 in the red zone, settling for Chris Boswell’s 31-yard field goal with 8 seconds left in the half after reaching the Cleveland 13. Boswell missed a 48-yard try wide left with 5:26 remaining. Rodgers is 12-of-21 for 138 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has had his best two performances of the season in Weeks 2 and 3 in the Browns' wins over the Buccaneers and the Panthers and will hope to carry that into Week 4's game at home against the Steelers. Against Carolina, Watson wasn't very efficient, completing just 16-of-30 passes for 144 yards, but did throw two touchdowns without an interception and added a two-point conversion. At Tampa Bay, Watson had his most efficient game yet this season, completing 24-of-30 passes for 238 yards and two passing touchdowns. Watson found tight end Harold Fannin Jr. twice for touchdowns in the win over Carolina and in the first two contests of the season, he connected with rookie wide receiver Denzel Boston in each of the games. The emergence of the tight end Fannin Jr. will help him add to his receiving corps and broaden his target base. The Pittsburgh Steelers defense is a tough matchup for Watson and the Browns as they are allowing just 192.7 net passing yards per game and have recorded two interceptions on the season. Watson should remain on the outside of start-worthy quarterbacks in fantasy in this matchup

Deshaun Watson: I just wanted to finish the game for the fans
Browns fans booed Deshaun Watson in the second half of a preseason game against the Bills. On Sunday, they cheered him. Watson threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to tight end Harold Fannin Jr. with 1:48 left to lift the Browns to a 21-18 upset of the Panthers. He finished with 144 yards and two touchdowns, along with 45 yards rushing on 11 carries. Winning makes everyone happy. “ It was great . It was amazing. I just wanted to finish the job for them,” Watson said of the fans, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. “There was one moment where I got a little teary-eyed, feeling that energy. I’ve put in so much work to get here, to be in this moment here and to be able to show I can finish these drives, and finish these games to get W’s for this city and this organization. “This is what all the hard work, belief, prayers, everything that I have put myself through the last 22 months. To be able to stand in front of the crowd on that field and to finish the job. I want to keep improving and keep trying to get better each and every day, each week and we have a big one on Thursday [against the Steelers].” After the home fans booed him last month, Watson made it worse by calling it “disrespectful” and “personal.” He apologized a few days later, saying his “emotions got the best of me.” The only way to win them over was to play well and win, and Watson has done both. The Browns are tied for first place with the other three teams in the division at 2-1, and Watson has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 587 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He also has run for 105 yards. He is the first Browns quarterback since Baker Mayfield in Weeks 14 and 15 of 2018 to lead game-winning touchdown drives in the fourth quarter of consecutive games, according to ESPN Research. “We continued to feed off that energy of the crowd, and we wanted to make a special play,” Watson said. “I told the guys in the huddle, ‘Man, just [believe] in me and I’m going to use my legs.’ Whenever that play comes up, make that play, and Harold did.”

After getting their first win last week, the Browns have a halftime lead in their home opener. Quarterback Deshaun Watson connected with tight end Harold Fannin for a 2-yard touchdown late in the second quarter, giving Cleveland a 10-3 lead. The play came on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line, capping a seven-play, 40-yard drive that began after a turnover on downs. In his first game back in Cleveland since injuring his Achilles in 2024, Watson did not get booed as he took the field. He finished the first half 8-of-16 for 60 yards with a TD. He also had six carries for 25 yards. Defensively, the Browns took their lead largely through defense. The club stopped Carolina on each of its first four third down attempts, and had a pair of fourth-down stops. When the Panthers elected to go for it on fourth-and-3 from the Cleveland 43, second-year defensive tackle Mason Graham got in the backfield for a sack and a turnover on downs. Bryce Young came away from the play limping, but stayed in the game after the Fox broadcast showed him trying to walk it off on the sideline. Andre Szmyt hit his 48-yard field goal attempt midway through the second quarter to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead. On the ensuing possession, the Panthers went for it on fourth-and-1 from their own 40-yard line. But Young was pressured and the pass to Tommy Tremble was well short and incomplete for a turnover on downs. Cleveland was able to fully capitalize on the opportunity with Watson’s touchdown pass to Harold Fannin. The Panthers got on the board with a 35-yard field goal to effectively end the first half. Penalties have been a big part of what’s kept the Panthers alive. Cleveland was flagged 10 times for 74 yards in the first half. But the Browns will receive the second-half kickoff

Deshaun Watson Not Ready As Starting QB Even After Positive Week 2
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson rebounded from a rough Week 1 against the Jaguars and had a good statistical game against the Buccaneers in Week 2. The much-maligned quarterback was 24-for-30 passing for 238 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Watson is still a tough option to start at quarterback as he has a home game with the Panthers in Week 3. The Panthers defense gave up 59 points to the Chicago Bears in the opening week but rebounded to allow just three points to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. Both Watson and the Panthers defense are coming off of bounce-back efforts so it will be interesting to see what gives in Week 3. The Panthers have star defensive backs in Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson along with Derrick Brown on the defensive line but will be playing without linebacker Devin Lloyd and safety Nick Scott. Watson has an emerging bond with receiver Denzel Boston who has touchdowns in each of the first two games. Look for Watson to look Boston's way more in Week 3 and maybe get tight end Harold Fannin Jr. more involved. Watson tossed a TD pass to backup tight end Blake Whiteheart in Week 2. We still need to see more good performances from Watson before considering him a starting fantasy option even in deep leagues

Browns hold on after weather delay, beat Baker Mayfield, Bucs 23-19
It took over two hours to play the last two minutes of Sunday’s contest between the Browns and Buccaneers. In the end, Todd Monken would probably say it was worth the wait. Monken got his first victory as an NFL head coach with Cleveland’s 23-19 victory over Tampa Bay. Down by four, the Bucs were on the move when the lightning delay hit at the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter. After the more than two-hour delay, Tampa Bay was able to get down to Cleveland’s 13-yard line. But a holding penalty then derailed the possession, with quarterback Baker Mayfield missing an open Emeka Egbuka in the end zone on fourth-and-11 to effectively end the game. Mayfield played another poor game after having three fumbles in the season opener, finishing 21-of-34 from 182 with a touchdown and an interception. He also had 29 rushing yards. On the other side, after an ugly performance in last week’s season opener — and despite the team soft-launching his benching with some Sunday morning reports — quarterback Deshaun Watson played arguably his best game with the Browns. He finished 24-of-30 for 238 yards with two touchdowns while also rushing for 22 yards on seven carries. Denzel Boston was arguably the best player on the field, catching five passes for 95 yards — including a 55-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Second-year tight end Harold Fannin also had 54 yards on five receptions. With the win, the Browns are now 1-1 and the acrimonious situation between Watson and the team’s fans may have cooled off in time for next week’s home opener. Cleveland will host Carolina in Week 3. The Buccaneers are now a disappointing 0-2, particularly after Mayfield’s contract extension. The club will try to get a win against the 2-0 Vikings at home next week

Browns Think Quinshon Judkins "Can Play All Three Downs"
Cleveland Browns running backs coach Duce Staley said that RB Quinshon Judkins has "worked his ass off" to come back from his dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in Week 16 of his rookie campaign in 2025, according to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN. "The sky is the limit ... I think that Q can play all three downs," Staley added. The 22-year-old former second-rounder from Ohio State is an emerging young RB, and although his fantasy ceiling could be limited by Cleveland's offense (especially their QB situation), Judkins is becoming a more attractive RB2 candidate for fantasy managers for what could be lots of volume. In 14 starts in his first NFL season in 2025, Judkins averaged only 3.6 yards per carry to finish with 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 230 carries. He added 26 receptions for 171 yards on 36 targets in the passing game. Judkins' fantasy ceiling could be limited with Dylan Sampson serving as the Browns' top pass-catching back, but it's clear Judkins' arrow is pointing up. Harold Fannin fully cleared after offseason groin surgery
Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. missed all of the offseason program with an undisclosed injury. Fannin said Wednesday, via Ashley Bastock of cleveland.com, that he required surgery to repair the groin injury he sustained in Week 17. His rehab lasted 6-8 weeks, with doctors clearing him two weeks ago. Fannin is full go at training camp. He reported early to try to catch up on learning Todd Monken’s offense. In 16 games, with 13 starts, in 2025, Fannin caught 72 passes for 731 yards and six touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown
